How are people going on Galastock. I am starting to get sales but it is slow though it is now beating LuckyOliver. Anyway. My main question: I have now finished uploading my photos to Galastock but my limit has now increased to 50 per day. Has anyone elses increased (mine use to be 20) or are they still restricting to 15,10,5 for new joiners?

Alamy allows upsizing as they require the file to be 48mb (uncompressed size).
Dont know how the micro sites will tell it has been upsized but they dont allow it (if caught, they will reject).

Hey That must have been me, i just had a 150 $ sale today
Did you do it again. I just received another $15 referral. Congratulations (or just on the other one if this one wasn't you). This is starting to get annoying (but in a good way). I keep thinking I have sold something big.

Most sites prefer sRGB as that is what the web works on. I think most will accept aRGB but it may not look good on their website (therefore limiting DL).
Edit: the marco sites such as Alamy require aRGB.

Leaf - They have admitted in their fourm that there is no set time table. If there was, we could work to it.

most programs wont strip out exif/iptc data so that shouldn't be a problem (trial versions of noise ninja do I think).
What do you mean re uprez low rez files. Most/all mirco sites DONT allow you to increase (interpolate) the size of your photos. So if you shot on a 3mp camera, you cant upsize them to a larger size to get around tehminimum size requirements.

The file name and the title used on the sites are completely different. It is best to add title, description and keywords prior to submitting as most sites will read the data. I use www.pixvue.com which is freeware but there are other optiosn such as Photoshop CS2. If you haven't uploaded yet, make sure you do you best as sites like shutterstock are very picky and will reject you if you have any noise etc. Once in, a rejection will just mean it wont be avaliable for sale but if rejected as part of the inital review, they may make you wait before retrying. The four sites I refer to in my footer are the main sites that people make money from, particularly shutterstock and dreamtime. There are other sites but they dont sell as much so I would only start uploading to them once up and running on the main sites.

My level of DL is pretty consistant over the past few months. I only add 10-20 per month so the new photo effect isn't a major for me.

Nice website.
Stock images complements web design (from a buyers point of view) where as stock and prefessional photography are at two different ends of the spectrum (ie. selling a photo for $100s compared to $1s)

just receive payment from fotolia
Still doesn't solve the problem though. We need to know that either: - we will be paid within 3 days, or - payments are processed weekly/fortnightly - payments are processed following the end of each month. A completely adhoc system which only gets started when there are complaints on the forum is not good enough.

Yes - Had images removed due to copyright at DT after a period of time. I dont think they would remove the earning though. Can you see what the potential copyright issue is.
Mine was a memorial/art work but the way I photographed, it was more of an abstract. Can remember if it had sales at DT

Forever. It has been there a while now and they dont have a current need to reduce it. They actually suspended all uploads as their que got to long.

I just found that the news is at the bottom of the list of posts. Maybe it needs its own page (ie. forum, interviews, reviews, links, NEWS).
or maybe put headlines (do they come with headlines) in a box below the stock links on the right (but above useful tools)

is the limit 50 keywords or 50 tags - as one keyword can have multiple tags. ie. orange as in fruit and orange as in colour.

Look at Rinder's site. He mixes the two I think.
If you did combine the two, I would make it clear the distinction between custom photogrpahy and bulk photography.

Why is Luckyoliver OK. I thought theres was just a once off $1? Fotolia had this but stopped due to people setting up multiple accounts.

Further to my comments above, referrals are worth it. I just got a $15 referral from DT. They must have sold a photo for $150.

Has anyone figured out the fotolia payment cycle. Reading on their forums, they dont have one and just save up all requests until they can be bothered doing one, with the excuse being - multi currency receipts and payments are difficult. I think this is one area fotolia need to smarten up on, even if they say we only do it every second friday! I am due a payment from fotolia (ie over $50) but need it to hit my paypal account the same time as other payouts (ie the start of next month) as I need to transfer $100+ to my bank account to avoid fees (due to foriegn exchange).

I was noted on their fourm a couple of months ago.
The most popular algorithm has now been changed to include a time on site aspect. ie. total DL/months on site. with an adjustment factor so that the new upload effect doesn't effect the most popular.

Guess I'll ramp up the uploading and try to get the ss portfolio in line with the others. You let SS uploading get behind the others. Shame on you.

Every 1 credit image sold, Photographer gets 0.33 credit. If lets say you manage to accumulate only 0.33 credit at the end of the day,
At "My account" on the left box, Fotolia says 1credit = 0.57 pounds Therefore you are actually getting 0.33 x 0.57 pound = 0.188 pounds. ...which is lesser than 30% which you are supposed to be getting. ?? YOu are getting 0.188 which is 33% of 57p and 57p is US$1 YOu are not taking into consideration the exchange rate. Photos sell for 1 credit (and up) and you get 33% (and up) of that. Then it is converted from US$ into .

1 credit = $1 or 1 or 0.57
They pay in which ever currency you request. So think in US dollar and then they have a fixed exchange rate for and .
Does that answer your question???

How does payment work. I think when I looked at it, unless you were in the US, they charged extra to do a wire transfer, and that was the only option. Do they do cheque?
