GLStock / Re: Which GL price category works best?« on: September 04, 2012, 22:30 »
Interesting, seems some people are doing quite well there. I agree tho, sales are too inconsistent to really be able to tell.
My thinking with the smaller sites, GL, CC, etc is that if I am going to get sales somewhere other than the big earners, then I want those sales to be worth something, so I have been tending toward the higher brackets on these sites. 778

GLStock / Which GL price category works best?« on: September 04, 2012, 00:25 »
Just thought it would be interesting to see what people have found is the best balance between price, sales volume and return for them on GL Stock Images.
Which category are your images in at the moment? Vectors Large Medium Small 1: $6 $6 $3 $1 2: $10 $10 $5 $2 3: $15 $15 $7 $3 Mine have always been in the middle tier, the $2-$10 range. Sales aren't great, but generally a couple a month off a 1400 image port (photos). What have you found is best - more sales with lower prices? Or do GL customers not mind the extra couple of bucks for the higher priced files? 780

My turn to moan and complain then... ![]() 783
Shutterstock.com / Re: Horrible new bug at SS« on: August 29, 2012, 22:56 »nothing new this bug has been around many times before. Seriously? I don't mean the "my new approved pictures just don't show up" bug, which has been going for ages, where eventually they finally appear in your port after a few days or weeks. These images DO show up right away, there are place holders for them in your portfolio - it's that the actual thumbnail is broken. And the large item preview too. Pretty sure this is new? Either way though, this needs fixing - and quick. 784

Newly approved photos aren't showing up properly. There is a placeholder for them, but no thumbnail and no details page image. So basically, new images are online but not visible and so not selling!! REALLY hope they fix this bug ASAP. My whole last batch is affected. Anyone else? 785

Was having a great month with sales, right up until the 70% kicked in, then no sales since! Hey leaf, I am finding the new colours/fonts/sizes harder to read, compared to before, especially on my iphone 3GS. As a suggestion, could the topic name be a bigger size and BOLD, rather than the persons name being bold? (referring to viewing the "Show unread posts..." and "Show new replies..." links. Just noticed the regular forum itself doesn't do bold on anything.)
Also, in the forum itself, the last column on the right - can that be made bigger so we can see the latest topic better? It's very thin compared to before. Ok, I'll shut up now ![]() 790

You read my mind Leaf, just last week I was thinking this place needed a fresh coat of paint, I go away for the weekend and come back to a fresh upgrade! Great stuff. Look forward to when your finished tweaking. Thanks again

Crestock - total waste of time
Superhug - cos they don't exist all of a sudden! And a couple of others that I've totally forgot about by now. Theres a few scheduled for the chopping block in 12 months time if they don't improve too... 792
iStockPhoto.com / Re: If the RC targets stay the same as that of 2011, how are you doing in 2012?« on: August 21, 2012, 23:32 »
Without question it is a delaying tactic to see just how high they can squeeze the different tiers to make sure as few people as possible reach them. Or worse, as you have suggested KB. As for any retro payments, well, I'm not holding my breath...

Got 2 ED's on last day of July, which saved the month. Then good start to August, with 2 ED's in first 2 weeks. My usual is about 2-3 month. So looking on track so far, although May/June did slump with ED's, but seems to be back to normal.
Haven't had a Single Image for a while though. 794
Pond5 / Re: photos« on: August 21, 2012, 19:49 »
So if you leave it at "1", what price does it default too when live?

What a joke they haven't told us what the new RC's are. Simply terrible way to keep contributors dangling for as long as possible. And for what, a 1% increase (as a non-exc)?! Come on iStock.

Pond5 / Re: photos« on: August 21, 2012, 00:18 »
when setting the price, mine comes up with the default as being "1". So are we setting the MINIMUM price, or the Maximum price?

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Uploading Raster versions of Vectors?« on: August 14, 2012, 22:03 »
Thanks, seems strange that there is confusion over this. Surely iStock would benefit by making this clear for all?
Guess I will give it a go and see what happens. Thanks again 800
iStockPhoto.com / Uploading Raster versions of Vectors?« on: August 13, 2012, 23:48 »
Silly question no doubt guys, but noticing some iStock ports seem to have raster versions of vectors for sale (without having the vector online).
Does iStock accept uploading raster illustrations through the "Photos" upload route? Is it like SS, where you can have both raster and vector versions available as separate files? Thanks |
