I agree with sharply, I took a look at it. The only way I see this image might be accepted is by downsizing it to 3 MP after you applied noise reduction on photoshop. Even then I do not know if it would be accepted. However I think with this much of sky and this much of grey area in your image you do have more noise in here then in other images.
The best way to downsize is with photoshop with bicubic. Then save it with JPG 12.
If you have really amazing images with your camera, which you think might have lots of sales, I do think they can be saved with lots of effort. All my penguin images are shot with a 3MP Olympus 720UZ camera. And I still get manipulated images accepted at all agencies .

I used it for a few pics. It was extremly slow on my computer, so I stopped using it. In the shareware version you just can submit 5 a day. And you still have to go to the agencies to put in the categories. So it was not saving any of my time.

What???! ISO 25600?? That sounds noisy..

I never heard an image is to sharp. sharp sounds good  :). Maybe the mean your isolation.
When you downsized it to 4MP, the edges became too sharp and not smooth enough anymore?

When I saw that the first time on an american document I had to fill out, I was confused myself :)

Wow, that indeed looks nice, impressive! Since I am also an aircraft mechanic stugying to get a diploma as an aviation and spacecraft engineer, I have seen a lot of aircraft magazines. I would say this cover with your picture on it is one of the best I have seen so far. And its not even an aircraft newspaper I guess :)

It means to wite the name down in clear big letters like your name e.g. KHWI instead of Khwi. Thats what I understand.

Thanks snem and the others! It was a surprise for me, did not expect that at all... :) I do not think I get the $5000 only 1 tenth of a chance and I have to compete against amazing photography. However it is still nice to made it up there. Thanks to those who voted for me!

Yes thats why we Europeans are so bad photographers we cannot afford the equipment ;)

Yeah I can second what sharply said, I have the 28-300 from Tamron without IS or VC in this case. It is a perfect allround lens for the hobby photographer, but it is not good for stock. The quality 200-300mm on the Tamron is so bad, that often even when you downsize the image to 3MP from 6 MP it is not good enough for stock. I very seldom get a sharp photo out of it in this range, but maybe I am not a good photographer, however, I shot some images with the 50 mm Canon prime less... I did not know an image can be so sharp up to this point, I was totaly astonished. But it might be that tamron improved and maybe I had a bad copy of the lens. I

I had now a few times requests via sitemail on IS about my images, if they are available in a bigger size or recently, if I can add something to the image. Now for the first time it seems like I do have what the custumer requests. What do you guys do then? Do you charge them? If yes how? Paypal, is it legal from IS position? Thanks!

I am from Europe and do not have an increase of sales, for me sales went slightly down too.. Not dramatically, but the general trend seems to be that my earnings stayed the same or decreased slightly. But this is not good compared to other sites, because everywhere else my sales seem to increase.

Hi leaf, nice to see you back and to be still alive :).
Daneel, have you considered a flash? They are very usefull, much better than the on camera flash. And it is not soo expensive. The Sigma DG 500 Super is I think quite a deal, apart from its built quality.

Stockxpert apparently will offer subscription service and footage soon. I would be interesting what prices they would have. Maybe Steve-oh can enlighten as  :), as well as when StockXpert actually will offer this services.

First application? Does it mean if you fail the first aplication you have to send the images via CD?

I'm new in the business (since june) and everywhere else i have downloaded pictures. But zero at istock???

Where everywhere are you? If you are with the big 6 to the right and have everywhere downloads, that is weird indeed. But keep submitting, istock is for many of us the best income/image.

I guess many buyers still search according the best match search. My Theory is, when an image got a little downloads being new and only good to find by the "Age" search it moves up in the "best Match". If it gets no downloads it does not move up the "best match" search. Thats only a theory.
But I do have an image which is  quite new - 1-2 month. And it is my best seller together with an older image.

So ... does that mean that from now on, under the new IS system, any images that don't sell immediately are less likely to ever sell? They just get lost in the mix like on SS? That's disappointing to say the least  :-\

No, I would not say so. I do belive that how it sells in the beginning affects the best match, but there are plenty of other factors which play into best match. (And they change it once in a while) However I think if it does not sell at all for a month or two it is very unlikely that it will ever have lots of sales. But if you have good images in general, it is likely that they start to sell more and more to a certain extend. So that is quite different to SS. At SS you have to constantly upload and it even will affect your other images in your portfolio.

I just had for one image the second download after about a year. So you can still find it.
