Right now 4 ELs have come in and if I am reading the map Ok they seem to have come from Japan or there abouts. Must be the same buyer judging by the picture choice.

All through May and June my pattern was exactly the same. zero during all night! and waking up to 2 sales! Now during all July Its dead during night and morning and at exactly around 11 comes the sales and it dies at around 22.00.  exactly the same during all July.

No big deal but it makes me wonder how they manage engineer this???? ::)

people constantly uploading is what keeps these sites alive!  and then expecting sales among 400 million pictures all scattered all over the Internet. As one agency-boss said: if uploading was reduced only by 25% Oh boy then we would have to get our act together. Our files are an agencys assets,  think about that when you go to the bank and ask for a potential loan of $10 million. Agencies are using OUR assets not only for selling but also for all sorts of negotiations. SS would never have gone public without our pictures would they.

Zero Talent is right, its to appeal to the US market and FT is very weak in the US. I would say 90% of everything bought is either Getty/IS or SS. Simple as that! very difficult. I also question the Adobe partnership, if that was the right merger??

Think about it, Adobe is a powerful brand BUT they are exclusivly known and involved in softwares, programs for the professional market NOT stock!  the Adobe-stock on its own was nothing! a complete nothing! and now they have tons of people paying monthly subs for their programs etc, etc, all over the world.

So far I havent experienced any benefits what so ever with the Adobe merger and I dont know of anybody that has either. :-\  I hope I am wrong but......

Seems to me this Adobe move have turned really sour for many. There is another forum mainly for very big contributors and they are all unhappy. Most of them are blaming Adobe meaning that its all associated with programs and softwares not stock??  I dont know.

Micro-stock not very good but sort of saved by some good RM and RF sales. If August dont show better results in micro I will probably leave micro for good. The RM/RF agencies dont allow same stuff with micro and I would need my port, thats that really. :)

I would never expect the search to be the same from one day to the next.  That's what lightboxes are for.

Youre right Sean! neither would I but even so they could with a bit of luck be somewhere near. This way they have blown money instead of gaining. Makes you wonder how many times that happens?....as it happens in my case the more the better! :D

The place is getting weird and more weird!

If they don't sell your image they sell the somebody else's one.
For you it makes a difference.
For them not.

I prefer them to come directly to me of course. Over the years I have managed to know quite a lot of private customers that originally came via SS so I dont really care.

With Adobe and SS that dont mean anything nowadays! the keep uploading and uploading concept used to give results up to a few years ago. Today with millions added every month just forget it.
Files are either buried or given a few seconds exposure the minute theyre accepted and then gone. Its like pi%&#ng in the Pacific and expect it to rise!

With a million files added each week (month?), bookmarking a page of a search would never work, just due to the addition of the new files.

Sure but most clients are not aware of this they dont know the ins and outs of micro stock and thats probably lucky for us. If they knew a million a week was added they would run for cover.

Well we looked for them together and frankly neither he or myself could be bothered looking in this maze and we made a deal.  My point is I wonder how often this happens and how many sales are lost considering one of the biggest guys in our business sold 14 pics this way. Pics were gone when they looked for them!

This has been argued before and its true a serious buyer type editor or art-buyer/director will of course bookmark the pictures since he is going to present them to a client to get an OK!  one of the reasons why RM-agencies very seldom change their search and when they do its a " soft " change.

So buyer bought EL's from you before the weekend and then again wanted to buy them today from SS?

had bookmarked the pics. Pics gone in the search and he contacted me instead. Old customer had bought pics before.

I guess I should be quite happy really! was approached by a customer before the weekend ( bought before) who privately bought off me 4 EL's  for $ 70 a piece. Why?  simply because the 4 pictures I pointed out for him at SS were bookmarked pages etc. Today when he wanted to buy them at SS they had moved them in their silly search and of course it was going to take ages trying to find them. He got fed up!

so much for their brilliant search! one minute there next gone!

Uploading to a place where everything gets buried in gazillion of files?  well seems rather crazy to me. Must be other hobbies to pursue. Watching paint dry or something.

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe?? deadly quiet!
« on: July 14, 2017, 00:11 »
I remember in the beginning when Adobe got fotolia! it was brilliant and takings were up some 200-300% and it was a WOW from many. Then something happened and that was that.

I never saw or experienced that "boom" that many speak of when they were bought. Fotolia has been a very low earner for me when they fell off years ago. I'm an emerald "green" rank.

So nothing unusual for me there...

Same here Emerald green rank!  yes many experienced a boom shortly after the Adobe merger. My takings went up drastically just to fall flat a couple of months later.  However as you probably remember hitting Emerald at FT was no big deal that used to mean you were shunted back all over giving prefs to lower royalty earners.

Its a bit of a mystery Adobe with its incredible brand-name totally associated with creativity ever since Thomas Knoll days! one would have thought they would do brilliantly one would have thought sales would simply come in droves?? but nothing of a kind.

This is true^^ I am seeing a constant rise at the RM/RF outlets and sales are not gigantic but they are plenty and good enough to actually leave micro-stock and put the portfolio there. Personally I am just waiting for an OK from one of my Macro agency to use some similars sister images and thats it. It will take a bit of guts I recon.

Youre right though looking at new and its like getting a coronary occlusion and it really makes you realize there is no chance. This is what we get and its not going to get any better.

I know Yuri since many years back and make no mistake he is earning packets! so dont worry about him. He pulled his port ages ago at SS. I know somebody right now who might just go the same way and with a port of 60000 files not that it makes a dent at SS but when people with such big ports start removing ports and in favour of RF's well....makes you wonder dont it. Something is not right.

So for new images to sell, it has to be found. And for it to be found, it has to have good keywording. And for it to be downloaded, it has to have good execution and good commercial value. If it's missing one of the key ingredients, it won't sell well.

you're talking like you're a bigtime expert to all those contributors reporting a shortfall of 50% like you were with sh*tterstock longer than them . like as though they are green behind their ears and not know how to keyword properly. they were making lots of money for many years and then suddenly they forgot how to keyboard properly , except for you LOL

I know! like all whose been with them for 10 years and more are just morons and all who are doing this full-time suddenly have forgotten how to take pictures. Little wonder the agencies treat us the way they do.
In these 20 years Ive been doing stock I have got to privately know people inside the actual business and owners of actual agencies I am even a sleeping partner in a smaller micro-agency and to top it all had my own library since the days of dawn but we know nada! :D

New images sell, but contributors need to learn how the system works. You can't just upload something and then expect it sell when there are over 100 million images on SS. From what I've seen, new uploads does get some favorable treatment...they don't start at the bottom. They start somewhere above the middle of the heap and depending on whether it gets downloaded or not, it can rise or it can fall and make room for new images. Images with with a lot of downloads continue to occupy the top of the search results and rightfully so.

So for new images to sell, it has to be found. And for it to be found, it has to have good keywording. And for it to be downloaded, it has to have good execution and good commercial value. If it's missing one of the key ingredients, it won't sell well.

Far too logical and straight forward!
