should be a level 2 and a level 3.. don't know :P

So, how hard is the uploading process? Do they have FTP, IPTC etc.? Categories?

I have sent my application minutes ago just to see how it will go, from what I have searched we need to place just a category, and "MR" on the model release file name..

If your images are getting accepted at one agency and not at another agency, it is a sign that you are not shooting 'hot' microstock images, you are shooting mediocre microstock images.

I have to disagree here... Some times that is caused just by stupid reviewers/inspectors (or whatever they want to be called)

True.. It is happening to me at DT.. All agencies (IS, FT, SS, whatever..) are approving all my latest work, only DT is rejecting because they are asking for 5 or 6 objects/subjects on the same picture..

Despite all the negative comments here, I might give Photospin a try IF they have an easy upload.

-In the bottom line I'm only interested in how much the client pays for an image they REALLY USE. For example they might upload 10 images for $0.03 a pop, but if they use only one of them it's the same as a $0.30 subscription download. And if they use it only in a small size, it's no worse than a $0.30 small size download. I'm still guessing the big players that use images a lot are using IS, SS etc. because they have more images to choose from.

-Yes I'm a bit concerned for piracy, but then again:

-I will only upload selected "crap", images that are collecting dust on other sites, perhaps 5% or 10% of my portfolio.

I am not at Spin but honestly the piracy issue is all around.. in a few months a client can have all our portfolio could be at Spin, but why not at SS ??

One of my clients has a subscription there. It was super cheap and there are pretty much no limits to how many files I can download. I don't see how any contributors can possibly make more than a few cents per download but maybe I'm missing something.

I am not a contributor there but I have looked minutes ago and it isnt unlimited anymore, now its 50 daily.. Yuri is there

...and soon they will only accept one file per model  :-[

or a picture with 10 different poses into 1 picture, there are photographers that do that and thats not my business but I dont agree, I have a few myself with objects isolated and dont feel they sell better than separated..

DT wasnt acting like this 2 months ago.. they started this from November, I was getting 100+ approvals and have dropped to less than 50 monthly.. The only good thing is that all other agencies have been approving quite all my pictures, I am feeling that I will lose performance at DT (when they are actually increasing sales) but soon it wont go further..

General Photography Discussion / Re: Adobe RGB or sRGB ??
« on: December 31, 2010, 23:13 »
Some sites, SS for one, displays sRGB much better that AdobeRGB. I would shoot RAW, process to Adobe RGB.TIF and do a conversion to sRGB.jpg for upload.

Exactly!

That's what I was getting at. When we get done and upload, it doesn't matter anymore. But I guess there are some different opinions of what a web browser can actually display and all the complications of making different files for different sites and the fact that the end user, most of the time, doesn't care and doesn't know how to handle and process RGB!

Canon or Nikon?

Compression 11 or 12?

UV filter or not?

RAW or JPG - but always edit as TIF?

Tripod or Monopod...

Nice friendly troll luissantos84  ;)

ahah

Nikon, compression 12, no uv, raw, tripod! :)

Dreamstime.com / DT reviews..
« on: December 31, 2010, 21:06 »
I have been a little upset with DT, I really don't mind to have rejections.. The problem is getting inconsistent approvals/rejections.. One day I have a picture approved, the other day a similar is rejected (because it is simplistic).. what does DT want?.. I really don't like the idea of giving 5 or 6 pictures into one.. once every other agency is approving them all..

dont have any problem with sales, I like DT a lot but these last months have been really hard working with them..

approved:

rejected: (SIMPLISTIC)

http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-67724269/stock-photo-curry-spice-powder-isolated-on-white-background.html

stock at DT isn't going the right direction.. it is going to be even more cheaper giving our work this way! honestly I don't know if I should upload that way in DT just to get noticed there..

Adobe Stock / Re: Issue with IPTC data
« on: December 31, 2010, 09:44 »
The issue is that my keywords are listed (IPTC) in the box but when I click "Add", nothing happens. Is this an issue only for me or are others having the same problem? Even if I delete all the keywords and then paste/type them in the "Add" button still does not function.

Its working for me, I had that problem once but I noticed seconds later that I had lost internet connection :P

A pretty thorough discussion of why this is a problem is here:
http://www.microstockgroup.com/picniche-toolbar/picniche-problems/#msg164792

Short version:
the 123rf site sucks and for lots of people simply does not work, there's nothing I can do about it and have been holding my breath hoping someone over there would fix their rubbish caching code (if they even have any).

In the next toolbar update (aiming for sometime late January) I'll try and find some way to work-around it, though for now it's stuck as it is sorry.

Dont worry, have a nice 2011 :)

General Photography Discussion / Adobe RGB or sRGB ??
« on: December 30, 2010, 18:54 »
Hi there, what are you using? I mainly use sRGB, I guess colors look a lot nicier on previews.. I have read that is the more usual on the web etc.. heard also that using sRGB it's with 8 bit pictures, instead of 16.. that's is a bad thing right?

thanks in advance

123RF / Re: Rejects at 123rf to clear the pending queue?
« on: December 29, 2010, 19:07 »
I think it may be just one reviewer.  I complained on here a while back after several batches had a 90 - 100% acceptance rate across all other sites (including the big four), and only a 10% acceptance rate at 123RF.

Since then my batches have had an AR more in line with the other agencies, so I feel sure it's one reviewer that's out of synch with the others.

ETA:  Hopefully 123RF will see these concerns and do some spot-checks on rejections.

honestly I doubt anything will change, time to time this happens, dont know if it is reviewer or other thing but it happens a lot..

I'm not going to mess with them...I'm tired of having to do all the work for these places. I have better things to do with my time. ;)

I agree with you but I need to keep up there once they are my 4th best earner..

123RF / Re: Rejects at 123rf to clear the pending queue?
« on: December 29, 2010, 17:32 »
oh yeah 123RF is the most craziest agency ever eheheh one day approves everything other day all got reject :)

if you have a minute send them email telling that other agencies approve those pictures (links lol a lot of work) but they will approve them..

Canon / Re: Canon 5DMkII = less microstock acceptance?
« on: December 29, 2010, 17:22 »
it's all about the pictures you have been taken.. until July this year I was shooting JPEG only (on my previous D60).. after that I got a D90 and started shooting RAW, no changes on acceptance because of that, it is all about the pictures, the exposure and of course trying to please reviewers all around which is not easy.. I am a little worried at DT, I guess exclusives are getting everything online.. More and more I try to do my best and upload, if agencies like what I am doing it's all good if not all good also, nothing we can do :P

Lately I am also very pleased with IS approvals, I am getting a lot higher approval there, I am near 60% too bad the drop in royalties soon..

StockFresh / Re: Uploading to Stockfresh
« on: December 26, 2010, 13:23 »
So I finally uploaded my first images yesterday night. The guys are working, got them reviewed today.  Some were rejected, but when I put my mouse over the red circle, it doesn't say what was the reason for the rejection.  I remember this is how we saw the results in StockXpert. No site mail or email either. Am I missing something?

Another question, I am using the web upload, but when I select a group of 5-6 images, often 2-3 of them fail to upload. Then they upload in a second attempt, so it's not a minimum pixel size issue.

wish you a nice ride.. still waiting from June :P

Assuming that someone still uploads files there...  :-\

right :)

Hehe what about that thread I've read somewhere to support smaller stock sites and hoping (for the best ;) ) that some day they will be competition for bigger players? :D

I have no problem regarding that, I have more than 1k pictures at YAY, they aren't going well but maybe it's just me :P

Nah, I guess it's just everyone. :D Pity because for me Yay is most usable and user friendly stock I've ever seen. At least from submitter's point of view.

true just like GLO, upload and its all "good"
