Well if the conspiracy theories are thrown out then perhaps
SS have lost a ton of customers

Highly likely thats exactly whats happening.

Yep!  I had counted them out and left them for dead and then I recieve one of the largest payouts in 12 years time! into a 5-figure amount. Guess I start uploading again there.
Could it be that they somehow are staggering back and its weakening SS who according to lots of fairly big contributors in their own forum is just terrible. I dont know but something is cooking.

That's a great surprise. I haven't had one of those in a long time but I remeber my largest one with them long time ago close to 30k. Unfortunatelly all those magic vanished too quickly.
I hope that your thought of the weakening of SS could come true. On the contrary that the majority of the contributors here I blame SS to the rapid demise of the industry.....more so that the one that everybody points fingers at. Not that I want to defend Getty because I think they suck contributors blood everytime they can. But it was who SS implemented the ultra low subscriptions. Getty at least tried with Vetta/Agency, mantained RM, defended only credit sales, and had decent prices for a while till it was not more feasable with the breath of SS on their necks. Now we are in this crazy battle of ultra low prices where nobody wins but the customers.

The fact is that SS is loosing steam. Getty cannot get the content they want because the kind of content they want is not feasable anymore with those prices. Adobe is slowly crawling up in the game.....and all the others are lingering........ lets see how everything goes in the next future.......
I blame the "professionals" who flooded a marketplace intended for small players and amateurs with images......well actually I don't blame anyone anymore than I blame the moon for the tide coming in.
[/quote

Yes well if anyone is to blame its ourselves! we have showed we are like a pack of lemmings and showed them no matter what we come back for more. We all stood for it falling prices and less commissions and still came back for more. Surely they must look upon us like a bunch of imbeciles throwing us a bone or something and we chew!...haha! sounds crazy doesnt it. SS was the goodie two shoes for years but that was all on top and business is business I suppose. They have however a big part in the falling commissions and pricing.

Blend is a distributor and they do work with adobe-ft. There are better Rm agencies. I wouldn't bother.
Derek, is imagesource a better place to submit an application?

It depends! but with your material I have seen a little ( brilliant) I would rather go for agencies like Trevellian and Arcangel. They love the stuff that you produce. Like tailormade for it.

Dumc!!  of course! and it stands to reason. In order to make sure of a constant flow of good and commercial images you have to nurse the ones producing them. This is old news and used to be the case in the old agencies long before micro stock came about.
Then you have the factories and distributors who needs looking after. The small single contributor is way down the list.

Make no mistake nowadays people who are unhappy will quit and take their portfolios with them placing them elsewhere and mostly in the macro market agencies where if its a niched portfolio you can negotiate a deal or something. This happens frequently and especially with agencies like SS and IS.
I reckon if they are any good they don't need nursing.

Nah youre wrong there believe me they need nursing weather good or bad. Just take GI as an example. Agencies like Blend, SPL and Photo-source always gets right up there in their search. Just common sense really if you want their tens of thousands im images. I would do the same if I governed an agency. Nothing wrong there its been done for years.

This claim is ridicilous, I only have about 1200 images, and I have plenty of files on first page for main keyword, whether best match or popular...

Sure!  so do I. Not exactly what I meant though. ::)

I much rather prefer a conspiracy!  at least then we know why everything is just going wrong with SS these days!

662
Blimey whats it come to?  now the reviewers cant even tell the difference between a 3D image and a photo image/illustration. I cant believe it! I suppose if one supplied a 3D image they would think its a photo. ::)

About 35,000 +/- 5000

So, $15-20k a month?  What are you shooting?
The good question is "What are you smoking?" (maybe)

I'm just smoking ordinary weed and  I'm around $15-20 as well!  got a joint there if anybody wants! ;D

This is the kiss of death!!  truth is that stocksy probably needs extra business! and at the same time it seems Adobe will cash in??over the years I have got to know quite a few people at stocksy and they are not too happy. Editorial??  well Alamy have got billions of that. Whats the point of saturating, flooding the market even more?  I'm out of Adobe!  they should stick to what they do best, programs and softwares!

Congrats! That is very good news to hear.

In a recent thread there were conspiracies of "capped earnings" - when you reach a certain point they turn your port off.

Let us know how the rest of your June goes so we can help prove or disprove these theories :) Will sales keep going great or fall off the cliff.
I think people carrying on believing what they want to believe.....good sales = "I'm a brilliant photographer" bad sales=  "SS have a vendetta against experienced/high earning/American/new content"

Sounds like a Chinese proverb! ;D

haha! not here mate. Same old doom and gloom. You must be one of the lucky chosen. SS was the one for many years but I have sort of given up on micro nowadays and concentrate to 90 % on a couple of macro agencies. I do lots of assignment photography as well and its all very time concuming.:D

Check your rank: if you "stand still" and so does your rank, it means "everybody" else is "standing still" as well.

Cheers!!  well in that case I have fallen of a cliff completely. My overall rank is: 408   but my weekly rank have dropped from 1400 to 3604 and thats just over the last three weeks!
Guess I am one of the chosen ones to give preference to new comers.

Seriously how can agencies possibly expect members to produce good and commercial content if they muck around like this? better off just uploading the same old sheit one keep seeing lately!

Glad to hear you are doing well on Macro agencies derek! Congrats to all making BME too!

I'm still down 30-35% but accommodating my life for this. The anger is wearing off...

but you were supposed to join a macro agency if I remember. Have you done that yet?  I think that in a year or two they will be the ones that prevail. They still go for quality and not just quantity and that might be the reason for the surge in sales. :)

Depends! a friend or somebody I know in Poland told me theyve never had it so good. you see $ 10 a day there goes a long way. he keeps uploading like mad all middle of the road sort of images and his takings are just increasing all the time. He has a port of 900 files and takes around 800-900 dollars a month which I recon is quite impressive for such a smallish port.
I mean really lets face it the days when one could sit and produce HCV files involving people and props this and that thinking you increase earnings are long gone. Today its just a matter of bunging them in thats it.

If I was in business of owning a stock-agency!  well its quite obvious I would let the money go towards the parts of the world that uploaded the most that gave me the most assets. In this case files being assets. If I didnt do that I would be a stupido and not worthy being the owner. :D  quite simple actually.

Extremely good from the macro agencies close to a five figure amount. Micro stock was Ok with DT really shooting upwards with Adobe so and so but as I am an oldie with SS it turned out pretty poor!

Isaw it was a mistake now. Although a copyright sale can fetch BIG money buying the rights of a picture. Had one myself in April for $ 2030. Big sales do happen but nowadays they are few.

Sorry for you it was a mistake!

There are 2 million video clips on SS. What is there to figure out? The video market is starting to saturate and competition is getting tougher. It happened to photos a while ago. Vectors wasn't too far behind.

Nobody want to admit their work isn't the best available, but buyers are truthful. They download what they want to download. There are no caps on SS. There is growing competition, and growing portfolio of content. Good content and good keywording are the keys to success.

Really??  oh well if you say so. ;D
