Since the D700X is not launched yet, you might have consedered the "older" D3X in stead That one was out from the start, moneywise. I don't pay 7000+ euro for a "new" cam without sensor cleaning and without video. It was born as a grandpa. It's obvious why Nikon is holding the D700x back... they want to milk the D3x-ers first.

Your red is blown out. Red very easily gets blown out, saw it on a Santa robe. You can put an undersatured layer under it with the texture still present, then selectively erase the top layer with a 30% soft brush till some texture reappears. Flatten.

Case closed:) Yap. Thanks for your experiences, and also those of "stock shooter". Apparently Getty has several collections, and PC is one of them. Basically I'm ignorant about Getty so I was just listening in. I don't grasp their strategy at all. My photography partner in Cagayan is a "Flickr star" and he told me he got an invitation. His shots look great on web resolution but crap and noisy on full 4MP size. He would never get on microstock with his snapshotcam. I just don't grab Getty's strategy. I thought it was for the real top photographers and celebrity shooters. But never mind.

I'm also getting a wandering eye for the 5DII so Nikon better get moving on a D700X. I couldn't wait since half April I'm far away shooting for months. Ordered the D5-II. Nikon was too late with the D700X. Too bad.

At the risk of beating a dead horse, when someone says something to the effect of "sounds like a scam to me" they're essentially calling it a scam. Well I'm sorry if it sounded to you like I was telling it was a scam, when I was just telling it sounded more like a scam to me. That was not my intention since I don't know the facts and circumstances. Both Getty and Elena have an excellent reputation, so this report (below) must have been based on "bad communication". After I have been accepted they told me I can submit 10 images free. So I submitted 2 just to test the waters. Guess what they tried to charge me for that. I didn't have my credit card info with them, so they emailed me saying I owe them money. We did clear up the issue - I had to dig up their initial email with "10 free" and send it back to them, so they dropped the charge but they still want my credit card info.

I totally agree. I have never seen the point on ole' Judge Ross. She is married to Attila the reviewer and brings out all his dirty secrets.

I've tried this about 6-10 times over the years. Sometimes I never get a response, a few times I have had some success. But the last few times I tried, the same reviewer just replied back, reinforcing their original decision. Of course the same reviewer is not going to change their mind all of a sudden! Well that's not really a "second" opinion. Review should be done by a senior reviewer like Scout on Istock. Achilles confirmed that. FYI: I always got a reply, if not by email, just by seeing the image coming online. But I only objected twice in 3,5 years at DT.

Sometimes they change their minds or at least guide you. You have two people who will ensure your image was not accidentaly refused in the first place. And that happens too, no one is perfect. It has been said here many times that DT has very consistent reviews. The only issue seemed to be the "we don't need this image" of an image technically OK. It's certainly subjective, since noise and bad lighting are easy to see, but salability is always a more or less educated guess, based on the reviewer's experience of his own port and that might be biased to some degree. The last time I objected was 2-3 years ago. It got approved, but it just had 2 sales. In general, it's overkill to object about borderline rejects, considering time spent on emailing and researching in the DB that the subject was indeed "not very well covered". You lose at least 30 mins better spent on producing new images.

Sean also mentioned in a PM that foreigners would have a hard time getting things organized, especially from abroad. It's just a question: why did you chose SA? I agree it's a beautiful place for landscape and nature, but just for models? If that is the purpose, you could pick one of the Baltic states where there is a lot of unemployment now, a very low price level on anything, plenty of Caucasian looking models (German descent), and flights into there are much cheaper too. Dolgachov and some other locals could offer excellent advice.

Launhed our site recently, looking for suggestions, advice and most importantly photographers. Where is the business info and street addres etc? It looks like you bought the Enterprise Version of lightboxphoto.com, but if I would do that, I would make sure I had at least 5 good photographers to start with.

I bet they have lawyers and will take cases. Yes, it is last resort, but better than doing nothing. How will you find a lawyer in Hungary? Pay 1000$ to recup 10$ in earnings? The problem seems to be Moneybookers since Paypal works fine and Leaf reported regular payouts. Let's not be taken away by urban legends.

Try a lawyer or collection agency at their city. They are in Hungary. Yap, good luck.

However, the comment was made that Photographer's Choice is a scam and that is incorrect. No, my remark was that Elena's report " sounded more like a scam". She said that Getty requested payment for image placements that were promised free, and they needed her credit card. I never said it is a scam. I don't have all the facts.

I use EZmicroImageProducer. Just pick the background color, how many businessmen shaking hands and hit 'go'. Amazing. Does it work on pets and sunsets too?

What do "steady" means, payouts? I am close to having 400 pictures there and only got single sale every couple weeks. I think by "steady" people here mean that there never are major revamps of the search engine, the key to sales. Like on Dreamstime, you won't suffer sudden surges or sales going dead like on other sites that like to play with the search engine all the time, and drive contributors nuts. Their rule is apparently, if it ain't broken, don't fix it. BigStock is a nice quiet low maintenance site with friendly people (it's a family business) at the helm. They are always very responsive if you need help. Yes you can have 1-2-3 days without a sale, but those get less frequent as your port grows and if you have variety: one day nature sells, the other day models. To give an idea: port 1017, last day without a sale was March 19 and today I have 5 sales worth 6$. In short: a nice site without stellar sales, and recommended to all microstockers, with a lower RPD than DT but higher than SS. They have an interesting statistic, much better than total download, and that is "hotness" : For a given photo, hotness is downloads divided by days online multiplied by 1000. My hottest image has 88.

On DPreview they gave almost the same price in USD, EUR and GBP, which is far off because of the exchange rate. Prices usually drop to a more realistic level as soon as the early adopters are satisfied and supply can follow demand.

I did not get a satisfactory answer from Panasonic but believe this thread is encourging me to submit my 72dpi images as stock? Is that correct? Yes. I had the same problem with my 10MP Sony which outputted only 72dpi. Till I discovered that DPI doesn't really matter, it's resolution. DPI is just a number. It's very easy to change in Irfanview in batch: select all your thumbs in a folder, go to menu File > JPG Losless Operations >Lossless rotations with selected files... and then this: It's lossless: no generation degradation like when you open a JPG and save it again. The image itself and the resolution isn't touched. Most sites do that themselves anyways. You can even upload at 1DPI and they poke in the 300.
