I don't know if this has been mentioned but it's shocking that model released images can be made available like this.

You beat me to it uvox4 :D

Three cheers for Sean for taking time to do this!!!
IS could learn a lot from Sean.  They should have somebody like him running the place.

Thanks for explaining it Luis and Leaf

As for being given extra just because you are close to the line, that makes no sense to me. If there is a boundary it shouldn't be something that gets shifted just because someone in admin likes you/feels sorry for you. It either exists or it doesn't.
Yes I agree.  If they bump up people that need 2 more credits then the people that need 3 more will want to be bumped up as well.   The line has to be drawn somewhere.

yep like 5% or 10%, not 2 credits come on....
You don't understand my point.  So if they give a 10% leeway what about the people that are 2 credits short of the 10% leeway.  All I'm saying is the line has to be somewhere.

Shouldn't his name be unclickable if he's banned?

I added 7 new sites this year and this one brings me the biggest monthly pay out by quite a big margin.
ETA  I just looked and my RPD there last month was 68c which is about the same as SS was for me last month.

I do not have anything against you. I just dun see to eye for your sin in reporting good contributors with 1 or 2 minor fault. What you are committing is a very bad karma, and i believe one of these days you will feel the same as the victims you reported.  It is right to report contributors who copies exactly and have many unrightful pics from others, but not good contributors who recreate them in new expression and style.

And dun forget, the last ones who get the last laugh is the agencies themeselves, not contributors like us.

I am not going to respond or read your posts anymore as you can't conduct a conversation in a civilized manor. You started out by threatening false allegations and have now moved on to physical threats. I am finished with the conversation.

Your career in stock business will be finished soon as well in the near future.
Oh grow up.  You are acting like a 12 year old!!!!!

That sucks, but hopefully you will bump next month (I think they calculate on the previous 12 months from the current month, rather than calendar year)

Hmmm...wasn't aware of that. Hopefully that is the case, I was under the impression that it was a calendar year thing like istock. Thanks!
It is definitely can change monthly but not sure what day it changes on.

? I only looked through your previous posts to return the favor after you looked at my posting history.
By the way, less then 10% of my posts are in the "image sleuth" section

Anybody that doesn't outright steal has nothing at all to worry about.  Tracing other people's work is stealing and should be reported by anybody who sees it.  It affects us all if it is allowed to go unpunished and Microbius has done nothing to warrant your attacks on him!!!!

General Stock Discussion / Re: A newbies view of the MS market

I don't think that much profit is made from uncollected earnings as they are to some extent cancelled out by what it cost them in admin charges to approve the contributor and review the images.

Your port is full of images that have limited use as stock.   Have a look at the sort of images that sell well and change your subject matter.
Whereupon you'll be competing against all the established high-fliers, some of whom are indicating overall falls in income, particularly at iStock (obviously), but even some indies.
Devil and deep blue sea.

Your photos are lovely, but I could only see a small number via the SS link, not 100 as you mentioned.
Yes you are right also.  It's very difficult to get started in stock nowadays because you are either producing images with limited use or comepeting against the established contributors.   The only way to really get sales nowadays is to do a new take on subjects that sell well.

PhotoDune / Re: Model Releases on PhotoDune - what to do?
« on: January 10, 2013, 12:43 »
Hi guys, I completely understand your frustration and wish I had some better news for you.  But at this point, the only real option is to upload to PhotoDune under the current conditions or to hold off until a better system is in place.  I do know that PhotoDune improvements are being discussed but since PhotoDune is not our only marketplace, it must share developer resources.

I have put together a short and simple demo of how photos should be added to PhotoDune and hope it will help out for those who choose to do so :)

So to recap the process, simply add all photos at once (no folders) to the /bulk_import/photos directory via FTP then add any and all associated release for those photos to the /bulk_import/photos/model_releases/ directory.

All releases will be associated to the images and you will need to do nothing more on your end for that. After this is complete, head over to your dashboard on PhotoDune and process theme from there.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance. [email protected]

That's excellent Josh.  Thankyou I will now have another go at uploading. :D

But I am even more disgusted by the continuing lowering of prices and royalties on other sites.

Seriously __ which sites have lowered prices? Other than FT being forced to wind their neck back in on price increases by customer resistance, I'm not aware of any other instances. At least FT did have the wisdom to recognise the issue rather than 'doing an Istock' and ignoring their customers' concerns entirely.
Introducing subs is lowering prices and there are many agencies that did introduce subs and now these sales are the majority on these sites for example FL and DT.
Even with subs my RPD at DT is still over double and sometimes treble what it is at IS and my earnings are also over double what they are at IS. My RPD at fotolia is about the same as at IS as are the earnings.

I was actually pleased when I got a couple of negatives on a post I wrote as it made me think twice before I post, about how things can be taken in a way you didn't mean them to.

Dreamstime.com / Re: Are DT sales being reported?
« on: January 02, 2013, 11:44 »
The sales that are coming through for me are a very high percentage of sub sales.  Only 3 credit sales in the last 20 when normally it is about 50/50

695
Isn't this most likely just an IT screw up over the new year holiday that someone will fix when they get back to work?  It wouldn't be a shock for them to mess this up, would it?
I would be extremely suprised if I get to keep 18%

696
I made a mistake and put how much I was down on last year per month instead of for the whole year and it was too late to rectify it by the time I realized.

General Stock Discussion / Re: December 2012 Stats Thread
« on: January 02, 2013, 08:13 »
My sales are not picking up at all at SS. 2dls yesterday and only 1 today. Not looking good.
Give it time.  Everybody had a bad day yesterday and today people are getting back into the swing of work.

698
^^^I didn't get any fake credits, I'm still below the 17% level but they've kept my 17%.  So I don't think that explains it.

Well, that's odd, but there doesn't seem to be any other reason that grandfathered people - and only them, apparently - are getting piles of credits. Maybe they haven't updated your stats yet.

Of course, the more interesting bit is why they might be doing it and what the implications are. One of the implications is that the RC levels can be left unrealistically high because people aren't screaming about losing their ranking.
Mine have gone up to 18% after going down to 17% last year.

For me, It is very different story. I started with DT recently. I submitted 21 images and all of them are pending approval since many days.  I am thinking of switching to FT. I do not know whether wait is worth.
Waiting a couple of weeks for approval isn't really a reason for not uploading to a site.   Some sites approve images in a matter of hours but sell  virtually nothing.  I'd much rather wait a week or two and have my images at a site that sells. Also you don't need to switch to FT, you can upload to both.

Did anyone else see a huge - completely out of line with December sales - jump in their 2012 RC totals?

Mine jumped about 8K since I last looked in early December and I now see they are 298 over the 35K threshold for 18% Don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth, but unless they were stuck for months and just caught up, I don't see how they can have gone up so much. Especially when Dls in 2012 were lower than in 2011 while the RC total was higher...

Anyone else see higher than expected numbers for 2012 RC totals?

ETA in talking with other contributors, it appears at least one other has seen a boost in RCs, but that was someone affected by the royalty rollover. That leads me to assume that their way of implementing the rollover was to apply some sort of artificial boost to some contributors' RC totals. Somehow I got "caught" in that and got my total boosted too. I wasn't scheduled to drop this year - that happened January 2012.
I'm seeing exactly the same as you.  My stats have also gone a couple of hundred over the threshold for 18%.  I don't remember the figures last time I looked but it seems to have gone up by 1000s.  If this is correct then I will actually go back up to 18% after going down last year.
