It means the percentage of images in the total database that your yours.

Mine's even lower!

I upload exactly the same stuff to all agencies.

Same here.

Thanks for the link. I'm going to give it a try. I'm currently using Photo Mechanic, but it's a bit slow...

I've never had a request for a custom shoot, but I did have someone contact me and purchase a RF license from me for $200 for an image that they found on Dreamstime.

857
Dreamstime. Upload 3 at a time at most, and wait for the result. Read the rejections carefully. Don't upload in a rush because you will ruin your acceptance ratio.

Only join Shutterstock when you have no less than 100 salable images ready. You will get a high exposure on SS as a new uploader and it makes no sense to waste that on a portfolio of just 20 pictures (LSD72's argument).

When you feel confident enough and your acceptance ratio both at SS and DT is > 70%, apply at iStockphoto.

Very well thought-out! Sounds like the winning strategy to me.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Nikon to Canon or Canon to Nikon

What about a Sony a900?

Your portfolio will almost certainly earn more at Istock than any other two agencies combined too.

That is a very subjective statement. Dreamstime, iStock and Fotolia are within a few dollars of each other every month for me. It all depends on what you produce. Some types of images sell better on different sites.

I just made a new low: I had one image purchased with "1 credit (old)", it made me a whopping $0.15 Ca-ching!

Sounds like iStock for me. I've had so many tiny credit sales lately that subscription sales would pay better on there for me!

I think that it's pretty amazing that there was so much activity here on the forum regarding this topic in only 12 minutes! Let's hope that it was just some DNS issue...

I just noticed that myself. I'm going to poke around a bit...

That's quite the list! I can see why most of them are on there. I wonder if I made my own stuffed animal if there would still be trouble...

and what about the battery? are they the same or different? Sure would be nice to have that extra battery if needed.

From a quick look around, it looks like they are the same battery.

Tamron makes some decent lens don't they? I've never tryed them

Yes, they do. I love the one that I have and am thinking about getting a used 70-300 that I found on craigslist. At $130, it's quite a bit cheaper than the nikon!

What lens would you recomend for an all around lens? The one that mainly is all attached to that camera for all those on the spot candid shots.

I love my Tamron 28-75 f/2.8

Much cheaper than the Nikon version and produces very nice results.

I also think that you'll get used to seeing f-stop and shutter speed on the rear LCD very quickly if you go with the D5000.

867
I see quite a few D90's on craigslist...

868
From what I've read, they have the same sensor. The major difference is that the D90 has the focus motor built into the body so that you can use cheaper, non AF-S lenses. The D5000 requires lenses which have their own focus motor, making them more expensive.

Hope that helps!

Where is everyone seeing the tax percent being taken off? Also I cannot find where to view whether it was a US or non-US sale? If i am a US resident and i already filled out a form in the past do I have to do it again? Or does this only apply to non-US residents. Sorry I am very confused...

I love the way that StockXpert draws on their sister, free website SXC for buyer traffic (or at least it did until IS took over!). I love the way that they treated the contributors. I would hate to see the site die, but would rather have a GETTY-FREE StockXpert again.

Just my two cents.

General Stock Discussion / Re: December 2009 earning percentages
« on: January 03, 2010, 15:59 »
I've got about 1,100 images everywhere except IS (920) and have been with everyone since 2005 except agencies created after then.

873
I think that it is a bit early to count Veer out of the game yet. They were already a major player in stock photography, but just started in microstock. If anyone has a chance to succeed, I would think that it would be Veer.

Just my opinion.

I just tried to buy some credits at DT and my browser keeps waiting. and waiting. and waiting.

I hope that other buyers are not having trouble!
