Is there a way to check how many uploads were accepted ?  between what dates.

I've basically stop submitting to them because it takes 6 months to get anything reviewed. Cuts to earnings % means I have no incentive to supply them with any content.

I wish they had spent their time creating new customers and improving search than cutting % and review staff

There was a massive blow up about this at Istock years ago where people were just uploading nasa images with no changes etc. I think a lot of the agencies are okay if you make a composite with the NASA images eg picture of the earth in composite with gold fish jumping over business call centre woman answering phone etc.

If you are going to upload unedited public domain images/footage I think you should remove artist from your title.

The part when it went from a question to "I'm gonna give them a shot." is where it turned for me.

Did you have some cold beers in the fridge and decide to make this post to sit back to drink them and eat popcorn  ??

Average RPD = $0.35    with no charity downloads to use up peoples subscription quotas.

Even Istocks deal is better than that

Ye gads, that first guy has 15,000 videos, all beautiful, all amazing locations.  This is why I never look at other people's portfolios.  Disheartening.

Geeze, where does that put us mere mortals ? ;)

Obviously not happy with the cut, no other cuts have resulted in more sales for me and increase earning.
For the record fotolia have also cut royalities before, pay less percentage than alamy and had the dollar photo club before.

I my opinion the biggest heist the agencies pull on us is the 5 photo "subscription" models etc converting credit sales into small amount of subscription sales.  (I'm sure there's lots of other heists)

Are there any readily accessible agencies still with 50% ?

long annoying uploading process + ages to review
One of the most harsh royalty schemes with subscriptions paying as low as 21cents.
Sales not good over there so they have been sent to the bench, I'm better off spending time making more content.

I'm assuming you need to fill out a tax form and submit to istock.

Yes they take forever to review images. I've basically stopped uploading there, time to review and low sales doesn't give me much incentive to continue with them. Low royality rate aswell.
Their uploading process is horrible aswell. If it was single click maybe I'd submit more there.
I submit 1 or 2 every now and then to see if things have changed.

They say they have 114 million images, they must have another 20 million in their que.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Poor Shutterstock sales
« on: November 04, 2018, 03:53 »
Most people get more sales on Shutterstock hence it's No1 in the poll results.
However a lot of those people have been submitting for a long time and have a diversified portfolio, its harder to get new images to sell than sell old images that have already sold many times before. Search position and so many more images getting submitted.

You could search the other 20 threads where people complain about shrinking downloads at Shutterstock.

What are you going to do if people say its normal or they say its not normal ?

I'd be interested in what video's on youtube that people think are okay. I didn't mind watching some of Carl Taylors stuff, mostly beginners stuff for free trying to up sell etc.

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe sales in past two years

You have some great content, looking at the newest 1000 photos it appears to be from maybe 7-10 shoots, lots of very similar content. Maybe that's why you've flat lined, competing with yourself and others in crowded areas.   Also bare in mind a lot of people have gone backwards a long way in the last few years with ever growing competition so flat lining may actually relatively be good performance

Adobe Stock / Re: Auto-Title Feature Added to Adobe Stock
« on: September 07, 2018, 23:41 »
I'd rather see Adobe/Fotolia use the description from my image metadata rather than the image title.

Its a pain in the ass having to copy and paste descriptions to each and every image upload.

Moments ago I posted some incorrect information about the impact of the title in Adobe Stock search. I have recently learned that there is some weight in Adobe Stock search based on the title. It's important to note the the title should only depict the core subject of the image using words that a customer would consider when trying to find it.

I'm curious how many contributors add a description in addition to a title in their metadata. I will start a new thread with a poll.

+1 I too would prefer the description to be brought into Fotolia instead of the title from the metadata fields as populated in lightroom. If fotolia is only going to have one field and use it in the search and allow the customer to understand the photo the description is the best.

A lot of other sites require both title and description.

That's not artificially inflating downloads it exactly what the agency wants you to do. Bring them the customers and then they take a massive cut.

What you're not allowed to do is buy subscription and download all your own photos as that would actually make you a profit on some sites. Your also not allowed to buy your own photos on credits because you could significantly effect the best match searches.

with agencies taking between 50 and 85% you'd think you wouldn't need to do anything.

Make sure if your doing any promotion that its to people who are buyers not producers.

« on: June 29, 2018, 18:04 »
I'm not saying that this is great or anything.

I thought the images sell for higher prices than on Istock.

If you get 15% of $5 then there's no way its worth it.

If it was 15% of a much higher number it may be worth it, of course I have no faith that Getty won't sell them for $5 each.

Got an email about producing some custom content because I'd submitted some great similar work to what they want. Sounds "great" however they want images taken on a site 8000km away, um not going to happen.

What happens to images you submit and don't get selected ?
