Don't think I've ever heard anything positive about Photocase....

Bigstock.com / Re: BigStock ... stopped uploading there
« on: January 06, 2020, 14:14 »
This definitely looks to be on autopilot as was mentioned. I haven't uploaded new content there in quite some time.

Will probably be the agency I drop in 2020 (2019 was GL Stock)

When I asked in early August, I was told that the report would come after the first quarter and it had only just launched. Thereafter it will be reported monthly.

I will close my account on 1st November unless I see a decent return for my images.

good to know thanks

Thanks! I never got that email. Perhaps it goes only to sound contributors? Thanks anyway :)

It could be the royalty rate cut for sound effect contributors...I'll copy the email here:

--------

Dear Artist,
Were deeply proud of the quality, depth, and breadth of our marketplacethank you for your contributions to this best-in-class collection!

Developing a global customer base for your content is of the utmost importance to us. That's why we're investing heavily in serving everyone from freelancers and small businesses to production companies, agencies, and large enterprises.  As we continue to expand the audience for your work, we will also be adjusting your share of license revenue to align with the industry standard for a non-exclusive marketplace.

Beginning September 3, 2019, contributors to our Sound Effects offering will begin collecting 35% of the license revenue their content generates. We did not make this change lightly but we are no longer able to pay a materially higher revenue share for the same content available on competing websites while continuing to invest in developing an industry-leading marketplace for your media. We appreciate your understanding as we align with an extremely competitive landscape.
We expect the continued growth of our marketplace to directly benefit you as more buyers license more content, more frequently.

--------

Pond5 had such a good reputation largely because of their commissions, but things aren't looking so good lately....

You're welcome! Yeah I guess it probably only went out to audio contributors - why would they want to advertise their royalty rate cut I guess.

I hate this kind of stuff though. They have been giving millions upon millions in recent years in backing, and then they cut royalties!? Slowly going the way of iStock I fear.

UPDATE: Just got an email from Phil from GL, my outstanding royalties were paid just now despite being under the threshold, and account should be closed soon.

Thank you Phil if you read this.

I can see this going the way of so many other agencies....

One day you try to login and the site (and remaining royalties) are simply gone.

I have also tried contacting them and have not received a reply. Had the same question, have been waiting to hit payout threshold to leave, but haven't had a sale there in over a year.

Anyone else gotten in contact with them recently?

Hey Matt, wondering if you can give some input on a bug/weird design choice (hopefully bug...)

On anyones public profile page, if they have collections at the top (as I do), theses collections are completely blank to look at until you hover a mouse over them. No picture, no collection name, nothing.

Tried Safari and Chrome, tried multiple people's portfolios. All the same.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Thanks for the post. We are aware of this and it has been reported to our engineering team. I'm hoping it will be resolved soon but I don't have insight into where it stands in the list of priorities right now.

-Mat

Hey Mat, thanks for getting back to me.

I gotta agree with the other comments though, this kind of thing should be fixed ASAP rather than having poor quality portfolio pages on display that damages the brand.

Hope they can get it fixed soon, as well as fully implement other features we as contributors could benefit from.

First agency I ever quit I believe, way back when. Always surprised when their name pops back up that they are still in existence.

Then again, BigStockPhoto....

71
Hello! Sorry for the old thread. I just renewed my Pro account after some time without it, but I'm having problems with the iStock info. It shows my money but not the downloaded photos. I've loged in and out and also I did the "rebuild agency database" but nothing happened. I contacted them but meanwhile anyone has the same problem?

I think they may have just updated it to fix that.

After sending an email to demand my earnings, they obliged, paid in full and shut down my account.

On their forums the new CEO says their goal is to transform Photocase into a European Stocksy.

Ok then, lets see how that works out...

Glad you got your money. As for their goal, where is that crying with laughter emoji.....

Photocase is a passionately curated authentic stock photography agency. We offer hand-picked Royalty-Free Images with a modern feel for prices that fit any budget.

The prices at Photocase are simple and fair. Price depends on size of the image and if you choose any additional options during checkout. Our photographers earn between 40% and 60% of each sale.

Photocase what a joke. Well at least they dream big?

Ahhhh, there it is.

Can these guys be serious? Demand your money and run. And never look back.

Currently my stock photo's are on Shutterstock, Adobe Stock, Dreamstime, Alamy and iStock (but i don't upload new photo's to them, commissions are far to low)
I have tried 123RF, but review times are several months and the rejected my best sellers. So i am already done with them

I'am looking for other sites to upload, wich sites can you recommnd me?

You're on the most popular ones, but there are others. Everyone's portfolio is different, so what works for some may not work for others. But you'll find some other options to test out like you did with 123RF here: https://www.microstockman.com/microstock-photography-sites/

Hope it helps

Hi people,

as promised, I have worked on making sure the photographers get a link to their portfolio (for now only ShutterStock). It's really basic and it's probably going to change a bit, but basically this is the idea:

The 'endpoint' for a term:
https://pixxionary.com/term/35347/teacher

An overview of all the photographers of whom the stock images have been used:
https://pixxionary.com/contributors

If you can't see either of these you probably need to switch to 'English' on top of the page. Also note that I have only just listed a few names; this is going to change of course. It's a lot of (extra) work but I would like to make sure in the end everybody is listed properly.

As I said in previous posts I would like to give back to the community and this is how I can somehow contribute. I think you guys need more recognition for the work that you do, and that you are way too undervalued.

I'll be back ;-)

Appreciate your efforts to help contributors!
