General - Stock Video / Re: Editing question
« on: August 05, 2017, 09:58 »
@wds Actually original unedited file (4K) won't play in media player (blank screen) so I can't compare it to VLC player. I use Wondershare Filmora.

@increasingdifficulty I guess what you say makes some sense, although I still think it's wierd  that there's a difference between windows media and VLC player.

Anyway, I also uploaded video on YT and since YT video and previews on Pond5 and FT look the same as they are in VLC player, I think VLC player is the way to go.

General - Stock Video / Editing question
« on: August 05, 2017, 08:54 »
So, I'm in a dilemma. When I edit video (basics: brightness, saturation, contrast), save it and then check how it looks video appears different if I watch it in different software.

For example, with VLC player video looks less saturated and contrast than with windows media player. So I went and checked previews of some videos that I uploaded to pond5 an FT and they look more like as in VLC player (less saturated, etc...). Then I did another test, put my videos on USB and view them on TV and they look way too much over-saturated and contrast.

So, which one is like, real thing? I don't want to over do saturations and other stuff....

Same here, I don't have any 0 days, but numbers are way way down in the first 4 days of august.

A picture is worth a thousand words

Take your best month and your worst month/2 and you're in the average. Where's the problem?

Assuming that all images have been downloaded at least once, which they didn't.

Jo Ann, did it make a difference?
I disabled the EL on SS and I feel like I was punished (my theory) ... I love how FT lets you set the EL.

I can't be sure, but I think it did. The high value SODs (versus those for a few dollars or a few cents) had disappeared completely - but other people were seeing declines in those, so you can't be sure.

The day after I turned ELs back on, I got a $66 SOD and two (rather lowball) ELs! I realized this wasn't going to be a daily occurrence - and it hasn't been, sadly - but I have seen a few high-value SODs each month since then. The theory that lowering EL prices would increase volume is bollocks - as everyone knew it was when SS made the change - but I decided I was willing to put up with those $17 and $19 royalties for ELs to try (for a year) and see if the SODs  returned.

I think a decent agency would be fully transparent about what happens if you opt out of various items, but I don't expect SS to do that, so I figured a 12 month experiment would give me enough of a guide that I could then decide whether to leave ELs turned on or not. If ELs are few and far between, access to SODs would make the overall deal a good one for contributors.

Since the change I definately got more ELs than before.

Maybe you have better camera and equipment and they think "wow this guy must know, what he's doing".

I use a lot my nikon d300, now d500 and my 200-400-f4 VR lens. And when people see this setup, they automatically think I'm some top notch pro photographer and start asking me questions, and tell me what camera they own, what settings should they use, etc etc.... It annoys me.

Stop whining already and just quit. We got it by now. MS is dead, your earnings are down 50% and new files don't sell.

SS pretty good thanks to two EL's, one yesterday, one today. Without those, it would be OK, not good, but not bad either. Compared to last july I made 3 times more, but last july was extremly bad.

FT another disastrous month. I'm making less with more photos and silver rank compared to, when I was bronze and had less photos.

Canva pretty good, not best month, but not bad either

Photodune BME thanks two 2 EL's

Other low earning sites as usual. Low earnings

This year, my average monthly earnings increased at SS, Canva, iStock, while my earnings at FT dropped. This and previous month are disaster. And FT was my best earning agency a year ago. No more.

So, I went to todayis20.com and uploaded all *.txt reports from January till June. And my all total downloads show 835 sales. Then I went to ESP page and my total "year to date" downloads show 557 sales. So it's about 300 sales short.

Treaty with US or AU? Also, as the other user said, there is no tax section on their page.

I just noticed they lowered the quality of the previews, they look out of focus :|

The contributor support confirmed that this is an anti-theft measure.
Now the clients would think that the images are of low quality.

Another brilliant way to kill the sales :(

I think the quality of the previews is low only for images that were uploaded after they introduced preview. Images, that were uploaded before that look good. At leas that was the case few months ago.

It's not incorrect, envato is australian based, so 30% is probably right amount. I checked yesterday. I'm also paying 30% at Canva, which is also *.au based.

Ok, I've solved it. I had to accept agreement and now everything is working great. I also had contributor bonus, ~99$

For some reason, the page on that link will not open for me. It's just loading endlessly. I use google chrome.

If I login here https://elements-contributors.envato.com/ and then go Earnings report on the top right corner nothjing happens. And all other links are dead too, for example payout method...

And if I put the link https://elements-contributors.envato.com/account/earnings/2017-05 directly into my browser, I'm getting thrown to contributor agreement. This site is completely broken.
