I use photoshop for editing. Irfanview for IPTC data. Might not be the most efficient way, but I like it.
If you already use Photoshop for editing your photos, why don't you edit IPTC data with it?
Are there some advantages that I didn't see in using Irfanview?
Claude
Mmm I dunno. Irfanview is very quick to input data. Photoshop, being a huge program, does lag a bit more. Just a habit I suppose.

I wonder is they will ever clarify this matter.
Is what we do here also considered "gang rating"? It seems the problem there, given what I read so far, is a fixed number of people rating each other images (each person rating all new uploads by the other member). Here we do a more modest thing, link A rates one of B, B rates one of C, etc. I often rate a couple of images in my network's latest uploads. I just don't think the rating should have a huge weight, especially in something called "best match". Keywords and ratings can't "match", unless the problem is that main keywords are used in comments and repetition makes them more relevant.
Regards, Adelaide
No, the main problem is people downloading their own images/having someone download their images as soon as they are approved to get them to the top of the best search result. They are basically investing the $1 or whatever it costs for the smallest download and getting in return higher commission through the canister levels, and more downloads on their images because they are at the top of the results. It makes sense, but it is really abusing the system and I truly hope Istock fix it so it is fair for everyone.

You can easily go to police station and say: "hey, I have pirated widnows, office, and whole bunch of other software..." And they will say: "get outta here, we have some real work to do....".
That would happen here in America too.

They have been OK for me so far. I have 25 approved (they only allow 25 to begin with) and have had 2 sales this week. Hopefully that ratio will continue when my other 200 get approved.

Hmm, that is weird. I have uploaded and had files approved since then.

Did you get a jump of downloads on that image? Wonder how much buyers look at the best and worst.

I think sites that have like a weekly or daily free photo is good. But if they have an entire section with thousands of free photos like Fotolia and Dreamstime, it just hurts sales overall. I think so at least.

I use paypal. No big deal for me since I live in the US. Plus it is a payment option at all microstock sites and is an option for payment at many merchandise sites. So if your American, I say go with paypal.

It is an interesting idea to ponder. Would it be worth it for say Shutterstock to have TV commercials? You see many no-name companies really come alive from TV advertising.
Discuss.

2 sales so far this month. Slow, but not too out of the ordinary for dreamstime.

October was by far my BME, but the last 15 days was horrible compared to the first 15(ok 16). So far November has been decent, no subscription sales at least.

Shutterstock should just add a buy single image option, even if it is at like $20. I don't see how they could have even expected a non-marketed site to be a success in the first place, so this comes as no shock to me.
