Cutcaster / Re: FTP is LIVE!!!!!
« on: March 07, 2011, 16:55 »
We added a FTP progress indicator and link to the edit files section once the upload processing is complete so its easier to understand now. As your files are processed they are moved to the edit and submit page. Once they are all moved there the text will say the processing is complete and the "Process FTP" button will return. Hope that helps people more.

FTP has been working without problem for the last week now so let me know if you guys see anything we should take a look at. Thanks

Is it your firewall settings at work potentially?

Fixed the processing button issue. Will replace that text with a progress bar soon too. The FTP should be working fine now and we will roll out additional support for as many FTP clients as we can.

Can people who had issues try again? It should be fixed and the files will appear in your account.

Fixed the issue with FTP and you can now upload via active or passive mode. Before you could only do active. There was some firewall issue with amazon and FTP settings.

Also all images and updated counts are currently being re-processed and fixed as I type so you will see the changes and fixes happening over the next few hours to a day.

How to change your photo or vector's price at Cutcaster?

This is a quick overview for how you can re-set your prices at Cutcaster. This option will be available for the next month and then we will implement a different process for pricing your images which we are excited to share with you.

Cutcaster / Re: Ad Banner Design Challenge
« on: February 18, 2011, 13:48 »
Of course the artist get paid when the credits are used. I know everyone who joined Cutcaster doesn't work for FREE ;-)

You can buy your own images for all I care if you win and convert it into cash. I figured there are a ton of creative people and also image buyers on this forum.

The reason for the delay is that the system is resizing a lot of approved files for the entire site and it will show all your files within an hour going forward.

FTP is up and working but that is a different thread.

There will be more stats posted tomorrow or Friday. Hope these are helpful guys.

Cutcaster / Ad Banner Design Challenge
« on: February 15, 2011, 16:12 »
Hey MSG'ers,

The newly designed Cutcaster needs engaging and attractive banner ads and referral banners for the web to make more buyers and sellers aware of Cutcaster. We wanted to create a fun challenge at Cutcaster that would allow us to work with our creative community and reward users who help us create these outstanding banners banners so we decided to create a design challenge.

Our newly designed site needs new banner ads and referral banners for the web and we are asking for your help.

Three winners will be selected based on their banner's design and will receive 250, 175 or 100 Cutcaster credits for their winning banners. In addition, we will post links to the winners websites or Cutcaster studios from our design and photography blog, write about the winners in our monthly newsletter and talk about them on our Cutcaster Facebook page, Twitter and Myspace. Your designs will be famous and visible anywhere we advertise or anywhere users embed their referral links.

To enter, select from any of the stock photos, stock vectors or free photos at Cutcaster and use your imagination to create engaging and attractive referral / ad banners for any of the sizes below to promote the new Cutcaster.

480 x 60
728 x 90
125 x 125
250 x 250
300 x 250
120 x 600

Remember, the web banners are intended to attract both buying and selling traffic to Cutcaster so you can design for either but remember to express quality, price and speed in your designs.

For more details on the Banner Design Challenge please check out the FAQ and submission details at Cutcaster.

We are looking forward to seeing all your creative work and answering any questions you may have.

Yeah I hope these help. I will be releasing a bunch more information regarding buyers and purchasing so hopefully this can aide everyone in your decision making process.

64
Review times should be even faster in the future with the new backend and layout we have for review. The old system was slow and painful for reviewers to use. This change should have a major impact on how many images they can review and give them more tools to evaluate new images/contributors.

Been amazingly busy so I am sorry I couldn't respond sooner to you guys. Keep the questions and feedback coming. Loveeee it.

Cutcaster / Picture Buyer Stats and Survey Release from Cutcaster
« on: February 10, 2011, 17:51 »
Happy to share some results from our annual Picture Buyer Survey. Learn about image buyers budgets and their industries http://bit.ly/fIcRUa

We will be releasing a bunch more image buying stats to help you guys learn more about the buyers who are using Cutcaster and how you can sell more stock images in general. This is going to be a part of a new series where we release more data from the agencies side so contributors know more about the picture buying public.

66
FTP and review should be completely back to normal by this weekend. I will make an announcement regarding FTP being back up in this forum so people know. Thanks.

How are people liking the site? I would love to hear other feedback.

67
The new site looks great, but I can't follow my submission from a few weeks ago.  Since I can't remember which photos I submitted, I can't upload any more because I might upload duplicates.   Or am I missing something?  :-\

You can view the status of uploads and your upload history from your account page under Media Files --> Overview.

Warren, I like all those ideas and we are going change the default sort so the newer images are first. As for the stats we will be adding those in the future so thanks for letting me know what you like to see.

68
All taken care of Komar.

69
The ability to "bulk" set your prices and edit your media details will be coming out early next week.

If you want to know your stats Warren, I can send you some information in an excel sheet but right now we don't have the views and downloads up on the site. Its a simple thing to do and will get done in the future though. Trying to focus as much as we can on what the buyer needs.

Just did another major update/release this weekend. You can read about it on the blog and post questions there or here.

http://blog.cutcaster.com/2011/01/31/release-update-regarding-older-files-and-earnings/

71
There will be a bulk update option which you can use to change all your pricing or ones you have selected by next week.

You should start to see broken thumbnails in your portfolios fixed and by this weekend all the images and earnings will be back in your account.

Warren at this time there isnt a way to do that but its a simple change. We can sort by newest uploads instead of oldest.

Just wish I could get a sale every now and then.

I just went to check it out, and clicked on "people".  Every image on the first page was from a certain contributor.  Other people might get more sales if it were mixed up a bit.

I did a keyword search for people photos and on the first row saw these images from a number of contributors like Rick Becker-Leckrone, Liv Friis-Larsen, Kirsty Pargeter, Elisabeth Coelfen

I tried the same thing on istock and our results returned per user isn't much different except for the fact that we have just a fraction of total users and total uploads.

- Search for Asian sunset and get this bunch of chairs;
- "Similar pictures" on this one is a server cleaning table.

Hmpff....  ::)

Hahahah. You have to be kidding me. Did you see our old search?  Our new one rocks and is so much better. You try to make it seem like you get a bunch of chairs for the keyword Asian sunset but that is so far from the truth. Compare our results like you did with any other agency and you will see. Try searching for Asian sunset like you said and compare it to istock or fotolia or 123rf and keep up our page and look at them side by side.

And the similar pictures on the image of the server are pretty  good. Not sure what your complaint is. Our similar image will get better everyday as well with the way we have set up our image search and database. You will see huge improvements. Also we removed out similar images from the same cluster of images by using grouping in our image search results and we now batch those under the image preview on the image details page.

On a side note, our category search is now really really good. We spent months building out a system that categorizes your images for you and places them in the right categories without contributors having to do anything. Check it out under advance image search.

74
Looks good and does seem very fast.  I can't see any way to zoom in to see the quality of an image.  Is that something buyers like?

That is coming very shortly. We have been getting a good response regarding our image details pages and what happens when you roll over an image to preview it. We will add the magnifying glass to that view for our buyers.

Try opening up any of these Valentines day pictures.

If you roll over an image preview like this Valentine Clipart you will see what I am talking about with regards to the background blacking out.

75
Just wanted to post a contributor update for those with questions, missing files, missing earnings or missing model releases ;-)

Have no fear, we have it all backed up and it will populate your accounts on the live site shortly.

Here are details of the updates at Cutcaster and also a time-line your image portfolio, current balances and FTP will be available.

I am happy to answer any questions as well but excited to hear more feedback.
