You are lucky, they actually robbed me in February and since than all my later sales are still uncleared. Current amount is still not enough for a lawsuit, but if this continue for a few months or more I will probably go in that direction.
Here is the story: 2 days before end of February I had 81$ cleared so I expected my payment to be initiated at the beginning of March. At that moment I had one bigger sale but off course that amount was uncleared and I didn't expect be payed at the beginning of March. A few days later I was checking my balance for a payment when I saw that last sale was refunded. There was no doubt about which sale was refunded because there was a notice "Original sales on 27th of February". But that refund WAS IMMEDIATELY CLEARED unlike original sale and that lowered my cleared amount from 81$ before 27th of February to 32$ !!! All later sales from 5th of March until today 8th of May are still uncleared including that one from 27th of February so I am still on 32$ cleared. I wrote them dozen of times, first to general support and than to legal department but didn't get any explanation for that. I send them very specific questions but didn't get any single answer to them, just general comments. At least they didn't mentioned Covid-19 as an excuse.
I am not a lawyer, but the fact that they lowered my previously cleared amount with refund to sales which came after that is very illegal.
It happens , and not only on Alamy.

What on earth does jumpstory mean by "photo guarantee" which it says the other sites don't offer?

The upload problem has started beginnning of march. No lockdown due to covid 19 at this time. So I complained on the Alamy forum and soon uploading was possible and the QC time was fast, very fast. But after something like 2 weeks the upload problem was there again. It was during the last 10 days of march. I have written to the alamy contributors team several times but their answers were irrelevant. Then they stopped answering beginning of april. And the upload problem remains.
It's the same for everyone (see forum) , not just you. "Posted April 30 Due to currently working with a reduced team, QC times will be longer than usual for some users."

Upload freeze for one month now. I emailed them several times, they answered in a nonsensical way.
You do realize that there is a Lockdown in the UK? Its going to limit responses
and what was the "nonsenical" response?
From their official forum post, 3rd April: " During these uncertain and challenging times that we're all facing in our personal and professional lives, you may notice some changes over the coming months that have an impact on how you normally work with Alamy as contributors. I thought it would be best to broadly outline some of the key areas below whilst a number of staff are on extended leave: You may well notice considerably longer QC approval wait times We're unable to provide our usual level of support via the Contributor Relations team. Responses will either be severely delayed or you may be pointed back to the support forum here until further notice Updates to the "What Should I Shoot" tool will be paused Social media updates and trends tips will be reduced / paused Contributor marketing / guides / tips communications via email will be paused Response to new unauthorised use claims will be delayed For any urgent legal or copyright inquiries you have, you can email the team via [email protected] "(which sounded to me as if they had furloughed staff, because Support in particular could presumably relatively easily be carried out from home: but that's only my speculation).

If you go to the exclusive forum on the iStock forums, you'll see on the first page there are two threads dealing with leaving excusivity. KelvinJay is a moderator there and his answers are as official as you'll get.

Word is that these sales are a year's worth of Connect sales. Which confuses me, as there seem to be a few each month. Again, smoke and mirrors. Again, please feed back what they tell you.

Hi,
I've been reading these forums on occasion for sometime, particularly when I'm bored at work (don't tell my boss!) but this is my first post.
I've noticed I've had my whole catalogue of 1,200 images downloaded in one day on IStock. All by the same location, sold through Getty. I only noticed because even the older images that don't sell as well have been downloaded and when I looked through, it's every single photo I've uploaded.
The only reason I could think of someone downloading them all is to upload them elsewhere. The subject matters are so varied, I don't know why these would be useful for someone unless it's to re-sell the photos.
Am I right to be suspicious? I'm exclusive and I'm assuming iStock would have protection for this kind of thing if they were uploaded and sold elsewhere?
Thanks.
Please feed back any info you get. Are they tiny-value sales to 'California' and 'Fixed Usage Fee'? That might be via Connect, but best to get an official answer.

is there any easy way (like uploading a .csv file) to keyword items at alamy? or does it have to be done individually for every single photo?
thanks!
I'm pretty sure you can't upload a .csv file, but Alamy does read metadata, though you still have to choose your supertags manually. You can batch-edit files, but that's an easy way to get into spam territory. Also be aware - I and others were caught out by this - that you have to positively deselect an image/s before selecting an/other image/s to edit, or your 2nd file edits get appended to your first file/s. In case you haven't seen them (and even if you have, someone else might find the resources useful): https://www.alamy.com/blog/tagging-images-on-alamyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DeGewd73uw&t=346s

This is apart from stuff like Pinterest and apart from pay-per-view stuff. I have lots of those also reported in connect.txt.
This is 0.4 cent sales of every image in my portfolio (4000+ images). My connetc.txt file for March has about 5000 lines, one for each sale. Every file? For sure I'd take out a support ticket (good luck with that: some tickets just 'disappear' without being answered.) I have a very few small value sales listed as 'RF Image' sold to buyers in South Korea or China I wish Getty would explain stuff like this.
Wouldn't that be nice? There is such a lack of transparency over there, I can't make my figures in iS, TodayIs20 or Deep Meta balance, and all the explanations for why that is so raise more questions than they ask. They've always loved obfuscation, or at least all the 13 years I've been on there. But since ESP, it's been much worse.

Once you open DeepMeta, it will give you the option to download the latest version, 3.17.2 ... and the Auto-Start option is available for Windows. I like it.
That's what it does usually, but it's not offering me a latest version at the moment. Still, I can do a sync, though the auto-sync will be better!

Where did you see the statement? I checked DM and ESP website and could not find the data.
Thanks.
ESP > Royalties, as usual. AFAIK, DM doesn't show your new figures automatically, you have to perform a sync to bring the new month's stats onboard.
The latest DM version (3.17.2) now has an "Auto-start" checkbox option under "Sync" which automatically runs a sync when it logs in, so it will fetch the latest stats as soon as they are available.
Thanks for the info: is that Mac-only? I just downloaded DM from Franky's site and I got 3.16.8, whereas I had been at 3.16.7. Or are you a beta tester - I see they have newer beta versions.

Poor month here, but I have no covid content, so not surprising. I'm sure April will be even worse.

Thanks ShadySue
I found that piece of information but all it says is that fixed usage fee means that a customer pays a fixed price for a high volume of files and makes the content available to their users for a defined use.
So there is a customer who wants to use my images and buys them all and I am paid 17 dollars or 0.4 cents per image. But the rights of use is not limited to the customer who bought my images. The customers of the customers ("the users") also have the right to use my images - for a defined use.
For me this reads like my whole portfolio is now in public domain.
Maybe this is just Google paying to Getty for "reasonable use" and photographers receiving a one-time payment for the use of their portfolio. So 17 dollars...
I think it's pay-per-view, e.g. Pinterest, but it's really difficult to find any concrete info about the scheme (unless you sign up as a buyer). And their legalese always seems to allow them a lot of wiggle room/variety of interpretation.

Checking March income statement for espgetty I see that I have made about 20 dollars from various items reported in connect summary statement.
Most of it comes from items under fixed usage fees.
Connect.txt reports these sales one by one and I have about 4000 sales there (all or most of my portofolio in iStock). The data in each of these 4000 sales is the same: Getty, California, 0.02683, 0.15000, 0.00403.
So Getty has sold all my images as fixed usage for 2.7 cents and I am paid 0.4 cents per image totaling about 17 dollars.
There is no information about the buyer nor have I found any explanation for the term "fixed usage fee" or the nature of these sales.
I was under the impression that connect sales were view based royalties from embedded images.
I have not been active in espgetty for a year and might have missed some info about these fixed usage sales.
I wonder what this is all about. Anyone else having similar fixed usage sales?
Fixed usage is like a very micro RM. Somone who used to post here regularly said these could be for as little as four hours, but I don't know where s/he got that information. We aren't allowed to post direct links to their forum, but if you go to their forum > iStock discussions > iStock Royalties - published April and read the OP, you'll find a link to some info about Fixed Usage/Connect.

As Stocksubmitter now supports istock esp is it also possible to upload to Getty esp? It is general the same upload process and if possible how can I add a Getty esp account? I would like to upload to Getty as well to iStock depending on the foto series but I would love to use Stocksubmitter for that! thanks in advance!
It's almost impossible for an iStock contributor to be accepted to submit directly to Getty nowadays. You'd need to apply to Getty directly, and I've never read of an iStocker being accepted there in the past 2 or 3 years. Of course, it could be that those who were accepted are sworn to secrecy, so I only read of rejections. If you are iStock exclusive, all your editorial files and a selection of your other files will be mirrored on Getty. Not so if indie. However, in that case you only get 20% of all sales rather than your exclusive iS percentage.

A guy I know who has been out and about photographing corona-related editorial/Live News in the UK (he's very much a full time Live News tog and has accreditation) has been getting plenty of sales, but like you say, unsurprisingly a dearth of other sales. Same guy actually found an old photo of mine in a newspaper today, so my month may not end with exactly zero!

in the tax form. What do you give for the UK please? NI number?
As a UK citizen I don't even seem to qualify for an ITIN or EIN or whatever the given options are....
UPDATE - NI number.
Oh, I used my UTR (Unique Tax Reference). Maybe they accept either.

The CDC has reversed its recommendations about using face masks as the coronavirus pandemic develops.
You left out the part where Trump told everyone it was voluntary several times, and also said several times he wont be wearing one, while standing right next to all his cronies.
And what heads of state, presidents, dictators, kings or queens are going to be visiting him in the White House during the pandemic?

I don't see how reducing prices on something that's already * cheap can help the situation.
It's desperation. The clothing companies I've bought from before are constantly bombarding me with heavily-reduced offers, but what on earth do I need new clothes for, at any price? (I don't have to do working video conferences, meetings etc.)

Yeah, but when did agencies ever think about us? Still, there could be an argument that something is better than nothing.
