So far PP sales up to 22nd Oct are double my BME, with my RPD more than doubling - a pleasant surprise from IS for once!

Also seeing quite a few sales for around $4 and $2 in my October PP stats so far

General Stock Discussion / Re: October Earnings
November 01, 2013, 13:34
Still early days as a photo and video independent, overall earnings are steady with IS topping list as I am still audio exclusive there. Oct 2013 breakdown goes like this:
IS  - 52%
SS  - 25%
FT  - 7%
DT  - 7%
123RF  - 2%
DP - 2%
P5 - 2%
PD - 2%
GL  - 1%
Nothing from Alamy in Oct which was a disappointment.

my standard set up -  shoot RAW with primes and L lenses and use the Lightroom details module to sharpen at 25, normally add the masking slider so just the edges get sharpened and that's it. Every agency seems happy except SS, so spend half my life resizing and adding sharpening in PS just for them.

Thank you both for the replies. Decided to try the H.264 option, with a bit of experimentation managed to get it down to 584MB with H.264 at 90% quality.

Hi,
I have a 30 second file which is compressed to IS standards - QuickTime movie, photo JPEG at 95% quality. Problem is uploading to Fotolia as their FTP limit is 610MB and my footage is 710MB. I can render a new file in After Effects, any tips on the best format / Codec / settings to use to get the file size down at a quality acceptable for Fotolia? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Not a bad month with a 20% increase at SS balancing out losses at IS.

Total revenue 10% down on June 2013 due to the IS price cut, all other sites similar to June.

But at the same time have made impossible for many to remain exclusive.

On the other hand, this price cut could deter exclusives from leaving. I reckon exclusives could now expect at least 75% drop in IS earnings when going independent, a big hit while uploading to other sites and waiting for new portfolios to establish. Maybe that was part of the plan!

latest from me: DLs up 30% $$ down 32% since the new pricing in June
#61
download numbers the same, $$ exactly half  - not good for me

iStock looking very poor for photo sales - just calculated that my RPI for photos at IS during June 13 was 0.16 compared to Shutterstock RPI 0.70. My 50 exclusive audio files at IS made more than the 1340 non-exclusive photos files! Decided I am no longer uploading photos to IS, may as well concentrate on the audio side now.

For me the FTP didn't work, but the upload page on the site did work

first full month as an independent and royalties are 70% down compared to Mar 2012, hoping to improve on that next month!

I'm uploading to DepositPhotos, but the files don't appear in the Unfinished section. Therefore I'm unable to submit them. Even after 9+ hours there's no trace of the uploaded files. Not sure if it's a site problem.

I have the same problem - uploaded two files today using FTP but they failed to show up so far

I think all IS content will be available on 360 and any non exclusive sales there get 15% so it's not just PP, is that right?

I would be interested to know how many files you have managed to upload on other sites in those 2 weeks, and what is the damage over Jan 2013.

Feb 2013 included 14 days of independence -  royalties are down 49% compared to Feb 2012, downloads up 12%

Managed about 300 files on FT and SS  about 380 on DT, GL and 123 about 100 on Alamy, royalties only 3% down on Jan 2013

Most people probably think of this, but I am kicking myself for not using up my E+ quota before throwing in the crown, I lost all 80 slots overnight. Just a thought for anyone about to jump.

Alamy isn't a quick process as it involves messing around with Keywords, unless I am missing a trick?
#72
thanks, IS is not a happy place to be anyway, so think I made the right decision
#73
I knew it would be bad, wasn't sure how bad! Anyway no going back now.
#74
just done the maths RPD on IS now is $1.93. When I was exclusive it was $8.32!

I've been independent for 5 days, initially found it a bit of a shock to get such low royalties per download, IS downloads averaging $1 I think the first few months will be hard financial
