At least they haven't hired the same guys as Fotolia did. That did the ad that most people didn't notice, and those that did got to associate the brand with the N-a-z-i-s and pedophilia. Then when the deliberately controversial ad proved to be, well, controversial the guy from that PR agency threw his toys out the pram and came on this forum to call their client's contributors and customers morons. Happy days.
When did that happen ? I missed all of that

surely its not hard to research yourself.
2 minutes on Istock shows that there are numerous images showing only asian business people with >100 downloads. Quite alot of these images to my casual eye are of lower production standard than similar shots of western models.

there would be less demand but also less supply, you have the opportunity to forge a niche with ready access to alot different things.

what happens if your traveling at near the speed of light and you hit a speck of space dust or a fragment of an asteroid etc. I'd like them to work that out before I buy a ticket.

You were really talking about ponies, and not 25s!!! LOL! Nice scheme. Make mine pink!
Is pony slang for 25 pounds ? When I was travelling in England some guy I was talking to the pub was going on about getting a "monkey" in your pocket and going down to the dodgy homeloan office and buying a house. A pony where I'm from is slang for a 200ml glass of beer. Yes I was talking about real ponies

My business plan if I was the new managing director at Istock we'd all get ponies
How many? I mean, 25, bleagh; 100 ponies good, 1000 ponies better.
Two options, cause I'm a good boss and Istock will now be run through the results MSG polls 1) The amount of ponies you would get would be subject to a redeemed pony system (known as RP) which would reward the hard working ones among you. I will announce the RP target exactly 4 months after I promise and it will it will be unachievable to get more than the bottom level of pony allocations. If for some reason someone does I will change the levels. The ponies for the bottom two levels will actually be virtual ponies as its hard to actually send them via paypal. The virtual pony program will be written personally by Lobo and needless to say it won't work. We will spend no money or time on it as that would be unsustainable. 2) For every 100 sales you get 1 pony, Partner program will now be changed to PP (Pony Program) which will now pay 100c per download to allow the purchase of hay for your pony collection. After all it's not money that will make you happy but ponies.

Matt,
As you've got a quick answer to your thread, I'd like to ask after selling the benefits of exclusivity at Fotolia so hard what's caused the change ? Reduced sales activity at fotolia ? Rejections ?
Fotolia is only about 4% of my earnings.

aarrrhhhhh, they've put him higher up the tree to screw us over more, I wish they'd just shown him the door.
I notice that they didn't put a part in the table where it showed % royalties over time.

I've got a feeling they're not jpgs straight from the camera
May be you are right. but it is cool .
I totally agree, I'm a fan and after surfing for 25 years I know how hard it would be to get these photos. It would be bit easier in Hawaii then around here but lots of time swimming and getting pounded.

Why can't you have the louvre as editorial, isn't that the point of editorial. Or is it some Istock wierdness again.
The ones that have got through are enjoying it though, I wish most of my subjects only had 28 to compete with.

'That said, my understanding is that my design can be used to illustrate an article or news feature in a newspaper or magazine, without too many problems.'
Anyone writing an article will use official press material, not a fan pic.
Maybe you could write one yourself and supply your own pic.

if you want to weed out people just make the amount they can submit related to their approval ratio. If they're submitting cr*p cut their limit down and you;ll save "reviewing" costs and if they're not serious they'll drop out.
I don't think they would chuck out poeple without 5000 images, I know that is some number you pulled out of the air but it would include probably only the top few % of contributors.
If contributor numbers were a problem you could make it to join you need 100 images which would make sure that people are serious about putting effort in.

Do shutterstock inspectors ever look at keywords ? They are so picky about caption for editorial but keywords it appears anything goes. Has anybody ever had a rejection for keywords at shutterstock.

Instructions for Mac : Hold doen the 'apple' button then press Q Instructions for Windows: move mouse to top right corner, click red X (alt F3 i Think)
after you've done that open a DOS window and type format *.* it compresses all your photos with a special algorithim that makes them 1% of the size with no loss of quality.

I remember when the USD was 0.49 to the australian dollar today it is 1.09
I wish they'd put the interest rates up in the US and down in Australia. (it would help my home loan aswell)

ahh the old luminous landscape attack on microstock.
Its funny after reading a story many years ago on luminous landscape about the evils of microstock I signed up and started selling all those photos gathering dust on my hard drive.

I am also going to be buying Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom soon to help aid my photos.
Although if you're a student you can get these at a great discount, seriously consider buying Elements and using the savings to add to your camera/lens fund.
I didn't think you could use (officially) student versions for commercial works even if you are a student.

yes a scale would be good, you can "normalise" the values by keeping one of the same keywords in eg money, business etc to give some idea relative changes

Shank your following the script perfectly.
When is it when you get banned again ?
I think the RC credit bebarkle would be easiler to justify if the targets were somewhat achievable and some sought of an upside for non-exclusives.
I mean to get 1 million RC to retain 20%.
If they'd made it 18-23% for non-exclusives may have been more palatable
