Nope.  Pointless.

;D Possibly, but then the vast majority of threads here and on site fora are pointless and very repetitive if viewed objectively - maybe 10 themes in total???  I actually agree that one rate for all is the correct way to go and am not making any historical moral judgement about any site - just pointing out that RCs are essentially about port size (anyone with < 1000 images keep 50% on 123?).  The DT arrangement is the only one where "size doesn't matter"  ;)

752
Indeed that's true.  The mathematical point remains true though - to have any hope of advancing you need 1000s of images.  A system that actually rewards quality would be based on DLs per image within a timeframe or acceptance ratio or both.

753
RC systems reward sales. They aren't at all bad in principle, IStock's is terrible because of the pathetic compensation levels and and unreachable goals. Just thinking about it is making my blood boil!

All other things being equal (and they frequently aren't), bigger port = bigger sales.  DT is the only site that actually rewards quality (in stock terms) with their levels system.  However, even the systems used by SS and FT will allow contributers to advance over time.  Granted the guy with 100 files can make a 1000 sales in a given period and the guy with a 1000 files might only make 100, but those are the exceptions.  Many, many contributers with less than 1000 images may perform as well or better than their colleagues on a per image basis but have zero chance of advancing with the RC system.

Can't argue with that

Can't see how you can fail on those numbers - check this out:

Aimed at IS but could get you pre-approved and no upload limits on FT or SS

Resources are limited.

The American dream is false.
You can only get rich if 10 other people get poor.
Unions made the basis for the Scandinavian wellfare model, which is very successfull. Read the Economist.

It all has to do with realizing that being rich can only come at an expense.
Either natures expence, when you set up a sawmill in a virgin forest or if you abuse a population of miners.
Riches comes from taking wealth from someone else, by exploiting other peoples work or opportunities or nature.

Unions are one of the means that can distribute riches more equally and together with envioronmental laws they can actually help riches being distributed to many hands instead of a few hands that hold the power.
Societies thrive when their people are educated, healthy and productive.

Applauding here.  Great post!  Wish more people could wrap their brains around this concept.

Uploaded images by FTP, imported but none shown in History - just gone  :o. Also no results displayed for earnings.  Maybe they are busy changing it to 60%  ;D

Haven't produced anything new for a while but did some recently and waiting on reviews - was surprised that here was nothing showing in the 123 history until I remembered I hadn't put them there  :o

I had a look for some of my stuff out of curiousity.  I noticed lots of watermaked images from top 4 with 400px resolution on long side.  BUT, there are tons from 123 @ 1200px which is another reason to dump them.

"Errr, the cat is leaving the room"

I have to agree with Reef, it was an excellent example of gentle humour that absolutely nailed it - in fact, probably even flattering (as Oscar Wilde said, "The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.")

Didn't one of the Popes "castrate" a bunch of statues for similar reasons?
Can see your name did not come up as one of the people being joked about.  ;)

That's just cos I'm too boring - the "victims" are the colourful characters  ;D

OK on the englishman, scotsman, irishman vein...

It's 2012 and it's the Olympics in London .

A Scotsman, an Englishman and an Irishman want to get in, but they haven't got tickets.

The Scotsman picks up a manhole cover, tucks it under his arm and walks to the gate.
"McTavish, Scotland," he says, "Discus" and in he walks.

The Englishman picks up a length of scaffolding and slings it over his shoulder.
"Waddington-Smythe, England " he says, "Pole vault" and in he walks.

The Irishman looks around and picks up a roll of barbed wire and tucks it under his arm. "O'Malley, Ireland " he says, "Fencing."

768
I just had a look at your IS port - I'm assuming there can't be much technically wrong if accepted there and you have a lot of stronger candidates than those posted here - I'm not much of a judge but perhaps the one of the medical equipment, the guitar making, the foot on the tack, shoe shine, perhaps one of the dogs, the split canyon, the underground lake....

A Lawyer's Affair.  For three years, the young attorney had been taking his brief vacations at this country inn. The last time he'd finally managed an affair with the innkeeper's daughter. Looking forward to an exciting few days, he dragged his suitcase up the stairs of the inn, then stopped short. There sat his lover with an infant on her lap! "Helen, why didn't you write when you learned you were pregnant?" he cried. "I would have rushed up here, we could have gotten married, and the baby would have my name!" "Well," she said, "when my folks found out about my condition, we sat up all night talkin' and talkin' and decided it would be better to have a *insult removed* in the family than a lawyer."

Supposedly From a book called "Disorder in the Court".   Things people actually said in court, word for word, taken down and now published by court reporters - who had the torment of staying calm while these exchanges were actually taking place:

Q: What is your date of birth?   A: July fifteenth.   Q: What year?   A: Every year.

Q: What gear were you in at the moment of the impact?   A: Gucci sweats and Reeboks.

Q: This myasthenia gravis, does it affect your memory at all?   A: Yes.   Q: And in what ways does it affect your memory?   A: I forget.  Q: You forget. Can you give us an example of something that you've forgotten?

Q: How old is your son, the one living with you.A: Thirty-eight or thirty-five, I can't remember which.   Q: How long has he lived with you?   A: Forty-five years.

Q: What was the first thing your husband said to you when he woke that morning?   A: He said, "Where am I, Cathy?"   Q: And why did that upset you?   A: My name is Susan.

Q: And where was the location of the accident?   A: Approximately milepost 499.   Q: And where is milepost 499?   A: Probably between milepost 498 and 500.

Q: Sir, what is your IQ?   A: Well, I can see pretty well, I think.

Q: Did you blow your horn or anything?   A: After the accident?  Q: Before the accident.   A: Sure, I played for ten years. I even went to school for it.

Q: Do you know if your daughter has ever been involved in voodoo or the occult?   A: We both do.  Q: Voodoo?   A: We do.  Q: You do?  A: Yes, voodoo.

Q: Trooper, when you stopped the defendant, were your red and blue lights flashing?   A: Yes.   Q: Did the defendant say anything when she got out of her car? A: Yes, sir.   Q: What did she say?   A: What disco am I at?

Q: Now doctor, isn't it true that when a person dies in his sleep, he doesn't know about it until the next morning?

Q: The youngest son, the twenty-year old, how old is he?

Q: Were you present when your picture was taken?

Q: So the date of conception (of the baby) was August 8th?   A: Yes.   Q: And what were you doing at that time?

Q: She had three children, right?   A: Yes.   Q: How many were boys?   A: None.   Q: Were there any girls?

Q: You say the stairs went down to the basement?   A: Yes.   Q: And these stairs, did they go up also?

Q: How was your first marriage terminated?   A: By death.   Q: And by whose death was it terminated?

Q: Can you describe the individual?   A: He was about medium height and had a beard.   Q: Was this a male, or a female?

Q: Is your appearance here this morning pursuant to a deposition notice which I sent to your attorney?   A: No, this is how I dress when I go to work.

Q: Doctor, how many autopsies have you performed on dead people?   A: All my autopsies are performed on dead people.

Q: All your responses must be oral, OK? What school did you go to?   A: Oral.

Q: Do you recall the time that you examined the body?   A: The autopsy started around 8:30 p.m.   Q: And Mr. Dennington was dead at the time?   A: No, he was sitting on the table wondering why I was doing an autopsy.

Q: Are you qualified to give a urine sample?

Q: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?   A: No.   Q: Did you check for blood pressure?   A: No.   Q: Did you check for breathing?   A: No.   Q: So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?   A: No.   Q: How can you be so sure, Doctor?   A: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.   Q: But could the patient have still been alive nevertheless?   A: Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law somewhere.

General Stock Discussion / Re: 3D renders

Thanks for the links. I do use GnomonWorkshop a lot for tutorials. I'm happy to have had some work accepted on IS, at least it means I can make the grade occasionally. I've even sold a few. Problem is that for those that are rejected I'm not really seeing what I'm doing wrong, so a bit frustrated.

My acceptance ratio on IS is just under 40% but would be < 10% if I wasn't very picky about submissions - in contrast average acceptance is 93% across SS, DT, FT & 123 so well worth checking out IS rejections for submission to the others.

I guess it depends on how much they actually bring in every month and whether it would make any difference in terms of bread on the table.  Sales volumes are not that bad but prices are too low and it was just about worthwhile uploading @ 50% commission.  I'd reconsider if subs at least went to the previous flat rate for everyone but can't see that happening.
