Veer / Re: Losing my enthusiasm for Veer

They are simply not ready to handle this volume of submissions. They should transfer most of SV stuff when they could so they could operate with less reviewers. Now everybody who got rejected is trying to upload all that images anyway. It looks like there is anybody who can think forward in their management :-)

Adobe Stock / Blue dot
« on: August 11, 2009, 14:29 »
Some of my pictures awaiting validation got blue dot icon which according to legend is free collection. What is going on, they put them in free collection without my permission? I deleted all model released photos immediately when I noticed this.

my favorite OR beaches are the southern ones - bandon, cape arago, et al up tp coosd bay.  the rest of the coast is more than worthwhile too.  eastern or - john day river & fossil canyons and desert, tumalo falls near bend, crater lake

for WA, mt st helens, rainier, n cascades highway [yu can't really see much of the park w/o backpacking, though cascade pass trail, is crowded but a good scenic dayhike.

in seattle, the hiram chit locks have salmon climbing the fish ladders, with  the fremont troll nearby.  the asian art museum in volunterr park also has great views of the city - take the ferry as a walkon for the best views of the seattle waterfront & skyline

I am going along the coast in Oregon so I should see most of these things. I was in Seattle and my friend guided me that time so I we revisit many places. Cascades are too far notrh for this trip. I have been in Rainier and St Helens and I am planing to revisit now.

My personal suggestions:

Mount Saint Helens (WA)
Pike Place Market (Seattle)
There's Fort Vancouver - but that's about it for here in Vancouver, WA.
Tillamook Cheese Factory (Oregon Coast - be sure and grab some cheese curds)
Devils Punch Bowl (Oregon Coast south of the Tillamook Cheese factory)
Multnomah Falls (Oregon - Columbia Gorge)
OMSI - (Portland, OR)

Thats all I can think of without more coffee.

Never been in northern Oregon so I am adding these things to my list.

Heading out to my home turf are you.

There is so much to do and see out here. You might want to check out Port Townsend, The Dungeness Spit area, Lake Crescent, The Hoh Rainforest. There are lots of other great places to check out too. Dont forget your rain gear.

I was in Olympic area once. I want to revisit Lake Crescent and rainforest for sure. I am not sure how I got there last time so Port Townsend and Dungeness Spit may be new things.

782
Depends on what you want to shoot, but there is A LOT of nature up here.

Some places I highly suggest
1. Redwood National Park in CA
2. Oregon Dunes National Monument
3. Crater Lake National Park
4. Cape Perpetua area near Yachats
5. Cannon Beach
6. Portland Rose and Japanese Gardens

Other than that there's a lot of other good opportunities.  Portland is an interesting city with unique architecture and a certain 'personality'

I live in OR so that's what I Know the most about but as far as Washington goes I highly recomend the Olympic Peninsula or North Cascades National Park.

Have a good trip, It's beautiful up here!  Look forward to seeing some pictures.

I am going to drive along Oregon Coast. I am skipping everything in California (been there). I also visited Crater Lake many times. I was in both parks in Washington. This time might have time only for Olympic.

I am excited to hit the road. I am excited cause has been long since I got vacations. I am excited cause it first trip for my 1yr old daughter. Last but not least no uploading, keywording for couple days :-)

Any suggestion for places to visit in Oregon and Washinton?

784
Vacations?

785
I use MediaCoder or MPEGStreamClip for conversions and resizing 5Dmk2 files

It's still not what I asked for anyway. It's more like competition (weak) to Smugmug ;-)

Hopefully there will be solution that will eliminate middle man. Google as search engine, some storage like Amazon or Windows Azure and payment system from PayPal or Amazon. The company will allow to download software, setup own server and register within their site (actually maybe multiple site like DNS servers).

790
I stopped uploading there and watch them kind of like SnapVillage. I got some sales in both places but do not invest any time.

Price war and consolidation will cause weaker players to disapear. Survivers might have to rise prices just to heal the woulds but also because there will be no competition.

In meanwhile 10 wannabe site a day will pop up. They are not real threat to current ones and live on life support for years.

All this will happen at expense of contributors. Survivors might see better time in couple years from now.

General - Stock Video / Re: Video Length
« on: July 24, 2009, 13:31 »
I still did not pass test on Revostock. They wanted weird format of samples. When I get them video in this format now they claimed that I need to upload full size samples cause they cannot judge them from smaller format their requested :-) Even IStock application was less complicated. Besides that I am trying to keep clips between 5 and 30 secs which is most universal for other sites.

I selectively focus everytime at 2.8 and have no problems focus rejections.

I think we have to image how reviewer work looks like:

797
Let's reasons seems to be random selection of "not suitable for stock" and "out of focus".

Maybe programmers changed order of rejection reasons so this one is now closer to the top???

I stopped looking at rejection reason because most of the time they just use canned response which is closest to real reason, e.g "image is either underexposed, overexposed or white balance is incorrect". If I waste my time for fixing and resubmitting got 30% chance to get it right :-) And speaking about  "out of focus" rejection it could be that reviewer forgot glasses that day :-) I better spend time doing something productive than trying to figure out what happened.

Bla, bla, bla, every agency says think out of the box then reviewers compare with what sells and it's just pure waste of time for contributors.
