Lets hope that 2019 is the year that pulls us out of this - although I can't think of what would cause that to happen, unfortunately.

Steve

The answer is in the question "I", yes you.  Follow the money, Premium and Exclusive content is where it is at, just hope it is not too late for the penny to drop, or are you waiting for your earnings to drop substantially before you jump.  It's time to stop selling good quality content cheap.

Happy New Year :)

You should tell that to the agencies!

I received this today:

""My name is Ann,
I am Content Curator at Depositphotos.
Our team is glad to represent your portfolio on our website.
I have noticed that you had not uploaded your entire collection of images our platform. There are more than  1 000 great images on other stocks that, unfortunately, are not uploaded on DP platform. I think those works would be in demand among our clients.
So to encourage you I suggest you take the advantages of our service for free:
mass uploading via personal high-speed ftp;
help with attribution;
promotion of your portfolio.
Eagerly waiting to receive your response and wishing you a wonderful day!"

My answer:
"Dear Ann,
"I find your email a little inappropriate...
For years I have always uploaded the same images on all the sites.
The only reason why more than 1000 images that you can see on the other sites are not on Deposiphotos is because Depositphotos has (had) rejected all of them.
So, not my choice or my fault, but the Depositphotos one.
Now, frankly, I have no time to see what is on Depositphotos and what it is not.
You had to think better before to reject some of my images that are best sellers on other sites...

Kind regards"

Negotiate!
You should ask for an additional 10% royalty.

Old software no longer legal:
https://dazwallace-wordpress-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/dazwallace.wordpress.com/2019/05/08/the-great-adobe-purge-of-19/amp/?amp_js_v=0.1

So even if you purchased the software outright you are not allowed to use it!

Zero.

A shame. Storyblocks used to be a good earner.

Pond5 / Re: No (exclusive) worries!

How many exclusive files do you have?

Thanks for sharing your experience.

For photos I use SmugMug, it's $6 per month unlimited and I like the interface, it's also possible to store unlimited HD video there, but not 4K.

Unfortunately, Seagate constantly crushes... Well, they work for 2-3 years though, but not more :D in my case.

So I'm looking where to store all the 4K stuff online in addition to disks and Jottacloud has a wonderful price, but will they allow tens of terabytes?

Smugmug does not keep your original files. They convert the video to mp4.

FilmHero is more expensive than Storyblocks - and most of us supported them by uploading our footage.

Storyblocks: Unlimited HD or 4K = $198.96 for 1 year. That's $16.58 per month.

Shutterstock: Has an 'Unlimited' for business - no prices.
Pond5: 10 clips a month (HD or 4K) $83.25 per month.

Everyone's already doing it!

Where's the outrage?

Not true,  I am living on my stock and Pond5 is not going sub that is why they are going Exclusive! Yes I know I have talked with the owner

Pond 5 already has subs! ! !
#59
Forget setting up an exclusive or a dodgy all you can eat subscription library.

Adobe should really shake up the industry and increase contributor royalties.

That would give the Pond5 Exclusive and the Shutterstock $1.50 sales a serious kick in the ass and show everyone (buyers included) just how serious Adobe is at creating a great library.

Hi,

Are there any video submission services that add keywords and submit to agencies for you?

Thanks!
#61
WOW - Despite Videoblocks efforts not to sell my clips (now appearing at end of search). I JUST HAD A SALE! . . . first one this year.

Pond5 / Pond5 Wrong Price
April 09, 2019, 12:16
Hi,

I just had a couple of HD $77 sales on Pond5.
I have no clips priced at $77 they are all $79.
The license just says the usual 'Individual License'

Any ideas where the $2 went?
Is this more greedy shenanigans?
#63
Being exclusive with Pond 5 will never make up for the loss of revenue from Shutterstock and Adobe.

Their Exclusive Program is just smoke and mirrors to hide their 20% revenue cut.

I wish all those joining the program best of luck. But I'm out.

All an agency needs to do is give their contributors a royalty raise.
Then the exclusive/non exclusive argument would be a mute point.

The first agency to do such a thing would cause massive waves throughout our industry.

Disagree. Pond5 gave a royalty rate raise right from the beginning offering 50% and most everyone still uploaded everywhere. Even to those places with a MUCH lower royalty rate.

and everyone earned more money with no thoughts of being exclusive!

I don't think a few people deleting a few thousand clips is anything for Adobe to be worried about.

Well, on the other hand, we really do care about making our contributors successful and would be delighted to have all contributors contribute directly, but want the market to have a choice.  We believe Adobe Stock will continue to grow and evolve to become the #1 destination and that contributing directly will provide the best benefit to you and to our customers.

Make sense?

Thanks,
Dennis

If you really do care about your contributors how about raising their royalty?

That would send massive ripples throughout the stock industry!

It would show just how serious Adobe is.

Below the page with new terms. The important part, the one we suppose read, is embeded in square window which use 10% of available space. Two possibilities:
1. Adobe's web designers are very bad.
2. They don't want us to read terms

I think the answer is both.

I used to get a few sales each month.
But now nothing this year.

Sorry Dennis, just interesting timing. I agree with it anyways as I would be doing the same pond5 or not.

I don't think a few people deleting a few thousand clips is anything for Adobe to be worried about.

No, I just had to renew it again now it says "62 Managing Your Work. You may remove any of your Work from the Website at any time, provided, however, that you do not remove more than 100 items of Work or 10% of your Work, whichever is greater, in any 90-day period without 90 days' prior written notice to Adobe. We may remove Work or terminate your account at our sole discretion without prior notice."

Definitely a Pond5 reaction!

How can it be a reaction to Pond5 if the 90 day policy has been in place since 2016?
#71
We need a "Let them eat cake" moment and then we can storm the Bastile.
Sadly, that moment is yet to arrive.

Markets don't lie so time will tell if Pond5 made the right move!

Markets can be built on lies and deception.
#73
I do not understand why so many people think Pond5 is so good.
They just grabbed 20% of our revenue.
#74
Well said Mantis.

I have been with Pond5 for many years. I am disappointed in their royalty grab. I have no intention of going exclusive with them. My clips can earn more going to all agencies.

I have a terrible photo that sells several times each day.
I'm not showing it to you - it's bad.  :-[
