If Yu-know who couldn't do it, and had to go crawling back to Getty, that's an indication of how difficult it would be. He's not afraid to speculate to accumulate.
I don't think he went crawling back to Getty, I think they made him an offer he couldn't refuse.  And his site wasn't open to others, so it wasn't an attempt at a co-op.

Old images that I probably key worded badly seem to be the only ones selling for me with SS.  I used to like uploading new stuff for the boost in sales but that stopped years ago.  Not surprising seeing how many new images they get each week now.  Having seen how earnings can be almost switched off by istock and FT in the past, I'm relieved that most months SS has provided me with a fairly steady income.  This month is dreadful so far but its only half way through, so I'm not panicking yet.

I think the fatal flaw with Symbiostock or whatever its called now is that we were all paying for our own sites.  There's a lot of money wasted on domain names, hosting and time wasted designing all those sites and keeping them updated and secure.  I don't think the sites do well enough with google or are attractive enough to buyers.  There will be some people that can make that work but not many.

Nobody has really tried a large scale one site co-op that's open to most contributors.  I doubt it will never happen, as it would be a nightmare to run.  Perhaps Stocksy will grow and open up more but until that happens, we are probably stuck with the other sites or having an independent site that's only really viable for a tiny minority of contributors.

554
SS is still way ahead in the earnings ratings here, so I do think earnings are being spread out more than they were a few years ago.  Was there ever a time when we really had the power to do much with sites that we don't own?  We could get together and buy a controlling stake in one of the smaller sites.  I don't like Symbiostock, tried it and it didn't work for me.

555
It was good when Sean did a script to help with deactivation.  Don't know if anyone can do that now?  I deactivated all my best selling images and all but 1 video years ago.  Not sure I can be bothered wasting more time on it now.  I never visit the site and get the occasional payment.

I think when we deactivate images, it does hit them with Google and their buyers are more likely to look elsewhere, so perhaps I will do some more.

I'm not wrong, my point was that a person with a handgun can in fact stand up to someone with a automatic assault riffle! He did case closed.

Case not closed. You failed to make the difference between the two defensive positions for which your argument was based on. One, the incident in France where people were held hostage in an enclosed area surrounded by guys with ak47s which made a surprise defense almost impossible, the other, one single guy with an ak47 coming out of a bldg making himself the perfect target for anybody with a gun.

As for being in a building a Handgun is more maneuverable then an assault riffle.

It won't matter if you are in an enclosed area surrounded with guys with ak47s...you're dead

As for the MP he probably was well trained but that doe not mean most of the people serving in the military are well trained, especially when they are new!

What makes you think a civilian can not be as well trained or better trained? Their is no way to back that up, just as with the military there are people with different skill levels.

Again, you either fail to understand or willfully omit the point. When, everything goes to sh!t, it becomes far more important to be able to differentiate the good guys from the bad ones else training won't matters. If there is one lesson to learn from the Philando Castile death, is the fact that the police did not know that he was a good guy because, one of the reasons,  he had  a gun.

Think about it. Lets say, one day you go down the street and see a civilian running and shooting at someone. And despite not knowing all the facts, you think this guy is bad. You pull your gun and start running after him. And while you run after him, you realized that this guy is running after another guy shooting at someone. And that someone is running at someone else with a gun too. And just before you get shot in the back, as you come close to an open field, you see a battlefield of people shooting at each others.  Do you get it?

No two situations are going to be the same, however if you were in France during that attack you would have some sort of chance to defend yourself as compared to none. Terrorists run in with guns shooting, you hit the deck if you are not already dead and pull out your gun and fire back. I'd take those chances as opposed to no gun to fight back with. If you don't get that argument then you frankly have no self survival instinct. I'm not going to give up my natural instinct simply because you have none and want to take away my rights because you believe yours supersede my own. My life matters and so do the ones I love. Your argument convinces me of nothing other then your hell bent determination to bend my will to yours.

As for determining who the bad guys are, that would quickly be determined based on who is shooting who and how. Maybe you are slow on reading situations I don't know, but I think if someone comes in blasting people its obvious there not there to give hugs!

As for the cops showing up, once they do and the threat is being taken care of you put down your weapon or put it away so that you are not seen as a threat.

As for Philando Castile I don't know the details of that situation and was not there so I can't comment on that!
I think the best chance to survive in those situations is to stay still and hope the people with ak47s think you're dead.  As soon as you pull your gun out, its likely you would be dead and so would some of the people around you.  Is anyone going to be able to shoot a few people with ak47s with the adrenaline pumping?  I really don't think its the same as firing at a still target in a shooting range.

I can't believe they only give people 3 days before closing an account.  There are many times when I don't go on the internet for 3 days and I could lose my account over something that is a mistake.  How can that be fair to contributors?

Leo, you said "Certainly the pen is my own work, and the red woman was just recolored from the orange version."  So are you also certain the orange version of the woman is your own work?  If that is the case, you just need to explain it to them.  Hopefully this is just a case of it being such a common thing to illustrate that it's almost impossible not to have some similarities.

558
Most of my sales with SS are from old images.  My earnings month to month have wild swings because the big single and other sales make a huge difference.  This month is grim so far.  There is another site that's almost making up for it, but it would be stupid to tell people what site that is, because then everyone starts uploading there and my earnings shoot down.  So I better not say it starts with C, ends in a and has anv in the middle, that would make me really dumb :)  If I don't mention it, lots of other people will and already have, there's no secrets in this business, or are there?

559
My sales with FT are still almost dead.  They seem to be good for some people but not for others.  So until they are good for all of us, I don't see how they can possibly overtake SS in the poll here.

The police in the UK can use a taser or pepper spray if the person they are dealing with looks like they are going for a weapon.  Its a lot easier when there usually aren't any guns on either side.

So lets say you were in France when the attack went down and you were there in person, I guess you would be hoping that the cops showed up with their tasers and pepper spray?

I really can't see how any of you can not imagine what if you were in that situation and what you would do or wish you had to protect yourselves? Are you all telling me honestly that if you were in that situation you would just hope for the best, hope that you would not get shot? I find it hard to believe that if you were in that situation that you would not be wishing you had a way to protect yourselves and the ones you love.
The odds of getting caught up in a terrorist attack are so tiny, it isn't worth worrying about.  If we were all carrying guns around all the time just in case, we would be shooting each other more often than the terrorist do, like you are in the US.

We have armed response units in the UK, so if I ever did have the almost unbelievable misfortune to be caught up in an attack like Paris, they would probably deal with it much better than civilians with guns that aren't trained for those circumstances.  I'm sure if I had a gun and was caught up in something like that, I would just run.  I wonder how many people with guns have died before they get the chance to pull the trigger?

You know how many cops were shot in the Uk? Doesn't that make you pause and think something might not be quite right? UK police are not routinely armed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_British_police_officers_killed_in_the_line_of_duty

Yeah, thats why there are no go zones in France and England, thats really working out for them!
Have you been watching Fox news?  They couldn't be further from the truth.  When they said Birmingham in England was a no go zone, I don't think people here could quite believe it.  It's as accurate as saying New York is a no go zone.  Why do people still think its true when they had to apologise for a serious factual error?  What we are told in the TV news and newspapers is often inaccurate.  The internet has made things worse, there are people just making things up and they get reported as facts.

I have made more with Canva so far this month than Shutterstock.  90 million images might be good for buyers but the earnings dilution for contributors isn't good.

Obviously there's a problem in the US that there isn't in lots of other countries but that makes it harder to understand why letting people that are mentally unstable have guns that can kill many people in a few minutes is a good idea.

The gun lobby might be taken more seriously if they attempted to tackle the problems in US society, instead of thinking Donald Trump will sort it out.

I wonder how bad it has to get before stricter gun laws are implemented?  The police shoot very few people in the UK because most of them don't carry guns, as so few people have them.  Maybe it makes us more vulnerable to the extremely rare times when someone goes crazy with a gun but it has to be better than having almost no gun controls.

566
This one sells through Getty http://www.360cities.net/

567
I got the email too, thought they would get that sorted much quicker but at least I didn't waste time looking at all my titles.

568
I can't loose my ss income so I am forced to go through all my images this holiday weekend ...
SS is down right now too which make this harder ...
I can't afford to lose my SS income either but begging on the streets would be more fun than going through almost 5,000 images when I have done nothing wrong.  We shouldn't be made to waste so much time like this and if we all do as they ask, what crazy thing will we be required to do next?

It should be easy for them to send everyone links to the images that they want edited.  If they can't do that, then I'm not confident about their future and wouldn't want to waste any more of my time doing a task that shouldn't be necessary.

569
This can't of been sent out in error because they would of sent an apology email by now.  So I presume they seriously think that people with thousands of images in their portfolio will click thousands of links to check every title?  Still can't quite believe that they haven't foreseen the problem.

If they know what titles have repeated words, they need to send us links to those images.

This just makes me more determined to work harder to get away from my dependence on earnings from SS.  Instead of wasting time clicking almost 5,000 links, I will work on making new images and other ways to diversify my earnings.

570
I don't mind if this is a mistake and they apologise but if they seriously think we will all look at every title for every image in our portfolios, they have no idea how much time that would take all of us.

572
I received this as well.  Hope it was sent in error, as like most people here, I don't deliberately repeat words in titles.  They need to tell us what titles need changing or at least give an example from our portfolios.  Threatening to suspend an account seems unfair if we don't have a clue what they want us to change.

573
I don't like how they say the UK stock market had bounced back when the currency is around 15% down.  They never take that in to account.

574
It's funny to see the "remember when you had 10 TV channels" Memes but it sucked back then.

I wish I had ten.  NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS and the local independent.
I had 3, BBC1, BBC2 and ITV.  Channel 4 started in the 80's and that made a big difference.  There seemed to be more to watch then than there is now though.  I probably still watch the 2 BBC channels more than all the others combined.  Most of the sport was on free channels, now it costs over 500 a year to watch all the sport I want, on top of the BBC license fee and boxing is pay per view.  Seems like the worst sport to be pay per view because it can last one punch but people still pay for it.

575
I prefer it how it is now.  When I was a kid, I had to listen to new music on the radio and that was filtered by the people that made the play lists.  Much more fun being able to find music I like on youtube or spotify that I would never of been able to listen to in those days.  I like instagram, now I can follow photographers that do the quirky stuff I like.
