Microstock News / Re: Adobe Lightroom 1.0

Wonder how long my free beta version will last.  :-\

until the 28th of this month i believe.

OK thanks.
I hope when I switch from the beta version to the trial I don't have to re-import all my files and sort them all again.

Dreamstime.com / Re: one week til you should submit for a prize
« on: February 19, 2007, 12:09 »
no no, 2500 images have to be submitted to dreamstime before the time is 'ripe' to win the prize. :)

I only have 100 images saved up.  That is the max i can submit in a day so there is no point in having more.

Ah right. I have like 16 pending now, I'm not really doing anything special to try and win. Submitting 1-4 a day per usual.

yep,on the 22nd or so.  But submitting is going to happen today.  2500 files left to go.

2,500???? You been saving up for some time now huh.

I was meaning this image.  Is it CG?  Looks pretty real to me  :D

Oh ya got me there. In order to meet the 4megapixel requirement on Shutterstock I think it would be too noisy. I doubt I'm going to submit any photos in this application, only illustrations.

EDIT: Yea I just looked at the file up close. It is a bit noisy at 2 megapixels. My camera is just a little point and shoot and I don't have much experience with photography.

Well I have made some new illustrations that I will most likely submit. I'm pretty confident that I'll get accepted this time.  ;D

General Stock Discussion / Re: The Future Big 5
« on: February 18, 2007, 09:32 »
I think Dreamstime and Shutterstock will be the two big rivals a year from now. I just can't see Istockphoto being so popular much longer. It's a pain to upload, the commission is poor, and the prices are quite a bit higher than Dreamstime and Shutterstock. If Istockphoto was a starting out site today with their current prices and commissions I bet it would be a flop.

StockXpert.com / Views
« on: February 18, 2007, 09:28 »
Am I the only one that noticed awkward patterns in the amount of views for your submissions?
Some days every photo will get like five views, but others they won't get any. Yesterday for example, I had 3 photos above 10 views (just started there about a week ago), today I have 25.
It just seems fishy. Almost as if they are giving you views to think their site is active. (I have only had 1 sale out of about 600 views total)

StockXpert.com / Re: New rejection reasons
« on: February 18, 2007, 09:24 »
They have not been too picky on what I submit. Not as picky as Dreamstime thats for sure. Occasionally I will resubmit a photo/illustration they decline because I thought it was good enough and the 2nd time some are accepted.
Most of my submissions are illustrations so noise is never an issue.
I wish StockXpert had more of a customer base because they are my favorite site to upload to. (Mainly because review times are normally like 1-3 hours!)

General Stock Discussion / The Future Big 5
« on: February 17, 2007, 22:08 »
Lets hear what everyones future big 5 predictions are in terms of profitability. Lets say 1 year from now.

1. Shutterstock
2. Dreamstime
3. Istockphoto
4. StockXpert
5. Fotolia
--- And I will add a couple more for the heck of it.
6. Lucky Oliver
7. Bigstockphoto

Dreamstime.com / Re: DT Percentage of Acceptance
« on: February 17, 2007, 17:23 »
52.5%
Only been there for a month so I'm starting to learn what they accept and decline now.  ;)
It's a bit awkward though. They are for sure the most stingy when accepting files (out of DT, FT, StockXpert, and BigStock) but then again they have accepted files of mine that every other site has declined. So I just submit for . of it who knows.  :-\

Well I have signed up on Lucky Oliver. I will upload 20 or so and judge by how they do if I should upload the rest.

Chicago, Illinois (USA)
Huge business city. If you want good business related photographs of skyscrapers, architecture, and people. This is the place to go.

Yea, it's not in Europe its just the city I want to go to the most so I figured I would pass it on to you.

Oops forgot to mention Istock.
I registered on Canstock but their traffic was pretty low so I didn't upload anything.
I'll look into LO, it seems like a lot of people go there but they don't have much traffic either.

New Sites - General / So which ones are worth the time?
« on: February 17, 2007, 09:19 »
I am currently on Fotolia, Dreamstime, StockXpert, 123RF, Bigstockphoto, and hopefully Shutterstock when I can apply again. What other ones are really worth the time? I only have about 60-70 photos and illustrations that I would submit since I have only been doing this for roughly a month.

I cannot submit on Istock because I am not 18 (I'm 17)

743
Hi!

Shutterstock doesn't allow photographers <18 either. There was a thread in their forums recently about that.

All the best,
Michael

Well they let me sign up and I already applied once but got declined. I didn't have to show them my ID, just had to put in a credit card to verify myself. Since I don't have one I put in my dads credit card number. (My parents don't have any problems with me doing this).

Daneel I am currently on Fotolia, Dreamstime, StockXpert, 123RF and Bigstockphoto. I will be able to reapply for Shutterstock in roughly 3 days.

744
Since I am only 17 I can't submit photos to Istock. It's a big loss because I always read thats where the best money is made at. Meh, 1 year to go.

745
None of the sky/water/ocean submissions on there are taken from my camera. They are computer generated and have no noise.
Thanks for the 5.

746
Well my first applicatiom was rejected with good reason. I rushed it and sent in a bunch of junk.
Now my month wait is about up, and I have an idea of what I'm going to submit but not sure so figured it wouldn't hurt to ask here.

I currently have 55 images online at Fotolia. Quite a few of them are crap but suprisingly some of the ones I see as horrible have actually sold. Most of my stuff is computer generated because my camera is only 5 megapixels.
Here is a link to my gallery, if you could pick out the 10 you think I should submit it'd be great.
