oh geez, just as the Nikon V Canon debate gets boring, DT somehow decides that the brand of camera you use determine the style of shots you create? what??
I agree as a photographer it will be very interesting to see what lenses are used to create images, but i doubt designers will care (or find it interesting). The few I've ever dealt with don't care how an image is made, just how it looks.
what a waste of resources (as usual, funded from that 80% they keep off our work's income). I'd rather they: go through old stuff and delete it go through and sort out keyword spamming

I saw it on Flickr somewhere, perhaps a bunch of mates have gotten together and launched it. doesn't look very 'stock' though, more like college portfolio type work, or flickr stuff.

You really couldn't make this stuff up.
this should be quote of the year, because week after week more stuff just keeps happening.

Why people want to complicate things? the original reason for me to stop uploading to istock was this nonsensical obligation for a new model release for every handful of shots. as for being a crook, you can just forge releases anyway, and theres nothing they can do about it.
exactly, that's why i think digital releases are actually more authentic, cos you have to take a photo of them with the release. the only good thing about the DT system is that I often upload images there first if they are of my kids, as i know they are already released. I've got images I shot of the one model but about a week apart (6 months ago) and i have misplace the * MR from one of the shoots, so i've only uploaded half to the other agencies, but DT gets both. It's good for me, not very protective of the model at all, because I've shot her on a third occasion without a release at all but could probably upload the pics to DT if I wanted.

I'm not seeing any policy change regarding similars. Have had half a dozen rejected this week under this policy. I haven't yet bothered but I guess I could make a collage with the rejected ones?

it could matter though, if you only gave your largest files to sites that rewarded larger files, and kept dimensions of all others smaller. Forgive me for talking in inches, that's how I think, but if you only gave iS 6x9" files and they paid the top value on that, then why give them 8x12" (which is just under my native size). (Not sure they'd accept 6x9s as I haven't tested it.)

If someone compliments one of my photos, I say, "thank you."
I tell the truth, it's not me, it's the expensive camera and the lens. All I do is push this little button on top.
me too, sometimes refer to myself as "the monkey".

is it too much effort to only upload a certain larger size to sites that reward such things?

my deactivated images are still there, when you check the "deactivated" dropdown box. out of curiosity I tried to reactivate one, and it didn't allow it. interesting. not sure what's going on over there. where is Sean to raise concern in the forums at iS? all part of their grand plan I suppose?

You should probably wait until 2nd Feb and resubmit. I hear they will need a lot more contributors after that.
Lol! Why is that? (I'm curious)
you can't be serious.

i posted a photo on instagram last night using iPhone app PIP (lots of fun frames/overlays) and have had a few "wow" comments. I say: just take it. I'm trying to impress ppl to build clients, not impress other 'togs: they aren't going to book me for shoots, are they?

actually I joined iS two years ago as a rookie (not 4 and half years, where is that info?) That info is on your IS profile page. 'Member since: November 2008'
hmm, perhaps as suggested, I did join as a buyer, or I joined after I returned from a trip thinking I could sell travel pics (hilarious!), but my uploads aren't that old, so yeah, a touch misleading. 4 years ago... my 3rd child was in kindy, seems life a lifetime ago. I do know I joined 123 first and I have a few travel pics up there (that were accepted), but I didn't seriously look at stock as a viable income stream (using that term loosely, and in a part-time sense) until last year. Best intentions and all that, still nowhere near where I'd hoped to be by end of '12.

They aren't actions. I kinda wonder why anyone would buy an action, but that's just me I guess...
cos they aren't trained in photoshop. they bought it and have learnt some basics, but can't write actions. plenty of other reasons too. the world's a big place and there are lots of cashed up soccer mums with DSLRs. *as usual: have plenty of soccer mum friends, love them all.

actually I joined iS two years ago as a rookie (not 4 and half years, where is that info?), uploaded about 12 files, did nothing with it seriously until last year. (also sales are one shy of 200 so your stats are also 100% out, in both terms of my duration and DLs, but I get your overall point)
so for me I only think i've been at iS "properly" for just over one year. While I am still in the newbie building portfolio stage I'd expect to see growth, not 8 days with 0 zero sales. (got one yesterday) I wouldn't expect to have a WME just yet.
I stopped uploading to iS for Dday, and deactivated files (back down to about 150?), and now am in limbo wondering what to do.

DT is my current first choice for editorial, last time I submitted 6 pics from our January floods and I got a $5 "newsworthy bonus" per image. Given only one has sold so far I'm pretty happy with that arrangement. The other sites are just a pain with this type of thing (I seem to fail the iS captioning rules every time), so I give to DT as exclusive.

are we hoping these pics have all been purchased?

This is a very open-ended subject as we each have different parameters in what we do. We've all seen multiple images of the same subject over and over again bloating a contributors total uploads way beyond what others have online. For an important reason, I usually limit an upload from a shoot to one, sometimes two retouched images. Because #1, they're the best in my opinion and #2 because at a couple of agencies the value goes up for those images more for multiple sales of that one picture than if the concept were spread across 5 or 6 from the shoot. I just do better.
I sort of agree, because I just can't be bothered taking and editing all those extra shots when I know I got it in two. but I have also found that subs buyers will often buy 2 or 3 from the same series, so for me, I now aim for at least 3. If I were able to do more my port would be bigger, but not have the variety of topics I have now.

^ but how? the courts are out of touch. model: I didn't sign that, it's forged. me: yes you did model: no I didn't etc. I'd still want a pic of them holding the signed paper release, as a backup. or a thumbprint... geez, even the witness can be "anybody". years later you won't remember them either. or, me: here's a pic of you just after you digitally signed the model release. model: oh yeah, I remember now. I did sign that.

really hoping to push myself into the 500-1000 bracket in the next few months. I've got 374 images in my "to do" folder.
