Great video, thanks for sharing! If anyone's interested, this company makes motorized sliders. Very pricey, though! Maybe I'm just cheap. I'm working on building my own for less.

Just so that you know, I have no affiliation with the website that I'm about to mention. If you're interested in learning more about shooting video with your 5D, check out the forum at www.cinema5D.com. There are some extremely knowledgeable people over there and they're all using the same camera, so there's lots to be learned!

Not quite as long, but the same experience. Top quality dealings from T3DS all around. Congrats on the sale and here's hoping that it benefits EVERYONE involved!

^^ But you're assuming: 1- That people can read 2 - That if they can read, that they will than read a warning/notice. From my experience, I've got better odds of winning the lottery than seeing that happen!

My husband and I have worked with both Canon and Nikon. We both decided after using each we like Canon better. I really like the way you set your white balance way better on the Canon versus the Nikon, and working a lot in mixed lighting this is an important feature for me. I think you get more for your money with Canon including body and lenses. I think the ergonomics are superior. Again though, like others have said you will enjoy whatever you get.

On the other hand...this is not related to photography, but web design. In the past couple of weeks, I have had 3 clients tell me that they tried to build a site on their own, because they thought it would be easy. Turns out, it's actually not! Even with templates and content management. I get that all the time! Graphic designers are not always the best people to build websites today. I have a few graphic designers that send work to me. They actually advertise that they build websites and then subcontract the actual creation of the site to me. They just send me a .PSD which I build out for them. Most of the time, they have no clue what they are doing as far as laying out a website design goes.

but when it comes to the bottom line it's money that counts. I agree, but couldn't possibly care less about RPD. I only care how much my payout is at the end of the month.
Once you have been in business for a longer period, you will find that the payout is secondary, stabillity and security is worth just about 1000 times more, why? because without that your payout will soon drop.
This is where IS finally failed and became the most instable and insecure place in the business, regardless of exclusive or independant.
I'm not really sure where that "been in business for a longer period" comment came from. I've been submitting since 2004....

Well, for those of us without an account, Facebook is always good for a laugh, but that's not what I was thinking of...

I saw this on MSNBC and it reminded me of some situation that I read about here... Anyone remember what it was? On Wednesday Kristopher Johns of Alabama filed a suit in U.S. District Court accusing Sony of "negligence in data security" and of not taking "reasonable care to protect, encrypt, and secure the private and sensitive data of its users" as well as for taking too long to notify him and other customers that their data had been pilfered.
Johns and his attorneys are seeking class action status for the case as well as monetary compensation and free credit card monitoring for everyone affected.

I'd worry about actually having something to sue over before deciding whether you can do it.
If you notice, I didn't say that I was pursuing a lawsuit, only that the article made me think of the talk here. If I was to think about it, it would be in regard to rounding down the commission paid on each sale.

I read this article earlier today and immediately thought of all the talk here regarding a class-action suit against iStock. It sounds like the contributors have been cut off at the knees. Please correct me if my interpretation is incorrect.

While some people may steal images no matter how affordable they are, there are still large numbers of people that need images that don't even know that microstock exists. If even a small percentage of them started buying our work, how could it hurt?

What we really need is for someone to come up with a way to get our images in front of more people than just designers. With all of the blogging, school projects, personal websites, etc. out there, a huge market doesn't even know that we exist!

^^ While your comments are perfectly correct, there are still some exclusives that refuse to hear/believe ANYTHING negative about iStock. These are the ones that are here cheerleading and whoo-yaying to no end.
When there are numerous posts from buyers stating that they're taking their business elsewhere and people say that it's not happening, what reaction would you expect?

If sales continue the way that they are for the month, I'll end at only 66% of my income for the worst month in the past 2 years! Then again, I've only uploaded 11 images since August...

I'm with you on regex. I've been a PHP developer for a lot of years and it's still hard for me to get my head around. I don't know if iStock has an API, but if they do, it's probably broken!

From reading the text on the first link, it sounds like she is using actual photos and adding elements to them in Photoshop. Take a look at the reflections in the olive shot.

I guess it depends on whether you would rather have a bird in the hand ($3K) or two in the bush (possible future sales). Nobody can make that decision but you. Congrats on the offer either way!
