Hi everyone, is it me or did I understand that there was some videos of some microstock expo conferences that were to be accessible? I think I remember seeing this on the posts during the expo but I haven't seen any post regarding where to find them. Are they not ready yet? I'm looking foward to seeing them  tx!

I'm happy to hear that you are looking to build up on Symbiostock. To be honest, I'd be willing to pay a one time fee to get a professional, responsive, searchable site.
Maybe do a poll to see if other people share this opinion and what would be a reasonable price point. With that info, you might be able to hire someone and improve functionality for you.
The symbio sites would also look more trust worthy and I am sure that sals would improve dramatically with a more polished look.

If I remember well, I set the categories, went on to adjust met, assigned MRs. At the end I' go into custom categories to set them and when I submitted, it musthave reset because when I tried to submit to SS, it failed. I'll be uploading again in the next few days so I'll try the same thing and tell you if it was what happenned

Hi everyone, I just came by this new stock site: http://www.pngstock.com/They have very few images but they say they offer up to 70% commission, the structure doesn't seem clear but it's better than 15% Most of all, the site seems to have been done with Wordpress, does anyone reccognise the theme used? is it from http://graphpaperpress.com/ ? thanks everyone!

yes, I had uploaded them in Stock submitter. They uploaded just fine to SS but then they got stuck in the "submit images" page because the categories and MR didn't follow.
I'll try with my next batch and I'll let you know Niakris.

Hi there, I've been trying to submit my images to Shutterstock after uploading and I get an mesage saying that I haven't chosen categories and to retry. I had categories selected in the general categories and the custom categories so I don't know how to fix it, Any suggestions?

After reading abou the importance of property releases, especially since the I stock update, I was wondering where to attach my property releases in StockSubmitter? Is there a tab that I'm not seeing? should I add it with my model releases? I feel like it's going to be very confusing and cause rejection in some agencies

It's also not allowed to use our subscriptions to build an internal image bank for a company or a service.

How long does it take for the images to be removed from the site? I unchecked all the sites in the API details but my images still show up in searches. Thank you!

I use Dfine2 from Nik software and I'm really happy with it. I never use the noise reduction at 100% as it starts to look fake and affect sharpness so my technique is to reduce contrast noise correction to 50% and color noise to 80%. They have a trial :http://www.google.com/nikcollection/

Regarding reviews - as you would expect, review objections fall into three categories:
A. The review was correct according to our standards.
B. The review determination was on the line, meaning that there were legitimate questions about the quality of the image relative to our standards, but a more forgiving review could get the image into the collection.
C. The review determination was in error and will be reversed, either because the reviewer accidentally selected the wrong rejection reason or because the senior review team felt the reviewer hadn't made the best determination.
We train and review the reviewers, but a Support ticket will help us look into the exact complaint if you feel strongly that a specific review determination was unfair or inaccurate.

Hi Scott, it is great of you to take part in the forum considering the hostility going on and thank you for the solutions you offered. Can I suggest one thing? I think the frustration around the reviewers comes from the fact that it's so inconsistant AND so drastic. It doesn't make much sense that a batch be rejected 100% and a second batch from the same serie be accepted 100% the next week. I think a lot of contributors are feeling insulted because it doesn't seem to be very respectful of their time or creativity. As for myself, I am waiting until this unjustified rejection phase passes befor submitting my work. The solutions you offer are very nice but until contributors can actually understand the logic behind the reviewers decision, I mfeel like tempers are going to flare on this Forum. I hope to hear from you to get more understanding, Julie

Hi everyone, I'm just starting to use Stock Submitter and it seams like all my metadata is transfering well except for the title.
I've been keywording in Bridge and I put my title in the Headline space. Am I doing it wrong or is there an issue with Stock Submitter?

If I were you, I might research what type of document an agency would require if you were applying as a contributor as a small business. I think they might just require the name and number of your business. That is an easy and inexpensive to get and I think that might allow you to apply as a seperate entity, maybe even exclusive , but that is just a guess. As suggested by Ron I might contact the agency directly.
Let me know what you find out! it's an interesting question

Your humility is very charming, however, you have a nice style and perhaps are doing well in general stock photography. Perhaps you should focus more on exploring your own individuality insteading of seeking conformity to the existing style on Stocksy. Could that be why you were rejected by Stocksy? I am not a member of Stocksy, what I am saying is purely speculatve.
Hi Freedom, I am just starting out so success is still far, faaar away. I agree with what you say about not compromising on your personal style too much, here's a personnal exemple; I was rejeted twice by SS in the last few months ( I am aware that they are a bit weird with rejections right now). I shoot with a very shallow depth of field and I like dramatic light, so everything I find makes an image interesting, SS dislikes. I take no offence in that and I will reapply as a contributor but I would never change my style for them; there's already plenty of people succedding in that style without me changing my style to fit in. Stocksy on the other hand, has a style that I like so applying as a contributor is an exercise that would make me a better photographer and it would also be a fun experiment. I think that for my style of photography, Stocksy is more of a matter of flexibility than compromise. BTW, I don't mean to start a heated debate on SS!

Ron, As I mentionned, I quite enjoy the fact that Stocksy's style is hard to define; it has charm, mystery and grace. Most of the collection is closer to Art photography than to commercial photography so the rules are a bit different in editing; less about the technical and more about that little something that stands out. I agree that some images are quite boring but they might just not speak to me. I don't mean to disagree with you but I think that there is different ways of looking at it, that's all.

I think what makes Stocksy a really great collection is that it has an unformulated elegance to it and I think that it's something to deserve respect. I am trying to understand how to improve my images but in a way, I enjoy the fact that there is still some mystery and that the I can't always put my finger on why I really like one of their images; that's part of the charm! Formulated stock is easy to understand and replicate so too many people are doing it. It might be hard to get into Stocksy but I also feel like it's a good sign for them. I come from a Stock background so yes, my images are a bit stagged but I think I could learn from being a Stocksy contributor and that my images aren't that far off from what they are looking for, I just have to get accepted. It encourages me to try new stuff, explore in post-processing, be more authentic in my photography... what's not to love, really? If some members of the forum don't feel like it matches their style, well, that is fair but in the end it's a bit like the dating world, You can't be everyone's cup of tea and it's fine like that! as said earlier, to each their niche

I'm very surprised, I think that Julie has very good images. May be they want to see more photos in portfolio? I don't understand this rejection. I'm very confused now because I just finished my portfolio for next submission in December and now I'm not sure if I know what they want to see  I asked for opinion here two months ago but after that I added more photos to my Flickr portfolio so I will be very thankful for your critique again. I prepared also my website on portfoliobox where I focused on my favorite subjects - nature macro and children.
If you want to take a look I will be very thankful. I hoped that I have better portfolio than last time but when I see that they didn't accept Julie, I'm in doubt about it now :-(

Hi Magdalena, we have very different style but in a way I think Stocksy is almost a more natural fit for you, your images are candid, soft and in my opinion, close to a lot of things Stocksy select. My one suggestion would be to edit your flickr page and keep a maximum of 50 images. For exemple, I like your first horse images that are muted and backlit but I'm not crazy about the one with the blue sky. I also really like most of you kids picture; they look spontaneous and dreamy. I liked some of your images in your Flickr page, I hope it helps and don't be too hard on yourself, I get the feeling your Style would match Stocksy quite well ( but again, Stocksy works in mysterious ways ) good luck!
