This model will not prevent some photographers from setting very low prices. They are free to do that. Maybe there will be competition between photographers eventually when they notice that setting very high prices will produce not results. However nobody is forced to that form the beginning.
There sites that act like that already but they parse agency websites and harvest image thumbnails. When you want to buy images you are redirected to original image page.
Imagine that they do not have to do web scrapping but there is clear API to get images. Even agencies with tons of images can implement this API and act like one huge contributor.

Would not be nice if in future IStock understand our API and you can register your site with them instead of uploading individual images. We can give them 25% for this :-)

I am only complaining about transfer from SV, I lost over 2000 images.
It seems that Veer website is light years ahead SV and so far customer service was very helpful.

I guess Google will not "see" images on users websites, otherwise anybody could download them for free. Our search engine will only index sites that are registered with it and offer API a.k.a backdoor to see images :-) There must be some sort of handshake between legitimate search engine and the site.

It was not that bad after all I used almost same images I sent initially to Snapvillage so I wonder why they did not want to transfer my account. It must be cheaper to let suckers, a I meant contributors, to do job themselves.

It seems they cannot handle traffic they generated ;-)

For example my personal blog is using WordPress which give me opportunity to plugin anything written in PHP. If we can provide library that can be easily used then it will take care of API for some files I upload to my hosted server.

There are many easy to use blog or CMS software anybody can use. Some ISP like GoDaddy have one click installs for them. We can target some of them with some easy to plugin scripts similar to what Google does with AdSense or Analytics.

It has been working so far. I can finish submission on all sites during my morning coffee time :-) It's pretty random so I am always surprised when I see what photos were upload last night.

They got weird QC system but I would not call them hostile. For me I am not always agree with rejections but I accepted fact that they want to be different.

They image processing does not work properly. Gives an error on a half of images I tried to upload. These images has been submitted everywhere so I do not think they are broken.

Couple days after they rejected my SV portfolio I filled a form on their website. Nobody even confirmed that they received data. What a heck?

DT - 2 month ago BME but now back to nornal levels 123 - normal to low StockXpert - slightly below normal BigStock - 1 DL per month which is normal for this one FT - is actually picking up from very low levels FP - nothing in 2-3 months SS - you dive last month but seems to recover now IS - As usual, couple sales a month

If your images are already there via StockXpert then ... a) what's the point ... and b) you do realise you get (even) lower commissions via IS ??
If only all agencies accept same photos... I got almost nothing from IS now so what would be a damage?

For me it is not going to be big loss but it can be a gain: 1. I already sell images thru StockXpert/Photos.com 2. I got only 130 images on IS 3. I do not sell a lot on IS
It cannot be much worse than that :-)

I understand that this has no business value to agencies and cost them money at the same time. Aggreagators need to offer something in return like linking back to original images so people can find them. I am glad that representative of agency is here and talks. Maybe you can work out some agreement :-)

We added a Captcha to our login recently too, it's really not a matter of " those pesky Artists, let's hide the info from them", it is simply a case of, why should an external service monetize our resources in an automatic fashion, incurring extra expenses, when the only application of the data harvesting is for comparing agencies to other agencies? What if we call you up on the phone 10 times a day and ask how you doin' compared to Yuri, it would not be a very friendly affair after long.
Translation: We do have time or money to give contributors statistics but lets make it difficult to others to help them. What if I could handle 10000 phone calls a day and you call me 10 times, would it be visible to me?

Just curious, does SS actually have any API? IS uses XML-RPC but I haven't heard any other agency provides anything.

Being devil's advocate for a while: who really owns sales data, agency or contributor?
