Ahhh... the youth of today. Such aspirations.
I hope in time he'll put his skills towards something more constructive and less DEstructive.
Me too. Lets face it, the guy is smart. Sometimes big companies employ hackers to test their systems.

As the deadline approaches i made my final decision. I'm not ditching them completely but have started to deactivate anything thats worth something... it hurt to deactivate flames but in the end i'll feel better having my good stuff only on sites that dont give me nausea
I'm so tempted to put a poisonous message in the title field of the remaining files and have that hauled over to TS (my mini private war), but i guess it would mean a certain ban, so i'll just bend over and grab their mere pennies for my not-so-good files.
I didn't expect to receive emails from them with the reason I gave when deactivating files. We regret to inform you that image.....has been deactivated from the iStockphoto database of Royalty Free Images. Reason for deactivation: Because I love you ;-) Best Regards, iStockphoto Administrator

@OP: see how things can get convovulated?
Exactly! Not to mention convoluted.

I will be staying. I am not at all happy about the heavy-handedness of this new ASA, but I have been expecting something like this for months. Can't afford to give up more than 1/3 of my income.
I hear you. Ironically, if all independents decided to cancel their portfolio on iStock on the same day, iStock would sink in an instant and everyone would benefit by getting getting charged less commissions elsewhere. In todays connected world, stranger things have happened, you never know. (Not holding my breath though).
Yeah sure! dream on
Do u think iStock wouldn't sink if the majority of their collection was to disappear? It won't happen of course as contributors are dispersed and unable to form a united front about anything. The agencies know that too, hence they act the way that they do.

This thread reminds me of the 'Gmail Man'. I didn't post the video here as I'm veering off subject but here's a link.

Hi viorel_dudau,
Had just post my last (at least for now and for a good time) post at dreamstime forum, asking for apology for my ramp. I have tought about everything that happened and you are right about ramping in public. Hope you and all that i might cause any upset can accept it, it is truthful.
I know i am nobody at this hole microstock thing, and even less as a photographer. I do it because i like to shoot. Have a some formal classes but i am far away from been a professional. So i admit that aproach to change things at where i stand and the way i did was ridicule.
Still think that original concept is onething and absolut copy is another, but let's get this behind.
Best regards,
Bull in a China shop comes to mind, but I've been there a few times too. It's big of you to apologise though. Dt's forum is not the right place for causing a stir. You can continue to do it here though.

Froogze, microstock isn't for everybody, get out and keep your sanity. DT might even waive the 6 month rule for you. I've never seen a thread on dt with so many staff members entering. They're quite a patient lot really, especially if you consider how some other agencies don't accept any freedom of speech, if it's negative comments about their agency.

@williamju Have u seen what you've started here and that's after posting just 25 times in this forum. Do u have any other questions?

Just curious about this, anyone know the answer?
Aside from all the new answers and waffling about #2 at what, here's the thread and the top ten names, which aren't shown.

Another answer, answering the question for one agency rather than the question that the OP asked ( Not that I mind). I actually forgot about that thread, which is pretty bad considering it wasn't very long ago. It is funny how we all know who number one is, but none of us are certain of who the second most successful microstocker is.

On IS? Yuri, Lise, DNY59, me.
Ur like a British Olympic athlete, just missing out on a bronze. Still, at over 790000 downloads, I guess u have no complaints.

Just got a message from Dreamstime about one of my images saying it hadn't been sold in 4 years. Options are send it to the free section, rekeyword for 60c or disable.
Is this something new or has it been around for ages ?
Its a fair move to keep the size of the collection managable and I'd prefer this scheme than making it impossible to get new stuff accepted.
That would be a fair trade off, but they haven't made it any easier to get new stuff accepted.

..or u could try this. Not sure if it will work, but no harm in trying.
My fear would be I might have the identical result: A few days after complaining, my images were down.

The contributor wanted their images down off TS (after already waiting 6 months), but this only happened a few days after complaining to the Better Business Bureau. In my opinion you have a perfectly legitimate grievance. You are owed that money.

Why don't they just close down the site if that would be the case?
Good question. I just had a look at their whois info. and the domain expires Jul 2012, lasted updated Jun 2011. So maybe they do intend to continue, but their complete silence is strange to say the least.

When on the can system, they never paid for the time it took for the can to update. That's just how it worked. You're not the first.
You mean it's just how they work. KB, you're not the first to get shafted and you certainly won't be the last. You just have to accept it, it's just how it works. ..or u could try this. Not sure if it will work, but no harm in trying. If what you're saying is true, it's not outright theft, but it is certainly not acceptable for any agency to officially promise something then not deliver, unless it's Royalty cuts of course. http://www.microstockgroup.com/istockphoto-com/everyone-with-a-complaint-about-istock-this-worked

Can't see it from where I am on any browser, it's been like that for a while. Just checked out their fb page. The last 3 comments are people complaining. "Some kind of communication would be greatly appreciated." I thought people were supposed to do runners once they got money, the guys who bought cs seem to have done a runner after giving money away. https://www.facebook.com/clustershot?sk=wall&filter=1

Just look at the message on the front page. The new owners were meant to be taking 45 days to asses the site, then they were going to communicate what they are going to do. The 45 days was up about 3 weeks ago and nothing has happened. I wont waste my time until they let us know their plans.
Can anyone actually access the site? The site seems to have been down for a couple of months or so. If I've missed another thread, just point me to it. Cheers.

55% is for exclusives. The non-exclusive rate remains the same (afaik). My sales are not dead (I reached a payout once) they just need resuscitating. Which I'm sure they're working on. The new site design and the way it functions is much better now, and they've gone from 'you choose the prices' to microstock prices, probably because it's a proven formula.
