Image Sleuth / Re: Fiverr, the another gray market
« on: March 16, 2017, 04:19 »
Not really gray, more black. People on Fiverr have been pulling this s*it for years and Fiverr doesn't care.

yes, fiverr doesn't care, its on their forum and they are aware of it and I am sure shutterstock too know of it.

I have around 5000 image to upload.
After upload i am forced to click on each image title.
I have to click the title and i have to click "submit".
Takes about 10 seconds for 1 image.
Total 13 hours only click "submit" "submit" "submit" "submit" "submit"
No way  ::)

yes, they have a upload limit and it is really pain for people with good quantity portfolio, they should remove it.

Here is the link to the Forbes article! It's the matchbox one a bit down the page...

I've seen my photos in many places online already but this was the first publication I recognized. Thanks for all your encouragement! It was a good day...

You never know what can sell :)
How did you find the link?

Why do SS provide a search option that is useless?, why should buyers have to work out search strategies to find what they want? They are meant to be leaders of the industry surely its not too much to ask that they provide a search that delivers quality, relevant new images?

I think, shutterstock should work on a contributor ranking system and display the images as per the quality of work.

Why don't search on page 20 or 1000 of popular ones?

You are correct at your point, this is what I landed at last.
But are we bound to follow the popular list only? A popular image was also a new someday, so people download the new and made it popular.

And that's not something you will keep on telling to every buyer. We have got search options so we'll use it.

« on: March 02, 2017, 03:57 »
One of my client today asked me to select few images from shutterstock, he gave me the topic but when I started to search, I found maximum images are just crap.
I searched over 150 newest pages and nearly 80% of the content is useless. There are few users who are uploading thousands of similar style images just covering the whole search making it difficult to find the good content.

Edit: I must say 90% item is useless.. still working to get the good collection

What was the search term? I guess it was too specific, no?
I can't understand what this another collective moaning is about. Why look for crap specifically and then complain it smells?

Love https://www.shutterstock.com/search?search_source=base_search_form&language=ru&searchterm=love&image_type=all
Computer https://www.shutterstock.com/search?searchterm=computer&search_source=base_search_form&language=ru&page=1&sort=popular&image_type=all&safe=true
Car https://www.shutterstock.com/search?searchterm=car&search_source=base_search_form&language=ru&page=1&sort=popular&image_type=all&safe=true
Man https://www.shutterstock.com/search?searchterm=man&search_source=base_search_form&language=ru&page=1&sort=popular&image_type=all&safe=true
House https://www.shutterstock.com/search?searchterm=house&search_source=base_search_form&language=ru&page=1&sort=popular&image_type=all&safe=true
Pool https://www.shutterstock.com/search?searchterm=pool&search_source=base_search_form&language=ru&page=1&sort=popular&image_type=all&safe=true

I understand.. client asked for a brochure with few other stationary items which was supposed to go well with their branding with a creative feel in terms of colors and design.
I could have searched for popular ones, but I planned to look what's new is coming and landed no-where, I have now forwarded a lightbox from the popular side.

Thats huge amount of royalty paid out, but it also says that its 28% of total so the question is where is the rest 72% being used?

General Stock Discussion / Etsy experience and the listing fees
« on: February 27, 2017, 03:45 »
Is there anyone who upload on etsy and can share experience with sales, earnings etc.
I was browsing their website and they not only have listing fees for every item but also many other fees.

I have never been with them.
But there is something I don't understand: everyone says they are evil and nobody should work with them.
But then 8 threads out of 10 here (and the more popular ones) regard istock, suggesting that almost everyone uploads there

when you say "everyone" it doesn't mean all contributors. You should say many as this forum itself have 37552 members as of now with 100s of active users which only see the posts and don't reply to it.

qHero and DeepMeta are actually independently developed to make the upload process easier, they are not developed by IS.
While using DeepMeta, the only thing that really slows me down is the useless IS curated dictionary or whatever they call it. I can't login in DeepMeta3 so I can't comment if it's any easier than it used to be, but by jusdging by the current ESP upload IS is still using that.

The old Deepmeta was awesome and a joy to use, but 3.x had to comply with this new ESP thing and has made everything ten times more complicated than it needs to be.

I've stopped uploading so I don't really care anymore.

I have also put everything on hold unless a clearer picture is available.
I have already sent email to them and not expecting the reply soon as this is what I got in auto-reply.

"We are dealing with a high volume of queries at the moment, so appreciate your patience. Tickets are prioritized according to urgency and we will respond as soon as possible. "

I don't understand why is getty and iStock making is too complicated.
Why don't they keep it simple?

You have deepmeta and qHero to upload? Why? Why cannot be there an easy method to upload like all other agencies doing like shutterstock, fotolia etc. Why can't there be simple FTP or browser upload.
The keyword selection, choosing categories, I find it more time consuming than all other channels. The interface, why making it too complicated to understand.

ESP, why can't they keep it easy to understand, why adding complications.
keep it simple.. JUST KEEP IT SIMPLE

The more complicated they do, the better they can scrеw you ...

This is what they are doing now. Such big companies, I think should look on increasing sales, doing marketing and making contributor happy... not in just spending huge amount of money in developing same tools and presenting it in a new plate.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Shutterstock sales are bad.
« on: February 17, 2017, 07:14 »
The new earnings page is horrible to visualize sales.
Very inefficient as you have to click and scroll multiple times just to see what have you sold each day.
And not listed in order of upload, so you can't easily see which new files are selling.

+1, there is nothing so excitement of the new page. I wish they revert back to the original.

Spot on! in Europe its the reverse. Could also be losing droves of buyers. Seriously though with 120 million files who wants to sit there looking for a picture.

Uploading new files is also a complete waste. Uploaded 20 studio concepts involving people and everything they were all accepted within hours but they are nowhere to be seen just gone. That was a week back.
Until they have completely changed that was my last upload. No more.

Sadly with their silly search experiments they've managed to  annihilate Bigstock as well.

Why don't you quit, if the situation looks too bad to you?
1 less competitor.

I think I worked out who this is.

I'm sorry if you've taken offence at some of the comments, but don't you have a country to run?

Do you really think he would go anonymous? :)
