Hello folks. There are a stack of masking tutorials out there but I seem to get lost about half way.
Anyone know of an easy to follow one.
I have some old family photos I want to fix up. Things like shadows behind people and such.

I guess we are all pretty happy about SS from the point of view that we make stacks of sales there.
They may be fussy, but what ever they accept sells and sells like crazy for me.
I was ready to quit a few months ago until I got accepted there, now they have spurned my interest in getting better.

I am just over halfway. Will be good from then on. You used to need 400 sales a month for a payout, so this would make it a lot easier.
Only 153 sales so far this month so no chance.

Since I have been guilty of knocking DT when they have annoyed me, I thought it only proper I say something good when they do well.
This month I have had the reverse of my sales. DT have actually out sold my SS portfolio by double the income.

There appears to be a lot anecdotal stuff, but not much to go on. Regardless, seems like a lot of camera for $2000.

if i am reading this correctly, calling the boss a twit and saying they suck is good grounds to get fired. these microstocks are pretty much the bosses...we are the workers.... Actually man ... you're wrong! We are - according to them - the artists, and they are our agents. Even if you don't like that, fact is, they are an agent, and we are their suppliers. They actually don't have any product of their own, it is our product, and they take a commission.

actually Leaf suggested a few months ago when i complained about this very subject to log in under another name.
Sad, but maybe i will consider this.
I don't think insulting comments have anything to do with being treated unfairly. You expect when you run a business that sometimes you upset people, and they all respond in different ways.
The measure of an organisation is its level of maturity, its ability to retain its professional image in the face of mounting opposition and criticism.
But I guess we are dealing with "new kids" in business who don't really have the nettle to handle problems in a mature and professional way.

On this occassion, I would heartily agree with the DT policy.
One of the amazing things i have seen from time to time is models being upset that their image is being used by a dating or an adult site.
I would have to wonder - if i was attractive enough to be a model - why they wanted me to pose in either nude or lingerie, or swimsuits?
Who would be the obvious buyer of these images?
But it is a sad state of affairs that have brought DT to have to bring in this policy, but like I said, I totally agree with them on this occassion.

You can buy a light tent on eBay for about $20. Or else if you can find where to buy thin white plastic sheet.
Go to an arts store and buy sheets of thicker plastic sheet to bend and use as a continuous backing.
Then hit the hardware store and buy a cheap set of construction lights. I got a set of 2 x 500watts on a tripod for $25.
I have a Canon, and the Auto white balance is pretty ordinary, so i put the white balance to Tungsten and get better results.
Good luck, and you are doing well

yes i was referring to the reflection of the photographer. imagine how much this would stand out if the image was blown up on a billboard!
by the way ... I like the shot.
but i noticed the reflection even in the thumb, maybe that is something i look for?

It isn't mine of course, but it is listed as a top seller. i found it sort of quirky funny in an odd way ... if that is at all possible.

Yes I agree with stopping insults. The worst of which (for me) are those which are veiled as condesending little snippets of wisdom but which are in fact insulting attacks on a person's intelligence.
I for one certainly don't need educating about how businesses do and should operate. I have people coming to me every day for advice on billion $ infrastructure projects. For me micro is a way to get better at something that has been a lifelong hobby.
One thing that everyone needs to understand about how to treat people is that you treat others the way you wish to be treated. For instance, if someone decides to treat me like an idiot, I take it that is how they wish to be treated. If someone is rude to me, I take it that they wish me to be rude to them.
Normally I will give people a lot of chances to change their behaviour before reacting, but once I do, they will be left in doubt about where they stand.
I know very little about micro, but have learned some great lessons from the folks here. But as far as business goes, there are a lot of people in this world, who if they want to catch up with me, had better stop crawling and start running.
Oh, and I do have a great sense of humor!

This thread requires a post script.
Since taking all of your advice i now have about 75% success and 104 shots online. sometime soon i will try to load the other 3000 ... lol
Just a note however, they have knocked a lot back after using the noise software, so i dont use it anymore and have had much better luck.
