"Weve noticed over the past year that creatives are increasingly frustrated with the lack of transparency from many stock agencies. Confusing credit packages and erratic price increases are just two issues that leave many designers scratching their heads. "
I don't see this ad addressing any pricing issues at all. Obviously, the only word they thought they could make from iStock is "iStuck", which doesn't make much sense. If you're actually stuck at IS because of company issues, an ad like this won't change anything.
Well, they probably actually wanted to use iSuck, but that could be a legal issue.
beat me to it I was going to mention the "silent T"

I want to buy a dairy cow for the back garden.Fresh milk on my cornflakes ever morning would be bliss !
If you'd saved your 1000, you could have a mini-herd of dairy cows and sell the milk: that way you'd be quids in.
He wouldn't get a very good herd at that price.
Rats are cheaper
Goats, perhaps?

trolling up a storm again. Why don't you start a thread about how good the RC system is, how good istocks submission process is etc

Socials can attend and anyone with an interest in photography will learn something interesting, especially editorial!
I just wish I could understand how to caption editorial for Istock (or should I say I wish they would be consistent in reviewing them), probably shouldn't have to go to Milan for that though.

last 50 photos submitted to shutterstock 54% accepted last 50 photos submitted to bigstock 80% accepted
Interestingly out of the rejected photos at bigstock (10 of them) 5 of them were accepted at shutterstock.
My conclusion things have changed at shutterstock.
If they have a problem with the size of the collection just delete anything that hasn't sold in 3 years, you'd probably knock a couple of million photos out of the collection.
With the above stats I vote for a bridge from bigstock to shutterstock

to me its a very strange portfolio. Heaps of vetta high art type images in the first few pages and then at the end of the portfolio there are some walk around holiday snap type photos, brickwall background shot etc.
A bit of a weird mix

my earnings at fotolia are down about 30% for the first 5 months of this year compared to the first 5 months of last year.
I have increased my portfolio by about 40% in that time. Most other agencies I have seen an increase iin earnings.
I'm at the lower end of the scale compared to you but I am seeing fallings in earnings.
Worthy noting that my royality pecentage has gone from 33% when I started to 23%. Thanks for that.

I'm not an illustrator so forgive me if this is a stupid question
If you take this many hours for one illustration wouldn't it be hard to make fulltime earnings from microstock.
Do illustrations sell more than photos, is there less competition for very detailed works which makes it worth wild ?
I suppose if your able to reuse elements in different images over and over it might be more profitable.

Yes, I would encourage everyone else to clean up their portfolios or perhaps delete them altogether. Thank you

I think if you put them in the free section and got paid money for doing so (I think you get 30 - 50cents) you can't delete them within 5 years without refunding the money.

way to go istock, sales are down, put stuff on sale move customers to thinkstock and increase the targets. (As I expected and predicted) I know it will be hard for most of you to buy me a beer, I'll accept vouchers at Dan Murphy's liquor outlets.

^^^Black Sheep/Old Hippy likes to poke fun at us here. Unfortunately he usually goes way to far at some point and gets banned. Then he reappears a few months later and we go through all this again. Someone did post his real identity here once and I remember that he does this on other forums too.

BME for me on IS in terms of $$$ DL numbers are also the highest they've been for a long time.
Lets see what the summer brings....
Looks like you might have been on the better side of some of the best match changes. Istock for me was down about 45% on last months $$$

no sales so far but it's an interesting alternative niche, we'll see how it goes.
32 posts in 2 days. If you've joined photographers direct then not much point hanging here. They want us all exterminated.

cool thanks for sharing
some good options would be
1) ability to go to the next photos in the search order i.e show me 101-200 in the best match sort order. 2) A couple of standard lists that you can also select from like (nobody, day, horizontal, vertical, outdoors, indoors, colour, male, female, etc.)

it says "partial void" so being that it was last year it's possible that istock gave the customer a partial refund but they covered that and did not ding you any of your royalties. yes, i think it is possible that there are still a few good things that istock does for its contributors now and then.
You mean....
Are you really saying...
Does that mean I did not get screwed over by IS?
I wouldn't bet money on it

It's hard to see how can one get a decent return on investment traveling in expensive european cities like London or Stockholm.
The most dangerous place in my opinion is still south america and especially Colombia, Peru, and Brazil. Plenty of people there who would kill somebody for a DSLR.
Yeah best not to travel anywhere. Its expensive and full of killers just waiting for you to turn up with things they can rob.
I was travelling in Scotland one time and a pair of young tourists (country withheld) were complaining that Scotland was a dumb place because they had A4 paper not foolscap. Life must be pretty annoying if you have an attitude like that. I've never been to South America,I heard some great and some not so great stories relating to security.

yeah it sucks , some of the rejections for copywrite are on the conservative side even to the point of stupidity.
If in doubt Clone it out, if your convienced it not a problem clone it out too.
The ones I hate the most are when you fix the photo then it gets rejected for another reason.
Atleast Istocks rejection reasons you can make some sense of them compared to others such as Fotolia

looks like additional keywords are added, I wonder where they are coming from
Can't see anywhere where it says (c) mediabakery Can somebody tell me where to look.
Personally I only really care that I get money from any sales and they can't be downloaded for free and have a suitable watermark on the thumbnail

Travel insurance is essential, not only for theft but if you get sick, injured etc.
My last trip to Europe was Spain, portugal and England there was only one time I was worried about theft. (Evening photos in Porto on my own, a guy after money for the train) I get more worried in my own city. (maybe because you hear what happens).
I'm still going through photos from that trip, I doubt it would ever turn a profit but it was a family holiday which I would have taken photos anyway.
I'd recommend a camera bag that doesn't look like a camera bag and don't let it out of your site for a second.

I'd go nuts without my SLR on a overseas trip. Photography hasn't yet turned into a work like chore for me and taking photos is one of the reasons I like to travel.
Point and shoot annoy me
