I am now a profitable businessguy thanks for the motivation :)

Flicker is a lot of fun for sure, never been there and won't go :P

Are you sure you're profitable? A few hundred downloads are covering the cost of a D90 and lenses? And software, PC/upgrades, training, books, props, etc.?

That's what I thought, there is people willing to pay to be called a photographer

Microstockgroup at his best! :) I won't continue this discussion once it is * ridiculous, have a nice summer!

ehehe seems like a lot of fun, what photos will those agencies have? just yours? :P

They will have photos from contributors who are profitable businesspeople.

I ran some numbers and I'm estimating the average hobbyist micro newbie earns less than 10 cents per hour for their efforts. Once this becomes common knowledge, hobbyists and other non serious business people will avoid micro and the existing ones will go back to Flickr where you don't make much less and it's more fun.

I am now a profitable businessguy thanks for the motivation :)

So what's killing the market? Subs, cheap competition or buyers who aren't willing to pay micro prices for high quality images? Makes me wonder...

I think an underlying message of what's killing the market is clear in what hqimages said. It's us, the contributors. We do it to ourselves.

Buyers are going to cheaper sites. Contributors make less at cheaper sites. Contributors continue to support cheaper sites.

When a large enough percentage of unprofitable contributors give up, more sites will close, supply will drop, and demand will drive prices back up to a level that is sustainable for contrubutors to justify investing time.

Looks like we're headed downward. Enjoy the ride.

once there must be a lot of microstockers that have very nice income and have another job..

6787
what means amateur and pro?  is there a earnings minimum, or full time is pro? or its our feeling??

i'm sure they're approving in sequence by the 'guage' and sharpshot's certainly higher than ours.

i'm not as excited as you all since i joined StockXpert past its glory days and the current hemera collection is doing a lot better on thinkstock than it did on StockXpert. freshstock may offer higher commissions but it better have a slew of buyers too.

I got a lot of photos at Hemera but they aren't bringing as much sales as from partner program (and a lot less files)

They are approving as well, or I wouldn't be in.  I don't know if they are doing it by the application date, I applied a few minutes after the first post about them in this forum.

maybe 5 minutes after you :)

2 months doesn't seem long, remember what they said earlier in this thread:-

"We would like to ask for your patience as we sort through all the applications. It might take a while because we would like to grow our customer and contributor base side by side, and we might not be able to let everyone in immediately."

When I read that, I expected it would take a long time for them to go through all the applications.

I just don't get why not approving once they are actually rejecting applications.. don't understand the policy.. don't want some contributors and others just want to leave on pending... :P

Reviews have been quick for me, just like they used to be with StockXpert and only a few rejections.  Nothing like crestock.  I still think some old StockXpert buyers will use them instead of the site that closed StockXpert down.  I will give them some time to get the site going, they said they were going to build it up slowly, so I don't understand why people are surprised when they are doing that.

Don't you think that 2 months aren't enough, at least to reject???

I guess they are happy with the 500k :)

You could say that, at least it seems that they are not in a hurry expanding the portfolio by reviewing applications and letting in new contributors :)

I guess we are looking into a Crestock right?

Stockfresh have started more than two months ago and must have like TONS of applications to review.. why is that? as we read in this forum they are rejecting... why so long to get in?? something must be wrong there..

imagine this: I am going to search an image of a beach on Alamy. I find this one yours. I may like it, but before buying it I go check in microstock if there is something better there and imagine what? I may found your same image! I will say to myself: this guy is a cheater (not to say worse). So, obviously I will not license your image in Alamy and will put your name in my 'black list'.
One news for those who think is 'fair' to send the same images in Alamy and microstock: who buy images today is perfectly aware of microstock and will check there before commit to licensing an image in Alamy. I found many times images better in micro than in Alamy and changed my mind. Sometimes, on the contrary, found images that were ONLY available in Alamy. In this cases the image was licensed from there.
To sum it up. You CAN surely submit RF images to micro and Alamy (there is no contract clause against it, in fact), but you are not doing any good to yourself.
You would be better sending there different images. Buyers aren't silly and they DO ready forums and blogs... they know that many of microstockers send now all or part of their portfolios in Alamy and you just told them in a public forum, what you are doing!

how about placing your work in the cheapest agency and stay just in that one so you arent going to cheat buyers... COME ON!

But how many arent at Alamy?? I am not talking about the big ones, everybody has pictures there, why not me?
