123RF / Re: 123RF Top Tier - Big 5?« on: September 27, 2011, 13:27 »
I agree that 123RF is on the rise. Each month lately has been a BME for me there.
But Top Tier? Big 5? By my numbers, no, not by a long shot. To me, 123RF is regularly behind BigStock, if only a little bit. For perspective, DT is my #4, and 123 typically earns just under 1/3 of what I earn at DT. For now, 123 is the definition of Middle Tier. But like the rest of you, I'd love to see it continue its growth and earn a spot at the top. It's fair and a great agency to deal with. 654
General Stock Discussion / Big increase in ELs at Shutterstock?« on: September 26, 2011, 18:33 »
I normally get two ELs at SS a month.
However, starting last week, the EL floodgates opened. I have received a dozen and counting in just four days and change. Several of those came over the weekend, which is really baffling. Image subject matter is all over the place, so I don't think it's the same buyer. And I don't think it's due to the end of the Summer Slump, because my SS sales started picking up right around Sept 1 and have been steady since then. The EL rush started in the last few days. Anyone else seeing a rise in these? Something must be triggering the increase. Could SS be promoting ELs more heavily? Should I be concerned that these aren't legitimate sales (bad credit cards, etc?) 655

Image Sleuth / Re: Another dodgy Shutterstock portfolio, sigh« on: September 23, 2011, 13:00 »
Good catches. I'm shocked no one else has chimed in on this yet. I don't see any of my images infringed upon by this collection, but someone needs to turn this person in. Have you alerted Shutterstock?

Illustration - General / Re: Anyone having good luck at Veer?« on: September 23, 2011, 07:15 »
Veer is a bottom dweller. Not worth the time. I'm having a BME on almost every other site, but Veer is still returning in the very low two figures a month. Granted, I gave up uploading to Veer a long time ago, but I still expected my port there to gather momentum at some point. To me, they rank with Crestock as the losers in this industry.

Adobe Stock / Re: How do I sign up as a contributor ?« on: September 21, 2011, 10:07 »Ok, great. I have given up trying to get on SS as it's nigh on impossible. Also, I hear their rejection rate is high now also. I've been on SS for nearly three years now, and I don't remember it being too tough. I think I got something like 5 of the 10 submissions rejected the first try, then stepped back and looked at what I was submitting. I changed the mix to reflect a greater variety of topics, and made absolutely sure there weren't any flaws. On the second try all 10 were accepted. As for submissions being accepted/rejected once you're approved as a contributor, there's a wide variety of feelings on this forum about that. Me, I'm still sailing through with nearly 100% approvals. Just make sure your stuff is error-free, it appeals to buyers (does it actually meet a need that the existing millions of images don't?), and that you have a unique style (maybe there are other images with similar content, but are you presenting it in a different way to set you apart?) Good luck! |
