Got 5 total and 3 this year.  I guess they did not celebrate 1 year or I missed it :-)

It seem like any agency started after 2007 will have very slim chance for success. I think VM is waste of money for Corbis. They should have bought any of top 6 before they started trying to make it from scratch.

Will istock just sit back and watch FT tempt their exclusives?  I doubt it, this could get nasty.  I seem to lose out both ways.  I don't want to go exclusive with istock but they keep adding on extras, like contributing to Getty and Vetta and it looks like they are going to stop me using photos.com.  Now FT have annoyed me again, I am still sore from the commission cuts and the harsh ranking changes.

I just hope shutterstock will start an exclusive images collection, that might be good option.

Let them fight maybe something good for contributors will come out of this :-)

Canon / Re: Firmware update for 5D mark II for 24- 25fps
« on: October 21, 2009, 16:48 »
I am new to video. What's the big deal about 24,25, 30 or 60 fps?

680
Obviously they want to attract big guys from macro so they can jump into micro before their current ship will sink.

General Stock Discussion / Veer matched YAY today
« on: October 21, 2009, 15:12 »
I sold 3 images on both this year. It means that Veer is growing faster :-)

682
Hmmm, so current contributors are S.O.L?

I like what level I'd be at :)...

Hmm, so if am on FT now and also I sold 5000+ images on SS it will not make me silver :-)

General Stock Discussion / Re: More bad news on economy

I think when you are celebrity in any industry people already know you are making a lot of money so there is no reason to hide it. Besides if you so afraid of competitors you close yourself in your own world.

General Macrostock / What is your experience with Pixtal?

I just signed with them. It seems like they want images bigger than Alamy.

iStock is Canadian.  They don't have to give you one.

Well I am expecting to reach $400 there in next 12 years :-)

My own images that I sell on microstock sites. I just didn't know if the microstock companies frowned upon us selling our images through other merchandise-type websites.

I guess as long as license is non-exclusive you can sell image wherever you want.

692
What do you mean, images sold by you on microstock or images you purchased on microstock?

Aren't agencies required by law to send 1099 if you earned more than $400 per year?

I was curious what the formula is. I wish agencies could give contributors better stats. It would be nice to see what percentage of my images sell. I think Lookstat was trying to do that but they were shutdown by SS :-) All I know than my best images can get around $10 at most at SS. DT gives me also per download earnings. My guess is agencies do not want to show RPI cause it's extremely low for most of contributors.

Total sales in Micro to date for 10 months is now $41,534 from the last ten moths with 2500 images available. Total cost for production $ 40k so in 10 months I am just starting to make money with another 1000 images to add from last years shoot. Actually I have another 3000 to add to Istock but that's going to take a while : )

Can you tell us how do you calculate RPI? If you need to spend 40K to earn 41K it means you really have profit of 1K with 2.5K images gives around .4 RPI. Also some Igencies show RPD numbers which takes into account only files that are download at least once.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Is this stupid idea?
« on: October 17, 2009, 12:16 »
Supply and demand isn't just about volume, and its not just how often a file will sell that should determine its price.
That's actually good point, Maybe price should go up if certain numbers is sold in give period of time. If image is not sold for specific period of time price should start falling down automatically until it reaches minimum or start selling again.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Idea: Micropayment Clearing House
« on: October 16, 2009, 16:11 »
Who do you think buys the most Microstock images, I keep reading about ADs, designers, press, publishers, web masters, but it is 'generic consumers' everyday people that need an image for a printed or online article, presentation, essay, blog, personal website, community leaflet, homework, facebook or just because they like it, these are the largest group of microstock customers.

I seriously doubt that generic Joe needs to buy commercial quality images for their Facebook profile. They would rather snap it with mobile phone or use something from a top page on Google Image Search. Unless he has a business I do not believe he got such a need.

I think Amazon, eBay or any other online store is not interested in a "product" that does not appeal to generic consumer audience. Frankly, who needs stock, designers, press, publishers, web masters?

Random sporadic sales but I should not complain I got $26 DL yesterday :-)

Software - General / What plugins for Lightroom 2 are you using?
« on: October 16, 2009, 14:13 »
At the moment the only one I am rarely using is Photomatix plug-in to generate HDR.
