I think, there was anecdote about Albert Einstein who was on some party unrecognized by a woman he was talking to. She said: "Everything is relative". He answered: Yes, madam, I also got a theory about it".

I kind of give up on Alamy cause whole process takes to long. In order to have 5000 images there it will take years (I do not even have 5K on SS). I do not have enough experience to figure where each image would be accepted so all agencies get the same stuff. This probably reason why I am failing on Alamy cause they want something else. I also started with Agesfotostock but so far I got just few images accepted and I am not spending much time on them. Looked at Masterfile and exclusivity is no go for me. Funny thing year after starting with micros Getty wanted some of my images from Flickr and I had to say no cause they are all over the internet with micros :-)

The problem is that many of these agencies want you to be exclusive with them (e.g Getty, Masterfile). I think Alamy and Agefotostock allow you submit to other places. For me, small fish, putting everything into one basket is a little bit risky :-) Also if I compare my results from Alamy and Shutterstock it's just ridiculous how much hassle submitting to Alamy is in comparison to return.

I am going to delete all my unfinished files. This site does not allow you to mark multiple files for deletion so I wrote scriptlet that can be run from bookmarks. It will delete all files from current page.

I guess they run out of cash. I was not quick enough with my submissions, now I have 401 images accepted. I took one payout of $50 when I was able to get it and now I will be left with remaining balance until they start selling anything :-)

Just remove all break lines add numbers and you can see what exact position is for any agency. You can then freely call it big 4, 7 or 10 :-)

Two years ago when I started I was searching for places where I can get valuable info on microstock and I think this forum did a trick. I guess it's not more hostile than any other internet meeting place. Go somewhere else and you get comments like "search first before you ask your stupid question". These people have their own issues cause it's obvious that newbies will keep asking same questions over and over again.

How is this better than having your own blog?

My 2 cents: 1. Bad design of their batch tool interface leads to overwriting image IPTC data or 2. Clever marketing, hawks from MSG will notice that and generate traffic to his portfolio :-)

Question is if it's worth competing with yourself? Do you have experience showing that "new" image will actually do better than "old" one? It also depends how search engines are tweaked. Would new image with similar meta data hide old one in search results or not?

I got few images from my early days that now does not look to great for me but some of them still sell quite well. I believe I would them better now but I am not sure if it's worth effort since there is a risk of rejection anyway.

I really hate the guts of spammers and pimpers. They make me lose time. Lately this site acquired a few blatant (sometimes hidden) referral spammers that will take advantage of any thread to say nothing useful but to dump their egg. They make me lose more time by having to clean my cookies before signing up on a new site. I want to choose my own referrals, and those are people I either like or have a history of posting useful info. As 'useful info', I don't consider "yay I had a sale, 200 images uploaded, approved at DP". I don't want to be trapped into being a referral for a moron.
Those blatant low authority/low info/high spamming "posters" should be banned like at most sites. Of course you can block them, which I do, but their empty messages still do pop up and the "new threads" they spam in too. Portfolio links in the sig should just be portfolio links, and not hidden referrals. Certainly those obnoxious large banners in the sig should be made impossible.
Agencies should leave the system of contributor referrals. That might have been useful ages ago when stock was unknown. But now when everybody and his brother signs up to 20 sites, there is no need for it any more. Referral earnings take away part of my income by people that in most cases just live from spamming. The only valid referral should be a buyer referral.
Just use Firefox+AdBlock. You can RMB on any image and block it from displaying. You can even customize it to remove specific parts of the web page. I do not see any ads on MSG :-)

Great info. Maybe you should separate footage agencies in new table?

I haven't done stock for full 2 years. I will not do anything unless they make me do it. Otherwise I want my images to be online till the end of time :-)

I wonder why somebody expect to find what they think about just based on two keywords? There are millions of images to search. Then probably couple thousands for each term.

I guess there are much more images to transfer from StockXpert than from IS, most of people claim they got 100x more.

Did you tried different result sorting. If you sort by downloads you will get idea what actually sells instead of what their engine thinks is relevant.

It looks like they paid people to upload 1 million of photos already

Maybe they merged review teams?
Don't know. I've always had a good acceptance results at both SS & BigStock. ... who knows... It doesnt stop me.. I'm still uploading to both. I learned real fast years ago that rejection is part of the every day scheme of things in micro. I don't take it personal and really in the big picture, couldn't care less. But sometimes, I will sit for a moment, stare at a rejected pic and.......... wonder. I'm not upset... just clueless... ha ha ha. No biggie. They're selling elsewhere, I was just trying to up my sales ( and SS's too- as said, if IS can sell them, figured SS could too). Guess not. Hope they like the next batch!! LOL =tom
The other option would be outsourcing reviews to some third-party to cut costs. Some agencies probably already did it. I wonder if such contract require exclusivity of reviewers ?

.....all I can say about SS reviewers is, I've had a boatload of rejections the past two weeks all for "bad lighting"... sad thing is... all the images I submitted sell on IS.... that's why I uploaded them. I look at the pix and just shake my head... bad lighting? oh well, to each his own. I just figured... they sell on IS... also, many of them have been on BigStock for some time... who knows? guess all of a sudden I suck or maybe just now after 4 years they want to tell me I've sucked all along, they were just being kind. LOL =tom
Maybe they merged review teams?
