Congrats! :) Sorry for asking, but if it's not a secret, did you use application called "Universe" to draw this galaxy?

Yes, it was $500. :) It was Istock's Birthday, so Istock made a huge party at Twitter. They were announcing a new task every hour, and people had to solve those tasks. In the end of every hour Istock was giving away one of the prizes by random choosing between users who solved the task for that hour. Tasks were of course simple. So, It wasn't really something that I earned by hard working. It was pure luck. But anyway, this is the first time ever that I got a prize in some kind of lottery. :)

I shoot in RAW, and work in 8 bit. Tho it's true that it's better to work in 16 bit and to convert it to 8bits in the end, I doubt it's so important. Also, it could happen than when you work in 16 bit and convert it in the end to 8 bit some color clipping ocures.

Regarding audio, I can clearly hear the difference between 32 and 16 bit audio, but only when it's played one after another. When you don't have something to compare to it's very hard, or to say if it's 16 or 32 bit sound.
Someone also asked if it's necessary to save files at maximum quality (level 12) in PS, or it could be done at level 10. I was comparing these two, and I could see very small differences at 400%, but again, only because I had two files saved at different levels to compare. Significant difference was in file size.
If I remember well, Mantonino said he is saving his files at level 10 always.

Thank you all! I didn't hear so many nice words in a long time :) It's a good feeling. We should give more often compliments to each other. Maybe we would fight less then and everyone would feel better :)
Kisses for all of you!

Adobe Stock / Re: Is FT ramming us from Behind ?????
« on: April 07, 2010, 17:00 »
I've always wondered whether there is a possibility that the agencies do not show all the sales of our pictures?

It seems that we will in future need to have some "framework" for legal representation...

Until then, we need to know that We are guilty, because we do not have the courage to migrate out portfolios at fair Agencies...

I started similar thread long ago and everyone attacked me because I even thought that agencies can hide sales from us. Of course it's possible and it's very easy to do. I live in a country where almost every company has double books in the end of a month. One book for them selves and another one for the tax service. But lets hope agencies don't do this....

123RF / Re: 123RF Image Enlargement Services & Your Earnings
« on: April 07, 2010, 13:46 »
Hi Alex,
I think this is not bad at all, because if someone wants enlarged and retouched image and wants to pay for it, it's better for us all to get some money from it than to get nothing if the client goes to someone else to tho the same job. Probably many clients are not graphic designers who are able to do this job for them selves, so they pay other graphic designers to retouch images they bought on 123RF. In that case, 123RF made a pretty good deal. 123RF is providing new clients to X company that does retouching, and it's normal that X company gets the biggest piece of money. X company basically gives a discount to 123RF for providing new clients, and 123RF is sharing that smaller piece with us, giving us few percents more.
Anyone who thinks we are in worse position than company X should maybe open an Y company that will do the same job as Company X
I don't say I am satisfied with less and less money we make on microstock, but I'm afraid that we will earn even less in future. Starting from macrostock, through microstock, and subscriptions finally I see only the trend of decreasing earnings.

Alex, you should maybe provide an "opt out" button for those who don't want to be part of this service.

Computer Hardware / Re: Using a Laptop for Image Processing?
« on: April 04, 2010, 13:25 »
The review says this: "The horizontal viewing angle on this thing is insane.  It's practically 180 degrees, although it is kind of hard to see anything on the screen at that point.  The vertical angle is not quite as good.  It has about a 15 degree sweet spot with the picture losing brightness and inverting white and black too far beyond that."

I have to be honest I was not that impressed. I guess It's not my type of a gadget. I would rather buy a laptop for the same money. At least laptop can burn DVD's.
Regarding eBooks, I think Kindle is perfect. Battery lasts several days, the screen looks like a paper (it doesn't radiate the light, it reflects it, so you can read all day long), it has wifi, it has a dictionary and free Internet provided by Amazon in more than 100 countries.

I asked the same question some of my friends, and what I learned is there is almost no good laptop screen when we talk about PC laptops. But they said only good things about Macbook Pro laptops. Later I found similar info in internet. Everyone says Macbook pro family is great for photo editing...
