That does sound a little odd aly, best bet is to wait to hear back from SS. If 9 were approved, then that should be a pass.
Hope you get it sorted out.

Do they mean, "we sell the same images that are on other sites, where these companies have bought the images"....?
You are right, up and running again, but VERY slow for me. In terms of both site loading time, and sales...

So you design a logo, it sells for 250 credits, depending on your royalty level you might get 80 euro and you can never sell the logo again? Nice 80 pop, but I dont know if its worth it.
Thats just the thing - have contributors made these? There are no signs that they have. No accreditation to anyone, no links to portfolios. I am thinking these are in-house designs, thus its just 250 credits to 123RF entirely.

Congrats ClaridgeJ, sure would be a nice feeling to see the total jump up by 84!
Just on another point, I have noticed SS return to almost normal sales figures since last Friday onward. Both Friday and today have been great, couple of ED's, few OD's etc.
It seems the holiday slump is over. Slightly earlier than I was expecting.

Anyone else noticed 'Logo' as a category now at the top of the 123RF site, along with photos, vectors and footage? http://www.123rf.com/logo/The interesting thing about it is that the logo's aren't credited to anyone as far as I can see, so it seems like they might be in-house creations? Also, they sell for 250 credits, and are a one-time sale. Part of the terms is that they will be exclusive, and 123RF will remove the file immediately after sale. What are your thoughts?

Another hour of Googling led me to find this brilliant piece of information...
I was having the same issue and I basically stumbled upon this fix. Find the file named AddExporterList.txt located at C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder CS6\txt (win) or /Applications/Adobe Media Encoder CS6/Adobe Media Encoder CS6.app/Contents/Resources/txt/AddExporterList.txt (mac) Save an original copy somewhere else. Copy/Paste or delete as necessary to make the new file look like this: # MediaCore Plugins # AME Plugins AudioWriter WinMediaWriter # AME Plugin Formats MPEG4 H.264 Blu-ray Hit save and restart AME. Voila! It worked for me and hopefully it will work for you.
This added a WHOLE BUNCH of codecs to AME, and I now have quicktime and photojpg and a bunch of others. It seems that if you install the CS Master Suite, then you get these codecs displaying. If you install a smaller quite, the codecs are still there but not displayed. Tricky stuff Adobe.
Anyway, if anyone has still got some tips for me for ideal settings etc for export I would be happy to hear them. Still much to learn - Aspect square pixels or 1.5? And so on...
Just so glad i got it to work!

I have taken a look through previous threads, and also done some google searching, but I still can't find a clear answer (that I can understand!).
I am just starting to add footage to my portfolio, shooting on my D800. At this stage I am not really interested in getting too fancy with After Effects etc, so was just hoping to use Adobe Media Encoder CS5 that I have to process my clips as needed. Primarily, just to remove the audio.
My D800 produces 1080p files with MOV extension right out of camera. If I inspect the file in Quicktime, it shows these stats:
H.264, 1,920 x 1,080 Linear PCM, 16 bit little-endian signed integer, 2 channels, 48000 Hz
Now Adobe Media Encoder has two output options for me H.264 and FLV/F4V. I chose H.264 as that is what the file already is, chose the highest quality broadcast settings and exported the file. However, it exports it with a .mp4 extension, not a .MOV extension.
From what I read on SS and Pond5, they want .MOV, or PhotoJPG
Thus my question (finally) - How can I export my clips using Adobe Media Encoder CS5 to a format that the stock sites will approve? Will .mp4 be rejected? Is there a better way of going about this? Is there a way of exporting that doesn't use compression, just removes audio? (seems thats what the sites say they want, no compression)
Thanks all in advance for your help.

Too dang cold here. We're nearly finished packing. Probably leave tomorrow; maybe Friday. Headed for Florida -- destination, Key West! Pulling the RV with unplanned stops along the way. Stops in Everglades on the way in and coming out are planned (extended stay) stops. Hope to increase the nature, wildlife, landscape ports but the primary objective is FUN... Warm Fun.
Nice! "Too dang cold" hey... we have 40 degrees Celsius today, 44 tomorrow here! Too dang hot... But then thats Australia in summer

I've been on the opposite side of things to you fotografer, 17 out of 20 of my last sales have been credit sales, thankfully some nice big ones too.
Without them December sales would have been a disaster for DT, as sales volume was HALF of last December for me at DT. The large credit sales managed to make earnings about the same though.

Just had to revive my old thread to say a big thank you again to all those who gave their thoughts on the D800 questions. I really appreciate it. I scored a great deal (for Australia at least) and got a D800, a 24-70 2.8 and a 32GB Sandisk extreme card just the other day. So far, VERY happy with it and looking forward to putting it through its paces properly over the next few months.

Welcome Brett! I have often looked at your portfolio and I am sure that you will do well as an indie, if thats the way you decide to go. It seems the general consensus from a few former exclusives is that first 12 months is a loss, but then it should rise above previous earnings - if your work is accepted at the major sites of course. I have written a little bit on it here: http://www.microstockman.com/leaving-istockphoto-exclusivity/ (which relates to IS exclusives, not DT, but the principles remain the same) As was mentioned, you can sign up to Shutterstock and get images ready before making them live. Definitely the way to go. All the best with it mate.

Exact same email response arrived today. It's really quite a shame to see agencies indifferent to the security concerns of contributors. I was hoping for a better response.

Aren't other sites like tutsplus.com, which is part of the Envato network (Photodune, graphic river etc) basically the same as this? They offer some freebies but try and get people to sign up to a "Premium" service. And people can contribute tutorials to it - they have sometimes asked for it on the forums at ThemeForest.
It seems to have worked well for Envato.

Is this another case of Superhug Syndrome - agency closing without a word, with no mention of where our images are gone? I sincerely hope not.
But if so, I don't think any new agency will be seeing my images in the next few years. It's getting too risky. I'm starting to think a new agency must be around for 2-3 years before I consider them reliable.
It's a sad reflection on our industry.

Very interesting, thanks for the info guys. I knew I must have been missing something.
Appreciate the links jsnover - although the adobe rep was a bit snarky in his replies in the first link!

wow, it's terrible to see this kind of thing. You should report it to Shutterstock immediately with links to the relevant images, and see what they have to say.

Perhaps someone with more I.T. know-how can explain this for me...
Running Photoshop CS5 on a Mac with 4GB RAM. I open say 12 large files (EPS converted to Raster), all the while having Activity Monitor (a resource usage program, for those who don't know Mac software) running and I watch the memory usage of Photoshop go up with each file that opens.
Fair enough.
Then as I do my work and close off each file, the memory usage stays the same, despite the number of open files halving, or even reducing completely. So Photoshop is now doing less work, but still eating as much memory.
Why would this be? Is this poor programming, or am I missing some technical reason that it makes good sense for it to keep that memory to itself?

Although I'm just a vector contributor, I find it shocking that this is what happens with contributor's photo's. So I emailed them that they should watermark or reduce the size of these images, and change the copyright notice to: " Contributor name | Depositphotos"
Thanks noedelhap,if a few of us write to them about it perhaps it will improve. I emailed them a few days ago too, but haven't heard anything back yet.

I also had a $75 single download for this image:
http://www.shutterstock.com/pic.mhtml?id=61142929
I don't understand how "sensitive use" can apply to that particular image, but I am not complaining about the $75. On that particular day (17/12/2012) I had no less than 6 single downloads for large amounts, though not all of them $75.
Really nice port Eco, love the wildlife shots.
