The thing is, my second set was also selling well, but buyers who downloaded first set didn't download second, and buyers, who downloaded second set didn't download first one. It happened that both were downloaded, but was extremly rare....

This cat-dog is good theory but I'm not sure, it works. For example, I uploaded a vector set of some chemical warning signs, and it was selling really well, so I thought I should make another set with some additional warning signs, thinking, if buyers see and download first set, they will for sure download a second set with more (similar) signs so I'd get double sales. Well this wasn't the case, it very rarely happened, that buyers downloaded both sets. My conclusion: buyers wont download files that don't need. So if they need a photo of a cat, they most of the time will not also download photo of a dog.
At least that's my experience.

So how do you explain the fact, that some of the files, that I have on the first page are, according to SS map downloaded from all over the world?

No sales here either.
I remember last year, dreamstime was giving 100% royalties for all sales on Christmas, and I actually had a sale that day netting me 13$. True miracle considering DT is pretty much dead for me.

People here are obsessed with this search thing and blame it on everything. I have some files, that are on the first page for popular more than a year. How'd you explain that?

It can give you some information. If you have one sale, and your weekly status doesnt drop, it means, other people are doing bad too. If you have good number of sales and your weekly status drops, it means other are doing even better, etc...
Drop = from 3000 to 5000 for example.
It's an interesting info, but that's pretty much all there is to it.

Ever since I started uploading to Alamy, I put commas between my keywords. And I have sales and views, so I guess it doesnt matter?

I've been having problems getting images in the review queue - Filezilla says they are uploaded successfully and then they disappear. One batch did get through and was reviewed within a few days but the others just disappeared. Weird - hadn't had many problems previously. I will write support to try to find out what is going on.
So...what did they say?
Lee responded very quickly and said he ran a script that only found two images - the rest appeared either then or just before that. All have now been reviewed although it took a while, they did them randomly a few at a time. Uploaded another batch today and will monitor to see if whatever the problem was has been corrected - they haven't showed up in my portfolio yet but it usually takes a few hours, hopefully by tomorrow morning.
So, have you images been reviewed? Nothing here...not even "In review" status...

Anything can sell. I had a sale of pills on white background for 200$ gross. And also another sale 195$ gross, different subject, both files also on MS. I suggest you shoot local food, for example traditional food for your country, and tourist places etc.... Also, as others said, it takes a while before you get any sales, I went a year without a singe sale, now I have them, not many, but they're there. Had 5 sales in november and 1 this month and expecting one more to be reported in January because I found one of my images used on www.telegraph.co.ukMost of my sales are RF and I have them also on MS sites....but it's also true I don't have many RM images at alamy, probably less than 30.

Well seems they are tinkering with this silly search yet again and this time its going from bad to worse to terrible. Any uploads there until after new-year and they will just fade away never to see the light.
And you've come to this conclusion because....?

I'm just curious, does anybody have their e-mail visible, when customer clicks on your port and did any of you have made any deals bypassing shutterstock?
I've seen some ports when contributors had their e-mail on display and was wondering, if it's worth it...

SS has became pretty much dump yard for all kind of spammers and cheaters. Meanwhile, contributors with thousands, ten of thousands of photos getting their accounts suspended because someone stole their images and put them on a "free images" website.
