General Stock Discussion / Re: The end is nigh. What will you do?
« on: November 23, 2012, 06:43 »
I believe the microstock industry will become increasingly inaccessible to amateurs ... it's only a matter of time. Too many images are added every day on the agencies collections.... something must be done in the future and this is the only way...

This I agree with 1000%!  its to weed out the amateurs and a hell of a lot of generic garbage. This has got to be done just to get a clear overview of this mess. Some of them have already started with strignent reviewing, etc.

They slso have to realize that in the search, the heart of the agency, they simply have to include the commercial sellers, the bread and butter stuff that ensures revenue. The days when they could just sit and wait for great portfolios are over.
As one CEO of an agency said to me on the phone, 99 new ports of 100, are just pure rubbish.

well mine's good so yours must be rubbish  ;)

Let's see ... they want premium portflios to pay less and less money, selling less and less quantity ????

Agencies also have a big problem ... good photos cost money, and if we start to see that they don't sell at good prices or sell many times at small prices ... we leave, or we start to distribute in other market's, or we just photograph for fun (nice tought).

Getty have now a secondary security password feature for financial information.

This extra security feature is excellent,  and a must have in all micro sites.
Some of us want to provide our primary Portal account to someone else (for example, to upload submissions) but with a secondary password limit access to your financial data.

I know that most of micro sites managers read this forum ... please consider building this feature on your site.

Yes they have!  but the micro sites are not constructed the same way as Getty images, at Getty, finances, etc, is on another face.

I'm not sure what secondary you're talking about - I just logged into the upload portal and the new royalty section there doesn't require any password extra.

I don't see an issue with splitting out the financials from the rest of the "work" - it's a good idea if you have people working for ya.

You have to activate the second password level ... ya, the idea is having other person managing some work of the upload process

sljoke: The article don't explain the potential of this tool.

Yes it's just an API, but the Connect service is going to be negotiated in may different ways ...

For example: a journal that uses/link a image for an article and pay per view of the article/photo ... or a  tshirt site that shows lots of photos in his tshirt and only pay if the client buy the photo.

For me looks like a different licence model where every site as to pay to show/use a photo.

Getty is presenting his Connect service, a new technology based in the cloud technology that will give costumer a bunch of new ways to explore image and video content, being charge in new ways like pay-per-view.

See more here: http://portal.sliderocket.com/avwlo/connect-customer-video

It looks to me that another big change is comming to the stock market.

New Sites - General / Re: Pocketstock...???
« on: June 08, 2012, 06:23 »
I have more than 7000 images.

FTP is ok for me, but in new agencies i don't want to waste any more time.

Questions (i think we all have):
1) Do you have subscriptions? do you plan to have?
2) If i send you 7000 images with MR connect to the files in an Excel spreadsheet, do you take care of all the process?
3) If i want to quit selling, how much time must my images have to wait?

Thanks.
