iStockPhoto.com / Re: Minus balance
« on: May 15, 2014, 02:34 »
I've told about iS to my friend and he'd like to understand, so just asking - why to work with that kind of... "agencies"? You can't trust them (?) You don't earn as you wish (loosing money again and again, loosing clients, etc...), no serious emails and forum hiding posts, after all things they do, all issues...? Why are you people sitting there wondering how much money will they take off this month?
This is some black magic! Money dissapearing... Just like that  ;D   ::) No thank you, no sorry, no money, nothing but nerves? Or they are still so great earner just nobody says that?

Print on Demand Forum / Re: Crated
« on: May 13, 2014, 17:07 »
Hello Stephen,

I was ready to join and sell my work with Crated but have my daubts after reading this thread  ::)
(Please, forgive my poor english).

I already sell my images successfully and I have few private and public sites/galleries so I'm definitely interested in selling work with your site, not interested in publicating for fun and friends... (I rather like taking photos than sitting in front of my screen clicking for "fun"). So, for the moment let's just forget about the gallery only. Lets focus on selling work.

You say:
"Artists whos work is not approved (ie curated-in) into search etc can certainly still link and share their galleries using our tools and their gallery url."

I wouldn't like to spend my (working) time on looking for friends and sharing work just to show them the same what they can see on my other few sites :) I'm looking for (pro) seller of my work rather than only sharing place. From reading in articles I understood you are the one (pro) :)

... and we think we can offer a really great product on a beautiful and functional platform that, not only will appeal to awesome artists but attract engaged visitors and more importantly create lots of sales.

So far the response has been great! We're really encouraged by the feedback and all the amazing art that's already been uploaded in our beta. We're listening to every suggestion and bit of feedback and using it to rapidly improve as we move forward.

Please, let me know if watermark is ready already :)  For example FAA has great option where I can choose if I want to put watermark or not. It's small but it is there. It's needed, it's wanted, it's expected...

I still don't get the curation idea. It just doesn't make big sense to me. I mean, at the beginning of reading about Crated it was great to read about curation - we need that, we need quality control surely! Wow, at least some quality level...
But then I read about no email when rejected ( ??? ). All this curations is some dark magic for me to be honest. Maybe I'm missing something. In a part way it seams like Alamy curation, where you pass batch if one or two images are ok in pending batch. However, we always get email with info yes or no (and it should be obvious).

Above are two most important questions before I (we?) start investigating the time:
1. when will I have option to set my watermark (that's determinating my joining) and
2. I need to get confirmation if images passed or rejected (and all this magic idea explained better).

Do you consider above and when can I expect results so I could join and start selling my work with you?

Thanks and good luck!

Last two backgrounds should be blue than pink ;) It's soooo sad! And so real...

You do great work with your graphic, grats!

We hope this clarifies. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any further assistance."

I found this a few moments ago on reddit: http://imgur.com/CqTGaDb
So I propose we do something similar for each agency and let the buyers know about the conditions contributors are in.

I'm affraid this graphic is wrong. Where is marketing and production cost? This is the huges part of it! Packaging and shipping desist lately - you can buy digital version by internet... That changes a lot.
Big companies engage many levels of workers (graphics, game disigners etc...) who work on one game product. Then its marketing and seller part...
In photography there is one author and one reseller (without partner programs  :P)
Generally I wouldn't compare it to photography.

Back to idea.
I'm sure clients don't know what they're paying for, but I'm not sure they're interested... Client sees price and that's it.

I'm doing photo service and my clients don't care what is my cost. They just ask the price.

But it would be interesting experience to try to show our stock clients the other side, open their eyes (iStock firts on the list!).
Don't forget to mention about places like Photoshelter or Symbiostock! :)

Can't wait to see your effect in next months :) Good luck! I'll help in publicating with all my pleasure.

531
Should I be logged in to see your work there?

Why this $99? Why not for free?!

 ::)

533
Must be new. The option was not there, when we started the thread. I see this as a small success! But you can't  say precisely, this switch is an eyecatcher  8)

Success?!  ;D Lol, somehow this word doesn't fit in here for me, don't know why...  ;)  ;D
Sorry, couldn't help myself...

534
... dont understand what deposit is doing.. what a shame

... And I don't understand what contributors are (not) doing...

Scroll down to see: Distribution / Fotosearch

This $0,30 is some joke... anywhere...

Their first step (mailing etc) doesn't look to much professional... I'm far away from trusting that kind of agency  ::)

DepositPhotos / Re: WARNING: DP IMAGES BACK UP ON SHOTSHOP
« on: April 15, 2014, 06:35 »
Seems like DP is a scammer!

But they pay for uploaded images?  ;D People say: "money is money"... ;)

Irony mode off.

538
Wrote DP support to have it removed a third time.

Lol  ;D Are you (guys) going to write to them every month, month by month, asking the same overe and over again?  ;D

I can't believe how patient (...) you all are...  ::)

539
... I can imagine the "incorrect white balance" rejections at Shutterstock!

Yep! That's the first thing I got thinking ;)

BaldricksTrousers must be right, is there any sense to pay big money for colour only? Isn't it better to use regular polarizer and add colours in post processing with (sometimes) better results?

It is getting harder and harder to make money with mircostock these days. How did we as photographers let all these cuts make it acceptable to take our art work for granted?

Let me see... Did "YOU" accept less than 50% for you? Yes?
Did you accept selling your image for 1$? (even less) Yes?
...
Are you surprised that you have to work for free today? Yes?

No more questions from me. Good luck in your success...

Print on Demand Forum / Re: FAA Launches Art Licensing
« on: April 08, 2014, 10:42 »
I find it messy by accident... If you have there RF and RM images just be carefull when setting bulk pricing as you can set all images as RF, ooops.

I like FAA, it's very strong tool to sell prints. But I'm not sure about licensing here...  :-\

543
... you must be new here?...
 8)

544
... So i earned 6x0.25$.

Welcome to the wonderful world of microstock.

In that situations I never know if I should congrat or feel sorry for author...

Shutterstock.com / Re: SS license... advice please
« on: April 04, 2014, 02:03 »
Few times I've found posts on other forums where microstock clients say:

- should I buy EL to print my .....?
- yes, but who will find, just buy it for $1 and cross your fingers so nobody find it...

Many like that...

That's normal with them, I'm affraid  :-\  >:(
We have to control where and how our images are used. No other way.

Shutterstock.com / Re: SOD $0.38
« on: April 02, 2014, 01:47 »
I believe my regular 25d sales don't let client use image on FB? That's why SS gives us SOD for low (facebook) price to use file with FB...?
I don't want to have nothing to do with FB. I removed my images from FB and I don't want SS or any other agency to sell my images to use in FB.

Me: "where can I opt out of this FB sales?"
SS: "Unfortunately you can not opt out from this option."

Lovely...  ::) ???

I hope you're not playing the 1st IV ;) This is great story, congrats and thanx for sharing. It's good to know you do the success :) Keep it on!

I've just noticed I had 54 sales there last week which netted me more than $150!  I don't know what's happened but they must be doing something right.

01 IV  internet should be closed! :p
