General Stock Discussion / Do large batches lead to higher probabily of rejection?« on: July 09, 2009, 13:09 »
Is it only me but it seem like there is higher rejection rate if batch is big. Sometimes I feel that 5 a day is most optimal size.

Alamy.com / Re: New Alamy QC Policy« on: July 07, 2009, 18:56 »
I thought they do not inspect whole batch. If somebody uploads batch of 3000 images that are identical it would be rejected after inspecting few of them. It is because they reject whole batch if one image is wrong I am uploading only 4 at once. More over I was told not to upload more than one batch in the same day cause everything with the same date is treated as one. It should not cost them more to inspect 1 or 100 images in batch.

Neither positive nor negative :-) I would say it's bogus marketing trick.

It looks like PhotoShelter was not the one prophesied to bring balance to the Force :-)

General Stock Discussion / How to undercut the competition even more?« on: July 07, 2009, 16:30 »
Why customer have to pay whopping 25 cents for an image if they can only specify pixels they need? Would 5 cents per million pixels be right price?

New Sites - General / Re: Pixamba - Please keep us informed!« on: July 07, 2009, 16:15 »
The biggest question here is volume. Is there enough customers for 50 agencies? Anybody coming so late into this game should better have some revolutionary idea otherwise they can only advertise lower prices. Where these new agencies getting customers from? My impression is they try to get them from bigger ones. Is saving 5 cents worth moving?

In some sense IStock is a fiasco for me. I cannot force myself to upload there. Cumbersome workflow, upload limits, long review times. After one year I got 141 files online and 53 sales. I cannot tell if this bothers me more than easy upload and no sales. I kind of feel that I am wasting less time if workflow is easier.

SS is probably best for anything for most of people but I am not sure if this is sign of good correlation :-)

General Stock Discussion / Re: How to Make a Profit Shooting Models?« on: July 07, 2009, 15:03 »
That's what I always thought, Yuri and some other top microstockers are just professional fashion photographers who sell scraps from their other assignments at microstock or at least use equipment from other work to shoot micro. Micro stock is not main source of income for them.

Sometimes I am frustrated with all so called "Up and Coming" sites. Every new one promises to be different but ends up with no customers. Is my time dedicated for them and investment, what do you think?

General Stock Discussion / Re: The road to hell is paved with subscription« on: July 06, 2009, 19:50 »
Paid online content will not survive either. The reason everything printed died is availability of free content on internet. Same with TV, I think if I still need cable if I got everything I need from internet for free. The only way to survive is to find the way of monetizing on free content which Google does. They are now more advertising company than software house. They actually give away most software for free and try to link it to search engine which is money making machine.

General Stock Discussion / Monthly fluctuations« on: July 01, 2009, 15:27 »
Is this just me? I start seeing pattern. I got spike at the beginning of the month, then it slowly dies out and spike again at the end. Is this buyer behavior caused by subscriptions?
