Symbiostock - General / Re: Required Registration - needs a Symbiostock plugin?« on: May 30, 2013, 13:01 »
Maybe we need some clever person to create a Symbiostock log-in plug that works in a similar way - registered with one site then can use those details if the email address is confirmed with the rest of the network

Anita - ask your host if you can access and change your php.ini and see what they say, might save you some struggling with your system?

Symbiostock - General / Re: Required Registration« on: May 30, 2013, 12:27 »
Daniel, I often have that sort of problem - had it here with MSG which is why I have the name I have!
Having said I would not use social networking logins I realise a lot of people would so if Glenn would share I would appreciate it as well 680
Symbiostock - General / Re: Required Registration« on: May 30, 2013, 12:16 »
Hi Daniel
Not sure what you found so hard, I have just registered on your site and it took me a few seconds - applied, went to my email and downloaded password, then entered password and logged in. I have to admit I am on the side of requiring registration, I want to be sure that the address they have given is one that will get the download email confirmation. Many people do, deliberatly or accidentally type the wrong address. I sell other stuff online and we get people typing in their wrong snail mail address - a couple in the US have put the wrong state then blamed us when it did not arrive! Hi Glenn I tried Wordpress - they need a wordpress.com account - our sites won't do. Google - says Stockimages.glennspecht.com would like to: View basic information about your account View your email address Stockimages.glennspecht.com and Google will use this information in accordance with their respective terms of service and privacy policies. More info View your name, public profile URL and photo. View your gender and date of birth. View your country, language and time zone View the email address associated with your account I didn't bother ![]() ![]() 681
Symbiostock - Development Area / Re: Arrangement of image page« on: May 30, 2013, 09:57 »
How about its arrangement, could it go below "similar images" so that they show up when the page opens?
682
Symbiostock - Development Area / Arrangement of image page« on: May 30, 2013, 09:49 »
From a client point of view I wonder if the image page has got too in the way of words and not enough pictures. It is unlikly they will scroll down to find the Similar images unless they know they are there.
Can keywords and categories either be hidden or made much smaller text (if anyone can give me the css for this I will do it, I have been trying) have option to put below similar images (I have mine full width and like them that way, putting on side also means scrolling to find them) Our photo information also takes up quite a lot of room 683
Symbiostock - General / Re: Quick question for those on Justhost (and possibly Bluehost) - at this moment« on: May 30, 2013, 09:30 »
I think there was a problem with the line down the road and everything went completely why some sites should have worked and others not I have no idea.

Symbiostock - General / Re: Quick question for those on Justhost (and possibly Bluehost) - at this moment« on: May 30, 2013, 08:04 »
I cannot get anything except for this site and google (with chrome and firefox) to load at the moment it seems - must be me then, just stopped working while I was in the middle of saving a category change

Symbiostock - General / Quick question for those on Justhost (and possibly Bluehost) - at this moment« on: May 30, 2013, 07:54 »
Justhost seems to be down completely and Bluehost not loading properly - is anyone else having problems ?
I was going to see if I could find anything on twitter about it but that seems to be down as well, and bbc and sky - maybe I had better turn radio on 686
Symbiostock - Technical Support / Re: How do you remove sites from the network« on: May 30, 2013, 06:33 »
Now you see what I am getting at
![]() I am currently editing css and find it safer not to do it on live site so am using my test site, after which I am going to deactivate Symbiostock, not just the theme 687

Hi Anita
If I understand what you are asking see if post 16 in this thread helps http://www.microstockgroup.com/symbiostock-technical-support/image-upload-issue/ That sorted my initial problem (host: Justhost) out and I mention where I found the file as well - although it does sound as if you know what you are doing so might have tried this already 689

Symbiostock - Technical Support / Re: How do you remove sites from the network« on: May 29, 2013, 15:46 »
I have been trying to stop my testing site appearing in network and directories and have just thought of a way to do it, reinstall v1.x.x

Symbiostock - Technical Support / How do you remove sites from the network« on: May 29, 2013, 15:07 »
I am curious as to how to remove a site from the network once it is included? There might come a time/reason when it is necessary and it would be interesting to know how
I ask because I cannot remove my testing site yet, it was deactivated as soon as I set the main one up with 2.x.x but it still shows up. Or is it sort of deactivated but takes a few days to disappear? 693

Sorry to BUG you again Leo
The new categories are in the wrong format eg: <li class="cat-item cat-item-4"><a href="http://stockimages.kerioak.com/image-type/abstract-backgrounds-textures-images-piccys/" title="Category for "Abstract | Backgrounds | Textures" related images.">Abstract | Backgrounds | Textures (<a href="http://stockimages.kerioak.com/image-type/abstract-backgrounds-textures-images-piccys/feed/" title="rss">rss) (95) <ul 695

I think appearing twice is great as it lets clients look slowly or zoom though images (original search and I assume directory) but now I appear three times which I assume is due to the promoted keywords ? Try searching animal on my site for example

Symbiostock / Re: Open Source - What it Means for Symbiostock« on: May 29, 2013, 03:12 »
Leo,
Thank you Whilst you might not feel you own Symbiostock, Symbiostock was your vision even if with help from others along the way it was your initiative that started it. Over the years every time an unfair change for submitters happened there has been talk of getting together and creating some kind of union - and when did two people ever agree on anything let along as diverse a group as stock submitters ! However, you looked at things from a totally different angle and have done something amazing about it In the two months since you released the first version it has grown from the tiniest seed into a organic network around the world and there are completely new names in the directory every day - is it only three or four days since that started! Whilst all the small starting group have played their part you are to me The Symbiostock Wizard If I had a glass of bubbly in my hand I would raise that to you, instead it is a mug of hot chocolate I hope you will continue to work with Symbiostock, I seem to remember you mentioning some plug-ins Now to grow the membership and client list ! 697
Symbiostock - SEO & Marketing / Re: keywords & categories across sites....« on: May 28, 2013, 16:39 »
No idea yet how they could be used in other ways unles some has the idea of collecting lots of thumbnail sized pictures, not sure I like this use where they appear separated from the home, and thus marked, sites

Symbiostock - Development Area / Re: Coming out of Beta. 1+, 2+ Bug Stomping Thread.« on: May 28, 2013, 15:57 »
Leo - My testing (tulip) site is supposed to be de-activated but is still showing up on the network results - see stockabily.com (although I have just sent a pm to Jean asking him to delete/change it)
Deleting sites from extended network does not make them disappear - they come back with next save. 699
Symbiostock - General / Re: Don't shoot me for this idea - please.« on: May 28, 2013, 15:33 »
Pleased to hear this thought was not shot down
![]() Having a "new to selling stock FAQ" seems a good idea and I have had the start of a thought for maybe advising on images. I would have no intention of saying it was or was not good enough to use, just whether I would use it and why/why not. The new to selling stock member could post the images on their own site (which they will need anyway if doing this) If we have a FAQ page somewhere - maybe on Symbiostock.com if Leo thinks it is a good idea, could we have a (hidden) list of email addresses of volunteers that one message would be sent to listing the urls of the images and the email address then whoever has the time and inclination could respond with a yes/no and brief reason why - (out of focus, fringing, needs model/property release, noisy etc etc), we would not be teaching, nor saying "because I don't like it". Or There could be a thread here with just FAQ's and a list of members currently willing to help (which will obviously change over time) and the potential new member could PM those willing to help with a list of the URL's and we can reply Or Same as a above but new member posts list in forum and whoever wishes to responds does so publicly so everyone sees what is said and others can learn from it I am sure there are lots more "or's" but it is late and I need to sleep Then of course there would be all the FAQ's - anyone want to start ? 700

Steve, Either copy the site address and paste that in then update
OR download (save) Symbiocard to your computer and then upload it from there |
