It all comes down to how much the image makes you and how much it will make you over the years and do they just want the rights for a few years or do they want the copyrights to it?
Because it can come down to hundreds, thousands or even tens of thousands it all depends.

I happen to have an over 600 acre reservoir in my backyard along with who knows how many thousands of acres of Park property not to mention where i live and the animals come visit me, now snkaes are different then other animals and copperheads are deadly so i can shoot them and do what i want to with them, now the one in the picture was released cause i caught it but had i just walked up on it chances are it would be dead. All the animals i shoot are on my property and released. Here look at our laws! http://leg1.state.va.us/000/lst/LS858008.HTM

... Oh, a butterfly! Top right, top left. Wings open, wings shut..."
LOL
Of course you want a butterfly with wings open AND wings shut. Both photos are essential for identification.
+1 And the scientific classification names help sales as well not just typing Butterfly! Some people who do studio only have no idea what it takes to shoot nature shots. Try catching a copperhead snake without getting bit so you can get the shot! EDIT: To add the pic.

You asked for help on the SS forum and didn't like what you were told so you came over here and asked for help and apparently didn't like what you were told so you went back to the SS forum and didn't like what you heard so you deleted everything so no one can see or know anything now!
What the Hayull is wrong with you are you just POED because if so it is much better to be POED then to be be peed on
Get a life and get your self together this is real stuff not the crap mommy and daddy like.
So deleted pics from your link here as well as a blank website.
Looks like we have a TROLL
I don't understand the "troll" rules anymore. You're a troll if you ask questions now? Or is it that he replied to the critiques politely that made him a troll? Is it because he had follow up questions? Or is it because, after he had his questions answered he removed the images because the matter was closed?
Or maybe, he's not the one that behaves like a troll.
He removed all of his post's, none of the links are legit, the pics are not there? He got mad because his pics were shot down and they weren't great like all of his friends and family have told him. So he threw a tantrum and deleted everything? Except what was quoted, and now no one knows what the hayull is or was going on!

Sheite i can submit over 200 over a weekend so it is not hard to do and pretty common among many submitters who do the same.
Look at Alex he did over 400 one week in a few days time uploading and then he waited."
I think they need to do more bulk rejections. 200 in a weekend? "Here's my turtle. Here's my turtle on grass. Here's his head sticking out. Here he's hiding. Oh, a butterfly! Top right, top left. Wings open, wings shut..."
If your going to quote someone at least quote them with their username! After all that is my quote so i would appreciate it to be quoted correctly with my username. And there are many on SS and elsewhere that turn in well over 1000 images a week for review so this is a minor amount we are talking about here. There are those site where they limit you but not SS which is a good thing and that is why they are #1 take me out to the ballpark take me out to the game! 10-9-8-7-6- Get real.

Anyone else getting a message of "Technical Error" when trying to upload to DT?
Where have you been? Only FTP uploading works.

http://submit.shutterstock.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=124172Ok so here is what another Moderator said about how the Popular works!
Popular looks primarily at the number of times an image has been downloaded. Relevant is a more sophisticated algorithm that considers a mix of factors.
So which one is right?
Hi everybody,
The search results in "Popular" are based on one of Shutterstock's most complicated algorithms. This algorithm takes many different variables into account, including, but not limited to, the total number of downloads. If an image has more downloads than others it does not always mean it will be placed higher in "Popular". It is also very normal for images to move up and down "Popular" regardless of the number of times that image has been downloaded. Forums are dead time to stir the pot. --
Hello ruxpriencdiam,
The quote you reference was accurate at the time of posting. The newer post is also accurate, at this time.
Stay transparent with your posts.
Sincerely, Anthony Correia Director, Content Operations Shutterstock|Bigstock
Thank you Anthony so i take it this is normal then. -- Hello ruxpriencdiam,
If you are referring to how we do our best to ensure your portfolio gets in front of as many customers as possible, then the answer is yes, this is quite normal. Stay relevant and accurate with your keywords/titles and we will do the rest.
Sincerely, Anthony Correia Director, Content Operations Shutterstock|Bigstock Thanks again now we know it isn't a bug like some of us including me thought.
And we can put this to rest.

When doing a 'professional' shoot, like at a mechanics shop, dental, hospital, construction... anything, I like to have a person who actually works in that profession on the shoot. That person (who often also runs the place we are shooting in) is used to make the sure models are acting in a believable way. That the equipment is used properly and that we are doing things that are actually done in the location.
So my questions is... what is that 'professional consultant' called? .. I need a good name for it, or perhaps there is already a name for that person on a shoot.. anyone know?
Ha pfffffftttttt~~~~~~~~~~~LOL

And then dont forget if you had such a thing someone would have to "review" them and if they were like you and I were nothing would get accepted

You are all wrong!
If I had a time machine i sure wouldn't be in microstock because i would have won every lottery jackpot in every State since they started the lottery and i would be a Billionaire if not a trillionaire without ever having to work again nor would any of my Children or my Children's Children.
You people think small.

A common thief trying to justify his/her work hoping to get sympathy from those here for what they have done! HA! >:(Pfftt~~~~~~~~~~~~ Get a life no one here is going to sympathize with you in any way and we should let other agencies know about you and what you doing and inform them of what you have done and tell them they need to take down your port and ban you as DT did.

You can post us an example over in the forums like Anthony says to do and if it passes you can do a resubmit and link to that thread explaining that everyone saw nothing wrong with it if that is the case and hope it makes the cut.
Otherwise you were hit by Attila!
Anthony stands behind his reviewers and the team he has working for him.

HA! Like this is not normal? ?? Quick and easy for you. OOF, Lighting, composition, trademark/copyright, model release and LCV due to framing cropping and or composition. That's it and applies to pretty much all of them. Get used to it after all this is Istock you are talking about

Here is more of their great rejections. Please submit only those images from this series that fit the event better. We consider that 3-5 images per event can tell the full story, and by submitting less you will certainly focus on quality (this is always preferred) while covering up an event. Now you go to an event of any kind and only take 3-5 images to cover the whole event ?? what is that all about? ?? Pffffffffffffffffftttttttttttttttttttt~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I dont know about anyone else but you can sure take a lot more then 3-5 images of any Editorial Event you are covering!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The reviewers at DT are just bending you over greasing you up and giving it to you right up the old dirt road and laughing about it while they ef you royally!

It's done and over with and there is nothing more we can do about it.
So that means what? We can't discuss it?
I think he meant that the design is finished and will not be adjusted anymore but I doubt that, I'm sure they will add the dl's number back amongst other things.
That's it and when and if they add the DL's back the IT techs will forget a code somewhere that will screw up something else and create some dam bug that will eat away at something in the site giving everyone other issues other then the DL numbers. That's the way the IT engineers keep their jobs.

I totally understand curbing people from uploading 20 images that are almost exactly the same
there is a contributor that is just over the roof, half his portfolio at SS is on a single subject and we are talking about objects, over 2k pictures of the same object, not concepts just them "on white" (over 10 sessions on the same stuff)
basically all shoots are 50 of the same object and upload! agencies seem to approve them...
123RF and DP over 10k FT over 7k SS over 4k DT less than 500 IS even less
I am exclusively talking about similarity, nothing against "his/her" work, if I am talking about a subject that cannot be talked or I am unpolite please leaf remove it
And who it may be i wanna go see?
Ah yes i know that one very well and they sell everyday!
