Mat off topic question.. is approval ratio at FT relevant?

Yeah you get 110% approval but youre previous shots gets thrown into the dustbin. Tisk, tisk, tisk. ha, ha.

merry xmas.

I am asking this because my approval ratio at FT is the lowest around all agencies, like 40%

Mentioned artefacts and noise, over-saturation, everything caused by high ISO. From my experience, Canon 50D gives unacceptable noise above 200 ISO..."

Agree.  This was shot at 800 ISO.  Is anyone having much luck submitting at over 400 ISO?  With my D300 I rarely try anything over 200 ISO for stock.

fred

I have pictures with 800 ISO approved and no noise reduction, well exposed we get nice results

it rocks :)

like when you comment the pictures below (gets more personal)
music is cool also (tom waits and bruce)
pictures are stunning (maybe too much wedding or is your main focus? I guessed you were just in stock)

overall is a very easy friendly, and relaxing to see, looks like a fun photographer, nice to hire perhaps!

notice another thing sometimes you have to grey letter like in price and other tab.. hard to see something without selecting

You can have always RM at Alamy or other agencies but must be RM

Interesting reading. I'm especially impressed with the full timers incomes and the six people over $100K a year. I still assert that the people on this forum represent the top microstock shooters, or at least the top 5% are represented here. Nice work!

Amusing will be the 19% IS exclusive and if that changed with the new programs there.

Average is distorted by the small number of people, 1.5%, who are way over and above the rest. I suppose you could do median income and come up with something?

One of the things that makes it difficult for you to produce good numbers, is the variety of efforts. The breakdown based on "full time" was a good one. Maybe you can do something based on number of images online? (or did you do that already)

As I've pointed out, if I delete all my non-selling images, my RPI goes way up!  ;D It's getting a little complicated for the survey, but personally, if I only add up sold images and figure what the average download income is, I have a nice number to look at.

But assuming that people are not cooking the books, number of images online on agency X and income for agency X, then number of images for agency Y and sales for agency Y... Etc. will give you some really strong information on not only agencies but also sales for individuals. Example I have 250 images on "Crapstock" and earned $2.50 in total sales for the year, the RPI is 1 cent per image annually.

Yeah, some interesting thoughts.

It would be fun to look at the stats for everyone with over 1000 images for example.  Like you said, the few people with over 100,000 in income are brining the average way up, but at the same time the few people with income under $1000 are also brining the average way down.

I am also interested to see if iStock's recent actions will have any effect on the exclusive %

True, for sure a lot more % is under the 1000$ (but we cannot forget that we are looking into around 70 microstockers)

I am anxious to get into the 2010 survey to bring numbers down :P

I haven't got a single rejection for a resubmitted picture so I just want to thanks IS for letting me know what I have done wrong, I guess thats a good reason

Same here.  I often use the resubmit option, when it's available, and can't remember ever getting a resubmitted image rejected the second time around.

Not sure if it makes a difference, but I always put a note in the description field when I resubmit, saying something like **logo cloned out**, or **problem fixed**.

I have never put a note regardind the "fix" and no problem, but sure it is a good idea

Adobe Stock / Re: Any pattern behind fotolia reviews...?
« on: December 20, 2010, 09:52 »
Fotolia is different from most other sites, the queue seems to be sorted by upload date not by submission date.
If you upload and image and submit it after a week or so, usually it is inspected in a matter of minutes.

exactly which is quite nice :)

It does say on the site somewhere that they are testing paying people for questions.  Some of the questions are really dumb but so are some people.

Go and ask 100 people "What is the language of Portugal?" and I bet some wont have a clue.

I have also seen some good answers that you wouldn't find elsewhere.

I have answered two of them, I am a * genius! :)

I only connected my adsense account today.  When I joined 8 days ago, they asked for 200 answers or 10 awarded answers before you could get earnings from adsense.  They must of changed that in the last week, making it much easier.  I did a lot of research and can see some people making money there but I think all these things take a lot of time to get going.  I will let you know how I am doing in a few months.

It looks interesting, but we may feel tempted to give fast answers, not very useful answers.. lol I guess with good answers etc getting awards it can go for good but a lot of work, just like stock..

I'm always looking for new ways to make some extra money and recently I came across webanswers.  Sign up with them and answer 10 questions and they will share the AdSense revenue when people look at adverts on their pages.  There's a photography section that might interest people here.

It's not likely to be a big earner but might be worth looking at for people who use AdSense or anyone that likes answering questions.  They have also just started a referral scheme, so mines in the link below.

I am looking into it, I have answered a few questions so far, have a Adsense account on my blog but have taken that out once the income was ridiculous small.. 3 euros from almost a year online! I see you have an awarded answer, how much have you earn?

No plans on buying Getty. I did open up a micro last month for my own work though, so I see a lot of promotion and SEO in my future. 2010 was a weird year in micro after a great 2009. I definitely need a new game plan for 2011. What that is, I'm not quite sure yet.

very nice job :)

Is it worthwhile submitting to Crestock now they've had a change of management? My acceptance rate there used to be about 2% so it was a bit of a waste of time for me so I closed my account with them. I'm at around 50% at Istock and 90% at other agencies so I know my work isn't completely rubbish!

Honestly I don't get them.. They are so picky keeping the best collection possible but after all only a few top contributors have a little success there.. I have sent a batch in the past (like 10 months ago) and also massively rejected.. They have a sweet upload system but to have 5% approved don't think it is worth.. Maybe will try again one of these days but don't believe they will go strong..
