123RF / Re: got $3.00 for a EEL sale? really?
« on: March 15, 2013, 07:41 »
I have just got $0.906 for a PEL , which is 50 credits. Have sent of an email to much sure it is correct.

Any one else got one this low lately?

 :(

@uvox - Our team has investigated your account and your email which came in approximately 5 hours ago. We have found that there are no PEL downloads on your account - both on your earnings page as well as on our database tables. Our Submission Email team member has replied to your email with even more conclusive details.

Thank you for reaching out.

Alex.

I received my reply back. I didn't get a PEL. It was a XXLMH. The confusion was that on viewing my downloads on my android tablet the column formatting was wrong making it look like it was a sale in the  PEL column. It was hard to notice as the formatting is fine for the beginning and end of the columns but goes funny in the middle. If you look at the same page on a computer it is OK.  123RF are getting their software people to change the page.  The issue also arose on a different tablet. No PEL , maybe next time.

Pixmac / Re: Pixmac merges with Pond5
« on: March 07, 2013, 12:29 »
I have just registered with Pond. I am not on Pixmac. I want to start uploading some content on these sites. Out of the two which has the easiest/quickest upload method.

I've never uploaded to Pond5, so I can't speak to that, but the upload process at Pixmac is easy - no categories necessary, and a decent batch function to assign releases and submit.  Also, reviews have, so far, been within a few days.

Cheers. :)

Did some yesterday but they never showed up. Went back into Filezillza and deleted them from server. I then reloaded and they came up very quickly.

Newbie Discussion / UK Camera Insurance - Who do you use?
« on: February 03, 2013, 11:10 »
Went to renew my home insurance  and they now won't insure my camera equipment like last year.  I was wondering what insurance,  people use in the UK. This is my second job and I have just started microstock.  Home insurance companies don't seem to allow camera protection, if you earn any money from it as they class you as a business. I have been researching the dedicated insurers but do not know much about them.

I have just seen this on IS forum. Will help searching if your image has been used.

Posted By sjlocke:
I've downloaded all 6923 images available on Google, and should have a page tomorrow, possibly with all the images and exif.

In the meantime, here is a text list so you can search in your browser and see if you find yourself: http://seanlockephotography.com/data.html

Just a thought. The data assumes that Google is used as the search engine. Has there been a decline in Google? Or worse do they have a greater market share.

Got my first 8c on 30/12.

I won't spend it all  in one go!

As a newbie myself, I find FT are the hardest to get my photos on. Many others seem to say the same.

Please, don't wait. Submit your photos, take the plunge. The worst that can happen is you have to wait a month to reapply.  Its a learning curve. Learn from the rejections, don't take them to heart. I reckon you will get accepted at IS.

Your pictures are simple, but sites like that.

Good luck.

Maybe they will do a 'Starbucks' and realise how important their contributors are and start to listen to them, but more importantly change.

IS are definitely rattled by what they are hearing on the forums, but are not willing to apologise or accept any blame. I am sure it is all about the bottom line. It always is.

I was wondering how long it took you to get on Shutterstock. Last three times I have been unsuccessful.

1. 5 Accepted.
2. 4 Accepted, resubmitted original 5 accepted plus 5 new. Only 3 of 5 originals  accepted plus 1 new.
3. 3 Accepted, resubmitted 4 that passed last time plus 6 new. only 1 from last time accepted plus 2 new.

Overall have had 9 files approved but never at the same time. 1 file passed all 3 submissions. Seem to fail for composition. The approval seems very subjective. Hope to have more luck next time.

Thanks. That explains a lot.

I have a high FT failure rate (80%). It seems to be the way it is. I feel they have stricter rules and you need to understand the style of photos they want. I have considered leaving them but as a relative newcomer I will give it some time to adjust to their style.

Alamy.com / Alamy Rejections
« on: November 21, 2012, 11:16 »
Interestingly after the new price announcement, I have had 3 batches and 61 photos rejected. Different themes. My acceptance rate was excellent (95%+) and some (and all) of the photos have been accepted on various other sites. Coincidence! Has this happened to others? A change in direction?

The world has gone mad! They must have a great accounts dept.

Just searched the forum as I am also having this added to free section problem. Just noticed the change to my defaults. Thanks for the posts. I thought I was doing something wrong.
