Lucky for me I fell under the cobra help plan and pay $300.00 per month for my family. Same coverage as before and in 15 months I will switch plans which will cost me a little less actually. The good news is I can write off the cobra expense. Its filed under a different deduction but it helps none the less. I also have a very good accountant and I highly recommend anyone considering this to get a very good accountant!

I have to jump in here. I got laid off my medical job which I held for 10 years with good pay and benefits. I look everyday for a job and can find nothing in Cat Scan and Radiology in the Greenville SC area. I mainly shoot video for stock and am accepted at Getty Images as well. Since no jobs are on the horizon I have been shooting fulltime and paying my bills. I have cobra medical for 15months. I have 1 kid and another due Aug. 27 2010. Lets talk about job security. If you think working for someone else is job security then I feel sorry for you. I am having the time of my life right now and if the train were to stop I can always jump back into the medical field. Life is short and nothing will last forever but if you can make a living doing what you love then why not go for it. The worst thing that can happen is you have to find a different job and to that I say so what. I work just as hard now as I did before but I am twice as happy now so who wants to put a price on that. Life is a risk  and rewards come to those who take the challenge. I am loving it and have been full-time stock now for 2 months.

Count me in as making a fulltime income from microstock all be it on the video side. I have put a ton of effort and put  alot of money into equipment to handle HD at the bulk level. I still hold my current fulltime job in the medical field but it sure is nice to have stock income to fall back on if anything goes wrong. The article is dead on as far as work practices go. Nothing has come easy to me, I do have a niche in the medical field but I shoot all kinds of stuff every week. Between both jobs I work 60 plus hours a week. I might one day pull the plug on the day job and just work 40hrs a week on the stock job. Going fulltime is not for the faint of heart but working for one's self has a whole positive side to itself!

Well 2007 has been great, My  goal is to Learn all I can about After Effects as I shoot video. I hope to have a 2500 clip video gallery on Istock by the end of 2008 all good quality. The earnings will follow the work.

I need to respond to this. I am in video exclusive at iStock, I did try SS as well, My earnings with 220 files on iStockl is close to $800us not to bad. I get around $200.00 per month and it has only been up since Sept. 2006. There is a growing market here, the biggest sellars are 3D stuff and good backgrounds. I think it has the most potential out there at the moment.

Not close yet, but how long did it take you to get there and do you have any tips for beginners. How much income do you consider full time?
Hope you do well and keep it up! ;D

General - Stock Video / Re: I Love IS Video!!!
« on: September 07, 2006, 06:57 »
I had my wife put on some diving gear and wait in the Septic Tank to catch the money. Oh the things we will do for Micro-Stock. I understand your view completely on the pricing structure. I have 37 clips at SS with no sales. Now that is a waste of time. If I can make 8 bucks in a day with only half of the amount of clips at IS then IS is a better investment of my time. If it becomes to much work I can stop anytime. ;)

« on: September 01, 2006, 11:37 »
How many of you make $500 per month across all of your stocksites combined. The next phase is how big
is your Gallery. Lets see if its size or quality.  :)

I know the feeling. I don't have anything amazing but am starting to get a grip on my work flow and quality
that these sites look for. Just keep trying it took me three times to get into IS and SS be determined and don't
quit. I think that they automatically reject a lot of first time submitters in order to weed out the weak. I'm sure you will succeed if you want to and yes we will try and help you all we can. Wlecome, You can see my small SS gallery if you wish it is nothing amazing but in 5 weeks I have had 99 downloads. Good luck ;D

General Stock Discussion / $$ Video Clips
« on: August 22, 2006, 16:39 »
Hey I finally have gotten my clips reviewed at ShutterStock and have 27 on file. Please take a look and give any advice and feedback you might have. Several of the clips are on iStock as well, I wonder if you could guess which ones they rejected that SS didn't.

General Stock Discussion / iStock and iTunes
« on: August 18, 2006, 07:37 »
I can't help but compare these two. I don't know what kind of cut an artist gets for selling a song for a buck but I do know it usually takes a lot more time and effort to produce one. We are lucky to be in this now as it will only grow and the dedicated ones will rise to the top. I hope and wish that iStock would in some way hook up with Apple and be a major provider of video content for the nice video ipods. Oh how sweet that would be  ;D

973
I agree 100% I loaded up 39 pictures which are good ones and do well on other sites and only got 2 views in 2 weeks. Not for me if it is not cash I won't bother!
