General Stock Discussion / Re: GPS In Cameras - Question« on: August 07, 2013, 10:43 »
The Canon 6D has GPS. It's fun in the desert but will drain the battery over night even while the camera is turned off.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Company helping musicians find 'buried treasure' in YouTube royalties« on: July 16, 2013, 15:51 »
I've heard about 120K views are needed before a video (with ads) makes the $100- payout minimum.... The video creator must own or have permission for all content in the video. Videos with "matched third party content" (borrowed music) carry ads too but the earnings go elsewhere.

Symbiostock - General / Re: What's holding you back from joining Symbiostock?« on: July 15, 2013, 10:22 »
I love the "idea" of having my own site but have no desire to process individual rf transactions. I'm also careful to make sure my paypal transactions are less than 200 per year. I don't want to trigger the dreaded double 1099 reporting.
I would happily pay a percentage of sales for an easy upload to a semi-customisable template (with common sense licensing terms in place) and central processing of sales with a monthly payout. 582

About 185 of my approved uploads went missing on Friday. I wrote support. They said the tech people will look into it....

General Stock Discussion / Re: Earnings in June« on: July 01, 2013, 07:36 »
My earnings January - June are up 2% from last year... but my portfolio is 22% larger (10 site average). Seems I too have found "the wall".

The internet is not trustworthy. Millions of scammers, thieves and their highly developed bots are working full time all day everyday. And yes... they are smarter than me.... so I use my real name as little as possible. I just say no to facebook, twitter, etc.,. Agency monitoring and revenge is also real. I vote NO to forced use of real names and portfolio links.

General Photography Discussion / Re: So, 6D or 5DMKII?« on: February 21, 2013, 11:11 »
I own both. The 6D seems to produce less noise in my long exposure night shots. There's a lot of incremental advancements... like built in GPS, easier video controls. Both cameras are great. If I had to choose I'd keep the 6D.

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Is equipment insurance worthwhile?« on: February 18, 2013, 11:08 »
$531 - $600 sounds reasonable for equipment and $1 million in liability. Does that include Errors and Omission coverage? Do they charge extra for property rental owner (additional insured) certificates?

They sell nice looking web sites for $30- a year. It felt good to upload and organize galleries aesthetically... without consideration for what may get past a reviewer. I couldn't stop at 25 images so I payed for an account. Maybe it will break even someday.

Pond5 / Re: Photo Pricing for Pond5« on: February 05, 2013, 17:15 »
The licensing terms are very broad... simular to extended licenses for all. I hope they adjust their business plan and create extended license price variations. Meanwhile, I'm considering raising my prices to compensate.
