why cant they process it on friday 1 july? 3rd month in a row with payment delays is called a pattern, they are slowly moving the payment date so they can get more interest. they are gradually moving towards the 15th, a couple of millions in the bank for a week longer makes a nice interest if done every month.

Payment date is by 15th as its always been. There's plenty of things to complain about in this industry...this isn't one of them. What payment delays?

no matter what.. BY THE 15TH is the keyword to ponder.
last month was a good example of all those panic-strickened , yet we all did get paid
BY THE 15TH.
conserve your energy and just make more uploads, and trust us...

when it comes to being paid monthly... ss has never failed to do so...

what i usually do, like many other photographers, is have the model pose with the signed MR.
it clears up future incidents like, "oh, i  never gave you permission";
something you won't get with pro models, but the wannabee poodle posing prima donna do pop up
to surprise you with that. thankfully not too often.

light is light - as long as you have your white balance correct it doesn't matter what kind of light you use.

Not exactly. You'll never pull out colors in post from sodium street light shooting for example. That's because of low CRI, color rendering index.

well said Irina, same for fluorescent those things that flicker. not forgeting color cast of the walls too.

Would he advise the CEO of Pepsi to come in and pray for better business sense, due to making less than 25 cents net profit per can?

LOL, i don't think any CEO will give a r@ts a$$ if Pepsi even makes 10 cts net ... no CEO of any company is losing any sleep so long as his bank account is deposited each month with $$$$$$

i highly doubt any CEO is looking to be a microstock photographer. .. do you??? 8)

is anyone with increase in sales?

if you are from anywhere but the US, you will get a little more ... in lieu of sales...
due to the rise of the US $ as a result of the EC in-fighting.
looks like those in Canada will get the most, as their money fell ...

506
from what i just read, those who are from Canada, Europe, etc will have a bigger pay-cheque this month due to the rise of the US $ foreigh exchange due to this issue.

business ???? what business................

 ;D

i remember reading this here many years ago during the time of Mitz, Lisafx,etc..
some guy wrote, "i was shooting the opening of a mosque, and a man in traditonal clothing
came out of the mosque. asked if i do this for a living. i said yes. for how much?
welllll, i make maybe 25 cts per photo download.
the muslim man looked at me sadly, touched me on my shoulder and said,"
friend, brother, maybe you come in and pray Allah to teach you better business sense!"

i still remember that. and i am sure many of us wished we had met that pious
muslim neighbour.

I don't think so, ... The Brexit frauds probably didn't explain that, as they apparently focused on such euromyths as bananas or eggs.

The only major thing that would change, would be the international position and importance of the UK. Instead of being one of the leading countries in the biggest block, the UK's position will be similar perhaps to that of South Korea. ...

UK opt out of Schengen area, nothing will change much....
For business there will probably be import duties imposed between UK and EU and vice versa

thx , it's important to get the correct perspective of things from those not in the media or politician seat, as we all know.. whether it is South Africa, Middle East, Latin Am, US (eg Cuba vs Baptista ex patriots, anything from china is bad)and Cda (eg french vs english) etc.. what you hear from the media can be very different from what comes out of the locals

after passing the harsh test of iStock I make even less than you did on shutter- thus I just go straight to the toilet and flush myself  :'(
LOL condolence to you !!! :D
actually ShadySue sums it all up perfectly...
Spend $500 on location, props and models, and many hours, on a shoot, and earn back $499, all the time boasting about how good your sales are because you make the 'right' kind of images.

so, morale of the story is...
if i had to do it all over again, i would just spend all my money getting drunk on alcohol , women and $ex and oh yes, rock and roll.
the money spent will at least give me satisfaction...

and i would not come to know things like (who the f*ck is this Atilla or $*b weekend-reviewer)
and i never would have to worry over (OOF, blur when viewed 100% , poor composition)...

nothing like that with S.. D.... and rock n roll
... no worries like dirt in the sensor, noise, etc..8)

after getting accepted by ss with 1/10 approved
invite the friends to the bar and call out, "drinks on me, i am a professional !!!"

a month later after receiving the credit card statement and the balance does not
merge with your first shutterstock payout,
go to the washroom, put your head in the can and flush !!! 8)

1) i am not one much for politics, but i would think if you're brit and travel to the rest of EC
regularly, you no longer get to travel as easily without red tape as if UK is out of EC.
would that be so???
and this would affect your business for sure.

2) everywhere there ENGLAND vs the rest of the world, you will always find trouble between
the english and the rest.
it's just that way it is. Limeys don't like taking orders from euro .. esp French, Germans, ..(you fill in the rest wherever you're from...).

1) submit your work only during the weekends.
HINT: 90% chance of failure
even if your work is well-shot as always ...
the renegade weekend reviewer is sure to find something wrong with it.

NOTE: this tip  works even better to eff-up your life, ...
if..
you just broke up with your bf/gf/etc
you just got fired from your day job
your mate told you on friday night, "no tonight, i have a headache"

WAIVER:  not responsible for those with suicidal tendencies 8)
then again, if you have been submitting to ss during the weekend
and been getting 98.6 % rejection and still alive,
you enjoy living dangerously

I hate weekends ;D

don't hate... you're so young and pretty :-*... you'll grow anal and nasty like Atilla and the weekend reviewers who rejects everything  >:(
take the weekend off and not go back to check on ss until mid week at least...
go out have fun ...
like the great eddie cochran famously sang
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jWskjIK_-s ..Fridaynight, everything's right for the weekend / Crazy clothes, anything goes on the weekend

June is my worst month since 2014.

If this continues I'll have to teach the cat to juggle so we can make enough money on the street to share a tin of tuna

no need for that !  get a squeegee and be a squeegee kid with your cat around your neck .
(women love men who like kittens )...
or dress up all in white like a statue . they make a bucket full of tips an hour,
and they're mostly in paper notes not pennies.

Umm Brazil got kicked out already.

that's it... no dls from brazil for a while (country in mourning, and coach is definitely facing a nation-wide lynch-mob. businesses all employees incl photo buyer laid-off)  ;D

I think that start of summer, Copa America, Euro 2016 have impact on sales.
I hope thats the reason;)

I forgot about Copa America, could be it has some sort of impact on my downloads as most of my sales come from Central America.. downloads are more than 50% down for me since Friday (not that I was making fortune before that, but anyway ;D )

actually World Cup ,etc have a good influence on sales, because happy people spend more money.
When you go in to work after a night of ale , football, women (men), etc.. you are more likely
to spend more of your company's money to download more photos.
at least, that's the way the waitresses tell me (tips get better during sporting event season).

of course, if your country loses the game, then, expect no dls from that country.
eg. esp if your top buyer is from Brazil. when Brazil loses a match, the whole country is out to lynch the coach. So, definitely no downloads from Brazil clientele as well, for sure.
in fact, during Copa Mundo, no one works in Brazil. so maybe it does affect downloads
for those who get lots of dl from Brazil.

So I'm seeing more and more posts beginning with "so".  Rather than just poke fun at this practice, I'd like to know what it really adds. Is it emphasis or informality? Or does it imply that a question will follow?  I'm not getting it.  If I take that word away, nothing about the post seems different.

Each gen has a new idea of sounding less educated. Remember the Valley Girl ?
Then it was the "duh" from, I think, Clueless (Alicia Silverstone). Before these two, there was John Travolta and friends ... Horseshack and Fonz.
Not to forget the rappers'  attaching "m*therf#cker" to everything.
And that finally, there's Hollywood hood movies that has "f*ck" mentioned 20 times per minute.

It seems the more educated you are, the more you choose not to identify with Emma Peel,
Mary Poppins, Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan, Hugh Grant, etc way of speaking.
Sorry I am "old school" so I don't know too many of the new "classy" people in show business.

(I'm already pretty disappointed that they did nothing about the watermark after all the focus group stuff prior to hiring KK Thompson).

it should have been a red flag for everyone even after ignoring the need of a strong wmark...
and they brought it KKT.
hyenas do not procreate with horses.
furthermore, lest we forget, istock started as a free image agency , didn't they???
anyone assoicated with the blood-letting of istock should never be given a second chance
to bleed us for second time around.

From my perspective, the biggest problem with my earnings is that the high value SOD sales have largely vanished. I think that's part of their Premier changes. As I assume they have content from top suppliers in the "club" that's still getting those high value SODs, those folks will have no reason to rock the boat.

yes me too, not even the 28 bucks SOD . it used to be regular 28 -85, with the odd 102.
now for a long time, nfa!
btw,  what is this Premier  you mentioned?
... and how would that cut us out from the 28 to 102 sod we used to make? you think that if we have a record of earning those,ss would add
us to that Premier thing.

lastly , back to OP, i agree with JAS, it's more likely a shift to lower earners and let the
top earners be damned.
the intro of 35 payout limit leans that way to say we expect you to earn less, not more.
.. and also the lower of the bar for entry from 7/10 to 0/10...
also points that they are looking for marijuana uploaders you are going to go "woo yay!"
when they reach payout in 6 months; that would get an exodus from dreams comatose-time
as you get payout there once every half life-time as a contributor  ;)

not to forget ss still need to maintain their tofu eating IT pros even though they can't even
outsmart the hackers of late. i suggested they sack the whole IT dept
and hire those hackers for peanut. i am sure they would prevent those attacks stat.

SS staff live on grilled tofu and quinoa salads which makes them windy and weak. What they need is fresh meat and boxing or rugby instead of yoga.
I'm sure companies are always playing catch-up with hackers in the same way that police are always playing catch-up with criminals, doctors with diseases etc.

that's right. when you first come out of cadet academy, you work hard to catch criminals.
same for fresh out of IT institute, you want to be the next Bill Gates, .
then again, Gates never went to IT institute, as i am sure many hackers don't either.

That's why criminals and hackers are always confusing the police and IT ppl
who are mostly slacking-off in donut shops and organic health-food cafe 8)

i wish mine were as telling as yours. i never had problems logging in or uploading.
i just don't see many dls. it seems my total is in limbo.
i hope this is just a glitch and, when IT finally hires someone who knows how to
fix this as opposed to eff things up or get so easily fooled by amateurish attackers,
the dl numbers will all be retroactive.

hey IT ppl of ss, what good is all your IT diploma and education for,
when you can't even prevent your company from being outsmarted by amateurs?

i think ss should sack IT dept and offer the attackers a job.

DDOS attacks are fairly common. It's basically flooding the site with more traffic than it can handle. There are people who threaten websites all the time, like protection rackets. Ask them to pay x amount or else they get DDOS attacked. Information is not compromised, but nobody can access the site. There are sites that helps it like CloudFlare, but it's expensive.

i think the most frustrating is that we don't always know when these attacks are regularly experienced, except maybe the hint of increased zero days.
and worst of all is when we uploaded several batches of new work , only to be left with new work unseen by clients and all wasted effort to keep our port consistently up-dated
but many of the new works never see the light of day due to these DDOS attacks.

Maybe best to see if zero days keep getting occuring, and all these new works still see no dls, to stop uploading new work to ss... until ss over -paid-IT ppl start working for their salary and not get outdone by these amateur hackers

did your month started well??? mine did and i was quite pleased after a slow may,
but last week till now it slowed to a trickle and quite a number of zero days.

is this attack thing something a site like ss cannot prevent???
why is it that for some sites you get this warning for downloading too many,
and yet ss cannot put up something to warn itself if a hacker is flooding them with useless data.

can't they have some sort of red flag to stop you and ask you to reboot or something?
i'm old-school so i don't know how this hacker attacks works, but surely you think a #1 stock site would
already have some preventive measure so we don't suffer too many of these zero days due to
eff-ups like that.

to me nothing yet...but i never care when they arrive because they arrive for sure...it's the only customer that pays for sure 100%  ;D

precisely.
Thing is its still 5 days to the promised pay out date to plan on the basis that will arrive earlier than promised is not good practice imho.

ditto. if they start getting paid on the 3,4, 5..etc.. soon we will get ppl panicking because by the 5th the money is not deposited yet  ;D
