I'm trying to submit and there is a note on the bottom right of the page saying do not use Winzip to make zip file. Maybe you should say what programs work. Any hints ?

imagine the newbie boost you'd get on downloads at shutterstock if you dumped 5000 in your first week.

yeah a bug. Why is up to contributors to consistently call them out and monitor their QC.
Surely trying to pull this isn't in their interest.
It is good to see that so called high quality getty content is just as crap as some of my stuff I'd hit delete on my camera. Makes me warm and fuzzy

I remember filling out one of those surveys from Istock.
One of my points was that they need to ensure that the site works correctly and fix it immediately if there's something wrong.
Good to see they've taken that on board. (and flushed it down the toilet with our hopes and dreams)

why am I not surprised that people are confused with communications from Istock and that the links don't work.
Photographers choice you pay money (i think its like $50) for each image you submit. There have been threads about it before here on msg. Previously If you sell a photo you get another free slot. Some people report making some money but its a large investment.

canstock has a very high acceptance rate from my experience. Unfortunately they have one of the lowest sales rates

This should come out of Dreamstime's large percentage share of the sale.
The agency could set up their own partner sites that "refer" to their own agency and then skim another 10-20% off the top.

Now if someone could get me this sale I'd give them 90% commission.
Don't say that! Istock and Fotolia will make it the standard rate if they hear anyone is willing to accept it.
lol hadn't thought of that, hopefully I get a $4million sale before they cut the rates. Istock will probably come out with a super agency collection, $4,000,000 for a Xsmall. Even some of Edstock's photos are up to this high standard of german river photography.

I've got a few bridges, tuplip's and emperor's new clothes for sale if anybody wants some.
art markets is something I shake my head at. There is no relationship to anything that justifies prices.
Now if someone could get me this sale I'd give them 90% commission. Those photos gathering dust on my hard drive just became more valuable.

A quick question about video.
I have a 5dMkII and have never really used it for video.
One of the few videos I have taken has sensor spots, (I know I should clean my sensor)
Is there a way to "clone out" sensor spots like you would in a photo ?

Without trying to sound ignorant - I haven't heard about that bundle thing at Photodune (maybe I took a nap under my rock...).
So what you're saying is that my images (once uploaded to Photodune) could be hand picked for the bundle to be sold for:
$380 a pop when it usually costs $3 $630 a pop when it usually costs $5 $880 a pop when it usually costs $7

It sounds very much like an Alice in Wonderland story. "Is this real life?" as I would like to quote some little fellow here.
I assume its a bundle that sold many many times to earn the higher $$ amount. Some details on how it works would be great.

but basically anything that is at the top of the best match older than 1 month old would be a good target.
Okay, then let's get rid of the upload date too!
okay good point. however I think it would only make it slightly harder again to zero in on the best sellers. My thoughts are that if copy anything except the absolute dogs that appears at the top of the best match it would be 95% as effective as copying by download sort. I'm not trying to justify the copiers just my opion.

That is indeed a good argument in favor of those numbers. But is there still a lack of photographers?
By the way, getty doesnt have a search by popularity. They just have their own form of best match and a search by file age/newest.
Are there other successful agencies without a "popularity" search?
Now that I'm in the door it can be shut tight.

Thinking a little more I can see the arguement that it does encourage people to get into microstock seeing the download numbers. I remember when I was working out whether to submit to microstock I did some searches and saw photos with hundreds of downloads that weren't that special. I thought "So I do have hundreds of photos on my hardrive collected dust that could earn me money"

It would make copying slightly harder to identify the very highest downloaded photos but basically anything that is at the top of the best match older than 1 month old would be a good target.
To my thought it would just spread the copying across a wider range of photos. Yes it may reduce copying of photos with 5000 downloads and people may choose to copy the one with only 90 downloads.
Do a search on Istock best match for say
woman shopping man holding money grunge background
The files in the first page of the best match all have heaps of downloads. Independents probably don't have to worry to much as it dominated by exclusive, vetta and agency. Only independents are monkeybusiness and yuri's photos.
Searches on less popular areas bunch the heavily downloaded photos at the front.
Copying photos that appear at the top of the best match would be just as effective for a copycat as at the end of the day position in the best match is so heavily weighted by downloads and the future chance of getting downloads is reliant on best match position. i.e. copy for search position not download numbers.

wouldn't people just seach for best match and copy whatever is at the top that been online for more than 1 month ?

It's also funny that you said you were shooting weddings... that's not a very harsh condition in my books
I think you should make a note or even a change in your books Wedding Fight in Ulyanovsk, Russia
I've seen this one before, it still doesn;t make sense to me, who's fighting who I think the weather sealing may be an issue for 5dMkII in places like antartica etc but not normal conditions.

okay looks like I was wrong, I didn't think they'd merge the lines with only a 18MP camera.

I just looked for the first time and saw that I have two people ignoring me. I have 6 useful posts does that mean I can stay ? Can you tell who is ignoring you ?
I like to have my details private for two reasons
1) Retribution from agencies 2) Retribution from people flagging my account/keywords etc.
I wouldn't like any major changes around here just ban people if they go overboard.

maybe contact them and ask if you can be included in the direct transfer program from shutterstock. I know some large contributors get that option.
