...But the best thing is to have the reputation of being the site that brings in the most money.
Preferably double or triple to any competitor.
That's a great reputation to have. Sadly for istock they don't have that reputation anymore. SS is the company that tends to blow away the competition in terms of bringing in the most money these days.
Woo Yay!

Its funny because Lobo was the one who ousted Peebert for being unprofessional. There was a very short lived thread in September of 06 in which Lobo and Peebert went at it. Lobo called Peebert and Upsidedowndog trolls for the way they treated posters to the forums, particularly newbies. Peebert's role in the forums was diminished and he left shortly after. UDD stopped posting and left a note on his istock blog saying he'd been told by some that his posts were no longer wanted so he would stop. http://www.istockphoto.com/user_view.php?id=261505 see the September 06 post.
The thread's lifespan was something like 7 minutes before it disappeared. I just happened to read it while it was going on.
Funny how its Lobo who is the unprofessional one now...
Wow, I did not know any of that, but I do remember the bewilderment after all that went down and some of those members of the community disappeared. Oh the irony of Lobo calling anyone a troll. But there was once a day where he was not nearly the prick he is now. He really should probably find another job. He is so clearly not happy in that one.
It's kind of a crappy job really (I'm not being sympathetic). I remember at school when students were chosen to be school prefects, they were over the moon. However, if they weren't already unpopular they soon became unpopular. Imagine still being a school prefect when you're at at Lobo's age.

Shank_Ali , aka getting, aka Pete, is now aka Doris.
I think maybe admin should take a look at his account (like iSP did) and give him a three month suspension from posting here. I doubt anyone will miss him.
How many births must Shank Ali have, Before you call him a man?... The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind The answer is blowin' in the wind

Just send us a support ticket and we'll update it for you. For security, there is not an automated way to update it through your account.
Very cool. I like that.

They probably think that by putting better quality stuff on there they can save the site. I wonder where they'll get that better quality stuff from?
The very name "Clipart dot com" sounds very 90s to me.
I know but....
Pete, where have u been?

So perhaps someone should start a poll about what sort of royalty cut would have you deleting your IS portfolio rather than putting up with it

I thought he got a promotion, but some of you have deduced that he basically was demoted, so this could just be a 'saving face' thing. Not a fact of course but a likely theory.
When he joined iStock in 2004, he certainly couldnt have imagined how loathed iStock would be today. Or maybe he doesn't even know.

"You - our contributors, inspectors, staff and customers - turned iStock into one of the most amazing success stories of all time." In the list he puts the contributors first. Seems like an incredibly considerate chap.

That's a bit harsh Slovenian. Each to their own and what whatever makes you happy. It doesn't do it for me though.
I once dated a Singapore Airlines flight attendant, even without uniform (I mean with other clothes on), a simple smile would get me more excited than a $5 EL.

Guess I spoke too soon with relation to the extra small sales. Just had an extra large U-EL license for $5.47 (25 credits).
I'm happy again. LOL
I just want to clarify if you are being sarcastic or not.

latest 20 sales, 9 subs. The average amount of credits used for each of the credit sales is just over 7 credits. There was a period though a while back, I would have nothing but subs, so yeah it's just swings and roundabouts.

PS: we'll cover safely removing ink from glass surfaces next week
Looking forward to that one, thanks.

PS. Don't actually draw on your viewfinder
I wish you said that earlier, the ink smudged and now everythings a blur. So is 'The Last Supper' a classic example of this? Should I be visualising these lines as often as I can when taking photos? I've always thought that good composition is intuitive, plus I've never been a stick to a formula type of person. Maybe that's why I'm no Yuri.

The Golden Ration has been redefined by Getty several times; most recently 85% for them 15% for me.
And that's why it's called Golden, because we are their gold.

The idea of being exclusive sometimes appeals to me. I would save a lot of time. Being an exclusive member on DT is so unappealing though. I can not even send photos which have been rejected by DT anywhere (except on your own site), so these images are for my eyes only and are redundant in terms of making money.
I don't have large ports. but I do get EL's from all the sites on occasions, the best one for me so far was on 123rf at $43. I've also had a few downloads at $100 on non micros, which I would miss out on too if I was exclusively with DT. Big sales for me are infrequent, but when they come, I like it.
By the way exclusive images on DT get an extra 15%, which is piddly. I can't remember what it used to be, but it was a lot more. I also like the levels on DT, but I preferred them when non-exclusives were on 50% for all levels. Both the things I've just mentioned I think were reduced not only to take a bit more, but also to make being exclusive seem so much more appealing. My income on DT remains decent enough, but of course I would have seen substantial growth had the commissions remained the same. Still, there are agencies which are a lot worse I guess.

Often after the 30 days it still shows as exclusive and often I email again.
Why? You've followed their rules, if they can't stick to their own rules then that's their problem not yours.
True. But if someone were to see an image as exclusive and then see it elsewhere, they would assume I was at fault, even though I had already requested it to be taken off exclusive. It isn't worth any potential hassle and I just set a reminder on my calender for 30 days. It is annoying though that so many agencies set so many controls over our images. DT is way up there in the control freak league.

Exclusive images get the 55% royalty rate for a non-exclusive contributor: http://www.dreamstime.com/sellimages...
As for the gray checkbox - all exclusive images are now greyed out, not just assignments. You have to go through support to remove exclusivity from ANY image. You can check it to make an images exclusive, but not the other way around.
Oh wow. That's something new(ish) then. Has anyone had trouble getting an exclusive images turned unexclusive? I assume support would not refuse the request, as long as the image qualifies?
Thanks also for the clarification on % rates for assignment images
You have to email support and ask them to make it unexclusive in 30 days, which is the terms now. Often after the 30 days it still shows as exclusive and often I email again. Such fun huh. In the old days we could make it unexculusive in a second.
