General Stock Discussion / Re: photographers selling the same images at micro and macro prices?« on: June 26, 2009, 01:33 »
a thing to remember when we have a moral dilemma.
It is OUR moral dilemma, nobody else's. Neither yours nor mine morals or ethics are right. They are OUR own. For centuries people (religions) have roamed the world damning the living for not agreeing with them. Let's not get back to that. Is something illegal? That is a different question. 53
General Stock Discussion / Re: photographers selling the same images at micro and macro prices?« on: June 25, 2009, 22:45 »
Thing that is missing from these statements is "in my opinion".
This argument is old and tired. It has been going on for as long as I can remember. If someone pays me more for something. Good luck to me. An orchard farmer has large supermarkets coming to him and buying apples at 6 cents each. The next supermarket gets told they are 25 cents each (because he has now covered his costs by selling 25% of the crop). Then the next gets told they 50 cents (He cares little if they take them or not). People rock up to the gate and he charges them 75 cents because they only buy 2 at a time. So how much are your photos worth: as much as someone is prepared to pay for them. 54

upsetting for all concerned. But I guess this shows the value of this forum. It is good DT acted so quickly, but you have also raised an issue we all need to be aware of and the associated problems. THANK YOU.

ditto to what Leaf said. I had a Canon 300D for years, then a 30D and now a 5D.

SnapVillage.com / Re: How to leave Snapvillage?« on: June 12, 2009, 03:13 »
I just deleted my account. You email them and tell them. I have raised issues before about their lack of attention to detail. I logged in again to find 11 x 30 cent sales when my minimum price is $50 and I do not allow subscription sales. I was fed up with trying to get answers about why this is continuing to happen.

It was a funny headline however. Something you might expect to see in The Onion.

Hard to believe anyone has actually sold anything on that site, let alone reach a payout limit.

General Photography Discussion / Do you help your referred submitters?« on: May 29, 2009, 18:32 »
I have just noticed that i have around 15 people on various sites I have been credited with referring. None of whom have ever made a sale. I was just wondering if others contact their referals and offer help?

anyway, good to see some private equity still exists. Maybe TA should look at buying out Francisco Partners, they have some great assets, albeit, they paid way too much for them.

There have been plenty of posts about this before. Yes, I just got notification before, so it is my fault I never did anything about this until I got the email.
The issue I have is the ATO in Australia does not have a door that swings both ways. It makes a decision on one thing, and then reverses the interpretation when it suits you. A few years ago I had a web business that was struggling. They deemed that because it made less than $20k p/a it was a hobby, therefore I could not claim my costs. And you wait, when they receive notification from the US you have paid taxes there, try and claim it is a hobby from an income perspective. 63

My experience with TA is they have a bottom of $60 million.
Sounds more like Fotolia is in acquisition mode, I would not imagine subordinate debt. ... wonder who they are buying. 64

I think the reality is they are not pulling their weight. I think the 3rd party deal is recognition they are out of their depth.

something really strange here. some reporting payout limits, and the rest of us not one single sale. very weird.

Like many of you, I contributed lots of pics and gave this site lots of time to get its act together. It seemed whenever you raised an issue over the lack of sales there was an excuse and a reason why just around the corner sales would happen.
I am looking for others to join me in mass to submit to the site a SHOW CAUSE why we should not close our accounts. Any thoughts, I think if we do it in bulk we might get a better response. 67

NOthing to say on the technical aspects BUT.
For someone who has never seen snow I thought it was FANTASTIC! Surely you could sell that. I was amazed at how the blocks hold up facing inwards. 69
New Sites - General / Re: Has anyone else encountered problems with SnapVillage earnings?« on: May 16, 2009, 19:11 »
Thanks but my knowledge of how SV works is NOT the problem.
The problem is: 1. There is no 2009 and associated months AT ALL in my royalty statements. The last is December 2008. 2. I have regularly checked. And all the accrued royaties that should now appear in months Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr are gone. 3. I have each file disabled for subscription sales. Yet all of the accrued sales recorded this year except for 1 are at 30cents. This is impossible. 4. My records show I have recorded 35 sales this year. This should mean I have $525 owed, yet my total owed is 30 cents. 70

New Sites - General / Has anyone else encountered problems with SnapVillage earnings?« on: May 14, 2009, 20:40 »
I will say at the start, I have tried to resolve this on 6 occassions and been told by the site I am wrong.
Since December 2008 my earnings have appeared one day, and then dissappeared the next. They go up and down seemingly without reason. Also, I have disabled all the subscription options and made all photos $50. Yet whenever I log in I see 30 cents for something. My records show numerous sales this year which should have come in at $15 each. There is no 2009 monthly royalty statements. I just checked again and my total accrued is 30 cents. Anyone else having problems? 73

I don't see he did anything wrong.
He is a blogger and was going to use the photo for maybe a satire story. The security and police neither asked to see the pic or ask for it to be deleted. Basically we are talking about tossers who are using 9/11 to stay on their little power trip. 75
